Tools 86 05 250 10-Inch Pliers Wrench with Comfort Grip

These Knipex 10-inch pliers wrenches feel seriously substantial in hand that’s built to handle real abuse without complaint. The best pliers that leave no marks on bolts. Just finished a bathroom and kitchen sink job at my home. Replace an entire toilet to one of those self “rear end” washing toilets for my wife. Adjustments was easy to use and the functionality of not taking off to adjust saves so much time. The length is a good size as I can use it on most household and car projects, it’s also light weight too. I’m glad I got the comfort grip as I can really squeeze the bolts off off. I like the functionally because I don’t have to keep adjusting and it auto adjust for me. Great purchase, very high quality tool. Cost a lot, but it saves me so much time and the quality is very high.

I really like Knipex. I don't think anyone else makes a product just like this...these are unique. So what is it? This is not some channellock type tool. Channellock pliers change the angle of the pliers as you adjust them. Channellocks have aggressive teeth that dig into a fastener and damage them. These pliers keep the gripping surface parallel to each other at all times. You press the little button to slide the adjuster open or closed. Another things is that when using channellock type pliers, you have to squeeze the handles together. You only need to put pressure on the top handle. There is no squeezing involved. I used this to remove an O2 sensor when the actual O2 sensor socket wasn't able to get it to budge. Don't tell Knipex but you can put a pipe on the top handle to get more leverage. (do this at your own risk I guess) These are not a cresent type wrench either but it is a great replacement for a cresent wrench. (it is much closer to being a better version of a cresent wrench that it is to being a channel lock type plier) I don't think I will be using a cresent wrench ever again. Both cresent wrenches and channellocks type pliers tend to round off bolts and nuts. Cresent wrenches don't stay tight. These tend to work much much better than either one of those. The design is really cool too. I'm not sure about the comfort grip to be honest. It is nice but now this doesn't match my other Knipex tools. They sell one with the normal Knipex red handles. If I were doing it again, I probably would get that one. It is still a 5 star product in my mind though.

With this you always have a tight grip on the fastener. Much less likely to slip than an adjustable wrench. Quality is outstanding. Great for installing taps as smooth jaws and tight grip minimize the chance of damage (I do add a couple of pieces of electrical tape to the jaws as well for tap installation) Faster than a regular or adjustable wrench in many instances because you can loosen off, rotate and tighten again without having to totally remove the tool from the fastener, it works like a kind of ratcheting open end wrench. There is enough 'feel' in the tool that you can easily use it one handed even without direct line of sight to the fastener.

Bought it because it was on sale, and I've wanted one just because. Less than a week after I bought it, I had to do an oil change. Regular ratchet couldn't loosen the drain bolt, wrench couldn't get enough leverage, even tapping a wrench with a mini-sledge was a no go. Whoever changed this oil last really slammed that bolt home with an impact wrench. I finally grab this thing because I couldn't find my 3/8 extra-long extension ratchet. It grips solidly, and with a little muscle on it, easily starts turning the drain bolt without slipping. Regular slip-joint pliers would have risked rounding the nut, but the big flats on this wrench and solid lock-up made it easy. I thought I'd be waiting a while for a task to justify buying this, because it's expensive, and has a lot of overlap, funtion-wise, with other tools I have. One frustration-ending use less than a week later and I'm feeling very satisfied with the purchase.

The wrench itself is a good design, I like it. But the item I received was an open box (security label cut open and has an LPN label on it). I am curious as to why that is, if it's it listed as new, it should be a new item, if it's refurbished, it should be listed as such.

I'm the sort that uses some form of wrench every day, from minor plumbing to heavy work on a 50 ton overhead crane. This is my new favorite tool, instantly inserted into my carry around bag. Obviously need a pair of groove joint pliers to complement it for when dealing with something round (stuck hydraulic fittings, garden hose, etc.), but for anything that has a bolt head to it (hex or square) that you can sneak it onto, it's great. The simple act of removing pressure from the handles loosens the jaws enough to rotate it around the fastener, and applying gentle pressure seems to "find" the flats quickly. In other words, it's almost as fast as a ratcheting wrench. I have the ten inch version, and it seems you can put a huge amount of torque on them. I'm going to have to buy another pair for work, as these are not leaving my sight. I can't say enough good things about this item. One use was enough to make me actually stop and stare at the tool in wonder - great build, seems rather tough (a couple years will prove how tough, but I've got faith in 'em), easy to use, and very intuitive. Knipex hit a home run with these.

Really high quality. Marked well, can be locked in very accurately as so many settings. The comfort grip is a nice bonus.
