Revised and Updated. Whisky is one of the worldโs most revered spirits, with connoisseurs spending a great deal of money and time on the appreciation of rare expressions and limited edition bottles. In addition, many whisky connoisseurs travel direct to the source to see and experience the worldโs best distilleries at first hand. Since the publication of the first edition in 2010, many changes have occurred in the world of whisky which are fully explored in this completely new edition. Over 200 of the 750 whiskies are updated, along with over 20 of the 38 features to reflect the โnew world of whiskyโ, from the growing US single malt craft distillery movement (including Balcones in Texas), Japan (Yoichi),Taiwan (Kavalan), India (Paul John), Australia (Overeem), France (Warengem) and Sweden (Mackmyra, Spirit of Hven). Aimed at beginners as well as connoisseurs, the book encompasses everything you need to know to increase your appreciation of this complex and fascinating spirit. Iconic distilleries such as Lagavulin, Highland Park and Glenrothes in Scotland are fully explored alongside the bourbon innovators of Kentucky such as Woodford Reserve and Makerโs Mark. From global brands to tiny craft distillers, this book offers a comprehensive overview of the best dram the world over. Review: The Perfect Guide for a Whiskey Lover! - I bought this as a gift for my husband and it was an excellent choice. He loves whiskey and prior to buying this book had been exploring whiskies from the Islay's. He was very into the different styles of whiskies from different areas of just Ireland, so I thought this would be the perfect read for him. The nice thing is there are a lot of features about different whiskey distilleries and lots of info about each different featured whiskey. There are whiskies in all different price ranges, so you certainly do not have to be rich to read the book and explore, but I'm sure my husband took mental notes of a few extremely high end whiskies he would like to try. It's hard not to. This is a really great guide for someone who wants to explore different styles of whiskey from all over the world. It's also a great coffee table book. If company comes over it's a good book for all the pictures and people like reading random blurbs of different whiskies. I think this book could even inspire someone who is curious about whiskey, but has NO CLUE where to start or someone who wants to start off with a good experience. Review: An Outstanding Reference Book! - Covers the world, though about 1/3 of the book is devoted to Scotland, whom we all know makes some darn good whisky. Starts with what makes a whisky/whiskey, how, when and where it is produced. You will find yourself making a shopping list as you go through the book because the author piques your interest in different styles. He limited the book to what he considered the 750 best. American bourbon, rye, Tennessee whiskey, and even corn whiskey are covered and the author does not "talk down" any particular style (though Islay scotch seems to receive his most loving prose). He has vignettes throughout the book of distilleries throughout the world and those articles are as interesting as reading about the drinks themselves. An outstanding reference! Before this book I never had tried a single malt scotch, but now Pandora's box is opened. I have yet to find a whisky from the book that I didn't love. Really opened my world to whisky and I find myself having one dram a night. Thank you, Mr. Roskrow!

A must have for whiskey experts & novices
I bought this for my husband and wanted to give it to him with a bottle of whiskey he hasn't tried yet. I took it to the store with me as a guide to help choose a bottle. The store owner and a random customer both flipped through this book and declared it awesome. They both took pics of it saying they were going to order it for themselves. It was a hit with the hubby too. Tons of information in this book. It's the perfect gift for any whiskey lover and even for those curious about whiskey. Highly recommend!!!

A detailed and useful resource for whisky fans.
Author and whisky industry expert Dominic Roskrow, has complied a collection of reviews on some of the best whiskies you can find from around the world. There is a lot to explore in this volume, including spotlights on specific distilleries, tasting notes on hundreds of bottlings, and personal insights from his years spent writing about this industry. It is an entertaining and educational read, and worth adding to any whisky lover's reference material.

Informative, with great writing
This book is a gem. I bought one for myself and have bought 3 more for friends. It's packed with information and the writing style is very entertaining. Who else compares whiskey to rock concerts? A great reference and a fun read. One complaint: Amazon has DOUBLED the price, from $16 to $32 but there are Amazon sellers offering it for $18 + $4 shipping.

Good for the whiskey novice
Being a whiskey novice (not in terms of drinking but in terms of background and details) I found this book very interesting and informative, which is what I was looking for. The quality of the book is excellent.

A wonderful gift for a whisky lover
"The World's Best Whiskies" is a beautiful book which would look great on any coffee table. The scenic photos are a delight and the photos of whisky bottles and labels are very helpful when going to the liquor store. I love the descriptions of the flavours such as camp coffee, burnt treacle, olives or German sausage (!), which are remarkably accurate. It inspired me to search out new brands, and to re-visit my old favourites with a more critical palate. This is an attractive, well-written, beautifully presented book for whisky lovers everywhere.
