Good Product
The product lists exactly what it is. If you have an Xbox 360 that is still under warranty, send it in and let someone else deal with it. If you are like me however, and that warranty is long out the door, why not spend 20 bucks and fix it yourself. Now if you are someone who has no experience with electronics and such, you will definitely want to do some research before attempting this fix. Just make sure to do your homework first. Luckily for me, I have been tearing electronics apart since I was a kid (which didn't help my case during birthdays and Christmas) and have replaced these lasers on a couple of Playstation 2 consoles. This was my first 360 laser replacement, and I will say that the ps2 was quite a bit easier. The main reason I wanted to write this review was to inform other potential buyers about the solder blob that MUST BE REMOVED before this laser will function. If you zoom in on the item picture, you can see it on the bottom image just to the right of the white rectangular connector. DO NOT attempt to remove this any other way than with a soldering iron and desoldering wick, braid, sucker, etc. What I mean is, don't think that you can get away with an exacto knife and a space heater or something. You can find videos demonstrating these desoldering techniques, and I recommend you use that to your advantage. Also make sure you always take all necessary precautions to prevent injury to yourself and anyone near you. If you do as I say you should have it working again like new in no time. If you wanna go against the grain and NOT listen to me, well you may end up slicing off a pinky, burning your house down, and then you'll have to wait 3 weeks for the Microsoft service center to fix it for the low low price of $99.99I hope this helps someone and doesn't confuse or deter anyone.

Terrible policies.
I originally ordered one of these lasers to replace a burned out laser I had. They mistakenly shipped me a complete drive instead. Not knowing their company policy I opened the drive and switched out the laser to my old drive to see if that would work. It didn't as the new laser is a garbage refurbished laser as many here have stated. I tried resetting the pot resistance but that didn't even fix the problem. Then when I tried to return the drive (with the laser reinstalled) the seller refused return because the drive had been opened. Now here's the interesting part. In order to use the drive as it was intended I would have either had to 'flash' the hardware or switched the board out of my old drive into this one. Both of these solutions require you to open the drive. This means that if you order one of their drives and find out too late that its a lemon then you are stuck with it without any recourse as they won't accept a return. This is an extremely poor business practice and I refuse to do business with VideoGameAdvantage in the future and I would definitely advise anyone against doing business with this company in the future. Amazon on the other hand handled everything as it should have been with quick shipping and support and I as always give them a 5 star rating.Edit: 3/19/14. I filed a complaint with the company via the Better Business Bureau on 2/21/2014. As of today the complaint has been closed without results. According to the BBB they notified VideoGameAdvantage of this complaint twice and each time gave the company 14 days to respond to the complaint either to myself or to the local BBB office in NJ. Needless to say VideoGameAdvantage ignored this case entirely. The Better Business Bureau noted that this will go into their review on the company. I will next contact the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs to see if I can resolve this issue and finally get my money back.

Very Happy
Had to adjust the potentiometer to get it to work, but I expected that. Still it works very well at 4k ohms. It has been in use since the day it arrived. Over 100 hrs of use and no problems. Recommend this buy to those with the necessary technilogical know-how.

Fifty Fifty
Have purchased a few of these, and the title says it best. Its a fifty fifty shot of getting onethat actually works out of the box for more than a week. DEFINETLY check the DVD Pot resistancebefore you install these. It should be between 3100 and 4600 ohms. I have had more than one ofthese that came out of the box set at a ridiculously low 1200-2200 ohms. That low and it burnsout the laser in less than a month, if it even works at all (One didn't). Adjusting the low onesup to 3100 has been about 50/50.If you order these lasers to repair a drive and want it to work for more than a week, you better order two.

Excellent option to get rid of your disk errors
Works perfectly good wih your X-Box 360. It'sthe best option to get your damaged disk reader back in track. If you have a disk error or your xbox 360 cannot read the disk this is the solution right here. With a little assembling work and a regurar small screw driver you can fix it. All you have to do is:1. Identify the disk reader model (most likely you will find it in the tag or plate on the disk reader). Make sure the laser lens are compatible with the brand and model of your disk reader unit.2. Look for "how to" videos in the internet and follow the simple instructions. That's it...!!You also have the option to replace the whole disk reader but there is a risk you might want to consider. You will have to copy the firmware and put it in the new unit before you start your xbox 360. If you don't do it right, Microsoft can spot these easely and your account will be banned. For sure, you don't want this to happen.Good luck.

Terrible
I ordered one of these lasers after mine burned out and they sent me a garbage refurbished laser with a POT resistance around 2. So I returned it and they sent me another laser that was just as bad. All these guys are doing is scamming.
