KastKing Megatron Spinning Fishing Reels with 5.2:1 Gear Ratio

The KastKing Megatron reel is one of my new favorite. Everything works like a standard spinning reel. The feel is great, works nice and smooth. The handle is made out of polished aluminum, so it feels real stout. Works as well as big named competitors. It has no problems fishing above its weight class, and functions smooth under heavier fish. Never tried KastKing before, but it genuinely impressed me. Some say its "good for the price". Price aside, its just genuinely good. It outperforms more expensive competitor reels that I own. Definitely going to shop more KastKing in the futur.

Used 2 of these for crab snaring. 6000 size. While a bit smaller than other brand 6000 size reels, these held their own just fine. If anything I appreciate the smaller size and lighter weight reel. Smooth reeling, easy to use, holds a lot of line to size, casts without issue, all in a smaller size than typical. Even with 2-3 crabs on one snare, they don’t hold me back reeling them in from 60-80 yards of surf and beach. Only thing I have to wait for is their longevity, surf casting has killed everything I have used in the past. Only time and rust will tell if these were a worthy purchase. I do my best to maintain my equipment, but most reels last 3-4 seasons max before the bearings rust through and they die! I’m hoping these two 6000s last! So far I’m impressed.

Its smooth, reel is nicely made, like the fact it has alot of bearings to The reel for smooth retreval, some reels have like 2 or 3 bearings, what i dont like is it has a reverse switch in the front, its not useful for me never have i ever used that switch ever, im so used to the ones that dont have it, if that switch breaks the reel is no good anymore. Other than that it is a good reel

This has been a great replacment reel. It casts and retrieves great and the drag works great, too. I've caught some nice Trout that gave some good runs and the drag worked liked a charm. My only minor complaint is that the specs stated this reel would hold 300 yards of 20lb mono. It doesn't, I got to 200 yards and the reel was full. Which is fine, I don't need 300 yards of line anyway. LOL.. I just thought it was odd.

EXCELENT REEL! nice size, about the avrg for most brands, great line capacity, sealed, i just wish it was more strong, the build is light, sleek, but the neck for the reel it self to the fitting for the rod is a little weak, the sleek hollowed out design takes some stability away, neck bent when i was fishing, and it did scratch easily but obviously it doesn't affect performance, i'm a control freak, but i was saltwater fishing in Hawaii so if your freshwater or using smaller sizes its great!

Really impressed with this reel and I've purchased and used many many over the years. SUPER smooth operations and drag system. I'll be purchasing more!!!

I caught the largest fish of my life so far on this Megatron. 30 1/2”, 14 lbs stripped bass. This fish had that drag screaming but I finally got the fish in and if it would have hit a different rod it would not have turned out the way it did. This reel can take big hard fighting fish and this has made me a believer in this brand. Yes there are reels out there that can out do this one. But not for this price. If you want a good solid reel that don’t break the bank, this is it.

THE PRO's. I picked up the reel about 4 months ago. Out of the box, it looks awesome. The 3000 is a smaller size reel with a deep spool. I liked that it was compact and paired nicely with the KastKing Perigee II 7ft MH rod. Performed well, I liked the metal body and it felt strong when reeling in 5-10 lb sheepheads and sea trout that I caught on it. THE CONS. The reel started hesitating after a hour or so of fishing in saltwater with multiple retrieves and fish. After a freshwater rinse it would seem to get better but, each time out after the first hour or so it started sticking again. The saltwater must be entering from under the spool getting the spray. I've never submerged the reel and rinsed it with fresh water after using. I had a similar issue with the valiant eagle reel from kast king. Also, I began noticing the finish peeling/flaking off which I assume is another issue with the saltwater and the metal body. Overall, great reel. Super strong, great drag and very smooth when it's working properly. BUT!! It's not Saltwater ready. Look for a reel that is SEALED. Kast King offers the Spartacus 2 in a sealed version and the sharky 3 with a water resistant channeling feature called KISS. I may try one of those. For now I got a deal on a penn combo to replace the megatron. While not the smoothest they seem to hold up better to the saltwater.
