Taste amazing!
What a difference! These Spanish sardines are amazing. They taste delicious and the quality is top grade. I am always looking for ways to incorporate protein into my diet. These are perfect for that. They are totally worth every penny. The texture is perfect. They are my new go to for a quick meal on the go, or just as a healthy snack.

Good product, good transaction.
Very tasty fish. Can to can the product is very consistent and well packed. The can contains 4 fish which is 1 more than the brand I was using which gets the per-unit price more attractive. If I had to provide a knock on it I would cite the level of 'spice'. I wouldn't call it 'very' spicy but almost not spicy at all. I didn't take a star off for this because it really is a matter opinion and taste. One man's hot is another man's mild, or so they say. I augment the fish with a bit of spicy Harissa Sauce so I'm good. Recommended. Enjoy.

Nice quality sardines and oil, not very spicy
Easy to open can. 4 belly up, nicely sized whole Pilchard sardines that are neatly arranged. The deens' texture is on the drier side if you're comparing to Nuri, but still very enjoyable to eat by themselves. I did notice a couple scales in my cans, which may be off putting to some, but if you're comparing to Flower Moroccan sardines, Matiz have much less. The oil tasted nice, but I would not say this can is spicy by any means. I have consistently found 1 pepper in my cans, which doesn't seem to bring much heat. Not something hot sauce can't fix. In terms of value, these are good quality sardines, but for me, this would be a 'splurge' can, not a daily driver. Though Nuri is my ideal 'splurge' can, they are getting harder to find and more expensive, this might be a nice alternative. If you get this can, try heating it up with hot tap water for a little bit before opening.

Spain has the best canned seafood. This is a good affordable entry to that world.
This like all other Matiz sardines are the #1 quality sardines for this price range. You can pay more for uber high quality Spanish sardines and perhaps someday I will try them. Until my trust fund ship sails into port these are my top choice and are better than any other sardines. These are my favorite because they have a little spicy pepper but don't be turned off too much as these aren't very hot. Full transparency - I wished they were about 5 times as hot but whatever they are still great flavor. My wife prefers the lemon flavored ones which also have a subtle flavor that you would never notice if these were poor quality fishy tastin' ones. Packed in olive oil so healthy Omega-3's are here to be had in the right oil for healthy living. These only come in hole fishes without the heads so if you are looking for fillets then look for kippers and not these. To me this is no big deal but some folks need to know. I began with smoked kippers and if you are a little squeamish like me that's where you probably need to start as well. Just work your confidence up to whole sardines and try these first before those cheap ones you find in the store.

Best sardines I've ever had - fantastic for keto folks during Lent
Bottom line: if you are in need of a pescatarian keto meal, these are THE BEST. Ate these with mashed avocado and fresh pico de gallo (tomato, onion, cilantro). They're so tasty, it barely feels like Fish Friday! Bet they'd be great with poached or scrambled eggs. Very similar flavor to Bela's peri peri sardines, but whereas Bela has 4-5 sardines to the can, Matiz had only 3. Firmer texture. Major difference is that I don't need to drain the oil in the Matiz. It's very mild and smooth, and not too much salt (the Bela is VERY salty). Neither is all that spicy in my opinion, but then I like spicy food and have a high tolerance. Could be my imagination, but the Matiz sardines smell less strong than the Bela...I don't get as many comments at work on how my lunch smells! Lol. If you like flavorful sardines and the barest hint of spice, you'll like the Matiz.

PROP 65 warning. Now you know!!!
There’s a problem with the Matese while spicy sardines.. I purchased it twice and discovered based on another review that there is a prop 65 warning on the box. I went and search of that warning on my box and it did not exist. So I just ignored the review and re-ordered the sardines because they taste delicious. My second order arrived with a prop 65 warning. This is very disturbing.. be very careful with this brand because they are deceiving us. Also, when I placed my second order of the price had gone up a whopping six dollars. When I just went back to put my review, it dropped back down six dollars within days of placing the second order. I don’t trust the seller. They are dangerously dishonest and it’s not OK. Now there’s nothing wrong if you have to have a prop 65 warning on your product. That’s not the issue. The issue is you intentionally hid this warning. It’s not on any of the listing photos, but it’s definitely on the package. See the image attached, please. Very deceitful and for that reason I cannot recommend. This product can cause cancer. I will do what the seller should’ve done and tell the truth.. Now you know. Proceed at your own risk.
