I gave it up when I had my son and we live in such a small apartment that I wasn't comfortable painting with turpentine and other harsh chemicals around my small infant. I had read that back in the day lavender oil was the medium of choice and I can understand why. My paintings would smell absolutely amazing and blending with it was very easy, however it would take days to dry and it got expensive quick. I will keep the paintings I made with them because they are like portable air fresheners. I went on a mad search looking for the supplies I would need to start oil painting again. Most brush cleaners are incredibly toxic and if you aren't 2 it's very easy to avoid ingesting them. However I do have a young child who makes it a habit to try to kill himself at least once a day. I did a lot of research and finally found this! I'm not saying you should pour it in a glass and drink it and it won't be dangerous however by the off chance that my adventurous 2 year old pulls a chair to the cabinet, breaks the child lock, opens my painting containers, pulls this out, dumps it, and puts his fingers in his mouth I won't have to have a heart attack while I take him to the er. For anyone without a child they will probably see this as expensive and useless but I see that it is nontoxic and that's all I need to justify any price. Luckily the price isn't too bad either because this works wonderfully to clean my brushes! It doesn't have an incredibly offensive smell and it is delicate enough to use on my brushes. I spent quite a bit of money on my brushes so I wanted to find something that wouldn't damage them. All in all this is a great buy and as soon as I run out I will be buying more. I've used turpenoid natural for all of my color pencil portaits! I’m not sure why you would unless your using it for something specific. I haven't used it as a solvent for painting, yet. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It does have a odor *by J***G on July 31, 2016* This cleaner is NOT odorless. It does have an odor which goes away when you remove the solution from the room. It cleans brushes well, but sometimes the brushes need a second dipping into a bit of the solution. It does not remove dried oil paint from brushes very well. Just make sure you clean the brush before the paint completely dries onto the bristles of the brush. Don't leave the brush in this solution for more than five minutes, or your brush bristles will probably begin to gradually fall out. I only use it as a brush cleaner and not a thinning solution because it interferes with the drying process of the oil paint...even preventing the paint from "ever" completely drying. It is non toxic which is what I like.
