Winsor & Newton Artists' Oil Paint, 37ml Tube, Alizarin Crimson

As an artist, I have every brand of paint, but nothing beats Winsor Newton. As the years pass, some tubes get hard and only with a palette knife, will the paint be malleable. Other times, the oil separates from the pigment and makes a mess. But with WN, I never have that problem. Juicy, great pigment, never separates and very reasonably priced. There colors are consistent, coverage is great, and goes on smoothly. As I replace old, used tubes, I gravitate to this brand.

Terra Rosa. One of the very best fully opaque single pigment oil paint colors on the market. The handling and covering power is perfect. This mixing friendly orange is a "go to" color. It is always part of my basic palette. If you like mixing beautiful blacks and pastel oranges; this is the one to have. It doesnt sink in, dries at a medium rate, is not a thug, and pops at full strength. I pray this color is never discontinued.

Winsor and Newton oil paints are the primary workhorse on my palette. I have used this brand for years. The paints are consistent in strength and texture. I know that if I blended 2 colors last year that I will get the same result this year from new tubes. Paintings that i did in in the early 90's are still true in color today. As to quality, I would rate this brand right up there with more expensive brands.

I have never used this brand before. It is a little different from what I am used to. The color was not the same but close. I used the paint to cover up places that the wood stain did not take. Worked like a charm. I mixed it with other colors to match the wood. Paint dried in about 7 hours which is what I expected. It washed out of brushes with turpentine and soapy water without a hitch. No complaints.

I have been an artist for years but just recently got interested in painting with oils. Since I already had brushes and supplies I just bought a cheap introductory paint set from Walmart to try out the medium. I had a lot of fun with the oil paints and loved the thickness of the paint but noticed I had to use a quarter of a small tube every time I wanted to paint anything. For a regular size painting it took half a tube of the white paint, so I decided to upgrade and purchase a larger, higher quality tube. The difference between these paints and the cheaper paints is as plain as black and white. The pigments in Winsor and Newtons paints are beautiful, vibrant, and much stronger. A small dab of the Titanium White does the same job as a half tube of the cheaper paint you get at your local mall. Winsor and Newton paints have a buttery consistency that is a joy to paint with. I plan to replace all my cheap paints with these higher quality paints as soon as possible. To anyone wondering if the higher price paints are worth it, they definitely are!! You can get away with cheap acrylics and watercolors but if you plan on taking up oil painting as a hobby, get the good paints.
