Nutramax Dasuquin MSM Joint Supplement, Large Dogs Chewable Tablets, 150ct

My dog, Miles, is a 100 lb., 28" at the withers mix of...probably American Bulldog, Pointer and some breed with super-thick, silky fur. When I got him from the shelter at 4 weeks old he weighed 5 lbs and looked exactly like the Am Staff who became his mother. Then he grew, and grew and grew. When he was young I thought he must be part Greyhound, because he was SO FAST, but also part Kangaroo, because he could literally leap from a standing position over and across a 6' wide bed of roses 6' high. His favorite pasttime was going to the park and searching for tennis balls, which I would throw as far as I could and which he would fetch at lightening speed, there and back, and drop at my feet. His vet always advised against allowing him to run and jump, by the way, because it's not good for his joints. RIGHT! Don't allow your extremely athletic dog to do what it was born to do! So, eventually Miles started limping after a particularly active day tearing out the dog door to bark at squirrels in the back yard. I took him to the vet, who wanted to do x-rays and blood tests and "establish a baseline" and "identify what is going on." Yeah, except that I'd done all that with the Am Staff who was Miles' mother, who "might have developed a food allergy" to the tune of $80 per bag of food and hundreds of dollars for meds per month for more than a year (thousands and thousands of dollars in total) only to find out at the end that she had cancer. No, Miles has sore joints. Anyway, within a couple days of starting Miles on Dasuquin with MSM, he stopped limping. No x-rays, no blood work, no "establishing a baseline." He continued tearing across the house, slamming up against the washer and flinging himself out of the dog door in order to bark at squirrels, but in the evenings he didn't limp. He's been taking Dasuquin for a couple years now (at the same time he's recognizing his own limitations, so he doesn't rip and tear out of the house so much), and he rarely limps anymore. But he does get very excited when I go in my back yard, and I've been working on my garden recently so he's been racing around the back yard and limping a little in the evenings. So I increased his dose of Dasuquin to two per day and he's been completely limp-free and happy, racing around the yard like a puppy. My vet would want to take a blood test to make sure Miles' liver is processing the meds and so forth and so on, and take x-rays of his hips and legs to make sure there's no fractures or tears or whatever. And thousands and thousands of dollars later, she'd determine that Miles has large-dog-hip-joint issues and needs to take it easy, which is never going to happen. Or she'd find he has a disease, which would also require him to take it easy, which is never going to happen. Or she'd tell me to rest him, ...which is never going to happen. Miles is a dog's dog -- he's the happiest dog I've ever met -- and he needs to run free and chase wild beasts. Dasuquin with MSM allows him to be his dog-self, pain-free! {I'm not saying that anyone should diagnose their pets or use Dasuquin instead of visiting the vet. I'm just saying that in the case of my dog, he might have some disease or some fracture or some other issue, but when he takes Dasuquin with MSM the problem goes away. When he acts sick, I'll take him to the vet. But for now, we're managing his issues with Dasuquin.)

I am a huge fan of Nutramax Dasuquin! I'm also a bargain hunter and penny pincher, so I dislike the pricetag, but it's worth every penny you spend. My vet recommended this product for my Choclate Lab when we had to have one of her front legs amputated after an accident. We found her as a stray, but after spending so much money on her surgery, I fell in love and kept her. With that in mind, I also have two other large breed dogs; a 7 year old Sheppard mix and a 3 year old Great Dane/ Hound mix. After my 5 year old Lab became a Tri-Pod, I was concerned about Arthritis creeping up and wanted to do everything I could to help her remain comfortable for as long as possible. That is when this product came into play. She hasn’t missed a beat and I’ve had praise report after praise report from the vet about her bones and joints. It’s now been almost three years since her surgery and we are still seeing no signs of slowing down. My 7 year old Sheppard had started showing his age a year or so ago by getting up a little slower and it seemed his legs were giving him a hard time when he laid down too long. I started giving him the Dasuquin and a month or so into it, it’s as if he’s reverted back to a few years ago. He by no means acts like a puppy again, but you can tell that he gets around with more ease. My thought with this Vitamin is more preventative than reactive. I didn’t want to wait until my dogs were in so much pain, so I’ve been giving it to the young along with Fish Oil and have received good news after good news from our vet as to their health. I don’t claim this to be a Miracle working tablet, but I think it’s the best out there right now and if you are serious about helping your pets receive relief from joint pain and issues, this is the way to go. I’m 3+ years now using this product and I’m just as impressed as I was the first month I noticed a difference. IF you are on the fence about it—give it a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

My newfie was a completely different dog after starting these. Literally night and day. She walks faster, runs, jumps, and is overall much happier and healthier.

So happy they come in tablet form as my dogs absolutely refused the soft chews. These came highly recommended by my veterinarian. I first purchased the soft chews and my dogs didn't like them. Amazon gave me a refund and I used it to buy the tablets, best decision I've made. Looking forward to positive results from these.

I have a 5yr old Great Dane who is genetically prone to have arthritis. He had Pano for nearly two years when he was a pup which left his joints susceptible to early onset arthritis. We try to keep him as lean as possible to ease the weight on his joints, but he still weighs about 140#. He is on a totally raw diet and we feed chicken feet as a natural source of glucosamine, but I would just have to fill his diet up with too many feet to get the amounts I was looking for. Raw diets are excellent choices, but we have to remember we are feeding some breeds that are NOT natural and sometimes it's important to supplement. My vet is an orthopedic specialist and eventually, he just sent me home with a giant bottle of Rimadyl and told me to keep my boy comfortable. No way! Since then, I have upped his natural glucosamine in his diet, I walk him once per day and have him swim every other day. And of course, I have been supplementing with Dasuquin with MSM. I noticed a difference after about two weeks which really made me happy to see. Great Danes don't realize how big they are and sometimes aren't very careful with themselves when they play. My guy, Bullwinkle, loves to chase my kids around the pool and he limps a little afterwards, because he takes the turn too fast! I've noticed his limping is far less significant while on the Dasuquin, even after an injury. I have never had to give him the horrid Rimdayl - just a couple buffered aspirins every once in a while if he seems painful. I really believe the best thing to do is start supplementing, especially in large dogs with big knobby joints, BEFORE there is a problem. You can't fix arthritis, you can just stop or slow the progression and you can add a little extra fluid to the joint, with supplements, to ease the discomfort. Giving a supplement like this one, can prevent these problems, giving your dog a chance to live a relatively pain-free life and will save you money in the long run. I have another, younger Great Dane, and she is taking the Dasuquin BEFORE any problems occur. I also give them to my English Bulldog since they too have funky wobbly knees. I feel confident that with their raw diet and Dasuquin supplements, I am doing the best for them that is possible. And to review specifically Dasuquin, yes it is pricey, but in the grand scheme of things, a few extra bucks a month is NOTHING compared to a senior dog's daily pain. Dasuquin with MSM has the customer backing I look for when purchasing any new product and the ingredients don't lie. I would definitely give this a shot - in just one bottle you should see a difference, so it's a one-time investment if you end up disliking the product - but what if you DO!

Everything I ordered was great except the lights they were supposed to spend motion and they wouldn’t stay on

I've had German Shepherds for 50 Years. We have a Male and a Female, both are Beloved Family Members. Same Father different Mothers. We feed both super Premium Dog Food" Victor Super Premium Performance Formula with Glucosamine and Selenium among other essential ingredients available only through Feed Stores. And FRESH water every day. For treats, Chicken Jerky MADE IN THE U.S.A. NEVER EVER CHINESE POISON/S. EVER. Their food was/is less excessive percentages of protein like many and less all kinds of fillers which should never be a dietary component to begin with. We've Never fed them marginal grade feeds like "Purina" etc. Despite my Boy was/is "OFA Certified" he developed significant dysplasia in his left hip at 19 months. Vet who I trust showed it to me clearly from his X-Rays as the ball (head) of his femur was actually sloppy in its socket. Joint replacement was near $11K (2007) with a recovery period difficult for most any breed let along these 2 knuckleheads. So, we tried Cosamine DS capsules first opening them and sprinkling on their food, and then recently this Dasuquin MSM simply because it contains the MSM where the DS capsules don't. Both products are made by the same Mfg. Normally I don't place much if ANY faith in OTC remedies for humans OR animals, but this may well save your pets life (cats etc. too) or major surgery while keeping YOU financially solvent. Though had it come joint replacement as the only way out I'd have found the damn money some way. Results with both products both times, (clinical observation and otherwise) have been NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING. His gait still has a fairly pronounced "hop", but he has Zero problems walking/standing or anything else he cares to fo do I limit my boy's exercise to 95% swimming in a nearby lake summer and winter, but he can and will take off FULL SPEED NO whenever the spirit moves him. He shows little if any problems in the occasional wet/humid weather though rare here in the SW. For these rare occasions it is damp/humid/wet. we keep Rimadyl on hand just in case he might feel it. We've used it maybe 5-6 times over the years though we religiously feed him the Cosamin supplements. About a year ago we ran out and had to mail order it. They were without it for almost 2 wks. and his original symptoms slowly returned and we had to once again build them back to the maintenace dose. Our Girl, the Consummate Alpha Female, is not OFA Certified though we maintain her on it too as a purely preventative measure even though she's never shown even a hint of joint trouble. Or Thank God anything else except that both were bitten by Copperheads they fortunately and easily recovered from. We love them Profoundly. Both hold ScH and Fight Instinct (drive) certification clearly and clearly demonstrated on one occasion a hair trigger disposition to place their lives in front of ours. Intense, profound Loyalty. My Wife, our Kids. and me. In comparison to humans a dog's life is far too SHORT as it is. I love them so much I sometimes wish I'd go first. If you think this is taking it "too far" or I'm "crazy" I don't give a Damn. They're but one of God's very special gifts to us. A Pure and special love. Unwavering loyalty and protection of us, their "pack" which we endeavor to return however and whenever we possibly can. If you have a Pet you even suspect has mild to even life style altering joint problem/s I sincerely urge you check with your Veterinarian then use these products. Strangely enough, I've spoken to too many pet owners completely unaware of Cosamin DS or Dasuquin MSM as well as even a couple of Vets we've met. Now YOU know. Sorry for being long winded, but the rest is up to YOU.

Two months ago I was at my vet's office trying not to cry while we discussed "options" for my beloved Emma, my 12 year old Old English Sheepdog. She had pretty severe arthritis that was making it more and more difficult for her to get up off the floor or move around, and the inevitable results of that were almost daily accidents, and my having to pick Emma up off the floor almost every time she needed up. I knew she wasn't doing well, but I wanted to make sure I'd exhausted all my options before the dreaded "final" option. She'd been on meloxicam, Tramadol, Gabapentin, and cortisone with limited success, and the obvious side effects of each. I started looking on my own for some alternative after my vet told me that cortisone pills were Emma's last option. That's when I found Dasuquin. There are many products on the market, and it can be confusing to figure out which ones work. Because of reading previous reviews about Nutramax Dasuquin with MSM, I decided that this was worth a try. I don't regret it. It's been five weeks since she's been on it, and I haven't seen "miraculous" recovery with Emma, but I have definitely seen a change for the better! (For the record, I still give her the meloxicam also, since it's an anti-inflammatory.) She couldn't barely walk to the end of my street without seeming in pain, and now she jogs to the end and back. She couldn't get herself off the floor, and now she can make it up and out the back door to take care of business outside, instead of in. When her friend Sadie comes over to play, Emma bounces all over the backyard like she used to - she'll tire Sadie out! Emma's an old dog, and she gets winded just like all old dogs do, but she looks happy now when she plays - she actually CAN play now. It took a while for Emma to get to the point where the arthritis was seriously affecting her quality of life, and it has taken a while to get her back to the point where she can move unassisted, but I really do believe in Nutramax Dasuquin with MSM, because I've seen what it's done for my beloved "puppy". I used to call her "Fluffy Bunny" because of how much she bounced and played, and I can call her that again. I am continuing with the Dasuquin. The expense is worth it, to know it's helping Emma.

These are a life saver for anyone with a dog who is older or who has suffered a CCL tear. Awesome product!

Despite the product title these are for LARGE dogs, which is actually what the "technical details" section says. Don't worry if you make the same mistake I did as you CAN get a refund, despite what it says it you try to process a Return. If you go to the Support chat, it will process a Refund, but you don't need to Return the item... so, do what I did and donate it to my local dog rescue!

I have a 7½ year old German Shepherd. I started giving her Nutramax twice a day for five weeks. She now gets one a day. I have noticed a difference. Her hips don't seem to be bothering her to the extent they were while out on our walks. She has more energy. Great product.

Highly recommended product. My 11.5 year old Golden Retreiver diagnosed with Arthritis is remarkably better. He was having trouble getting up and would often fall down while on a walk. He would often groan in pain and became disinterested in most things. But now, he is back to his old self (one needs to remember he is still a senior dog). He gets up easily and has started enjoying his walks again. He is galloping after his ball again and it has been a while since I have heard him groan. Took 2-3 weeks for the initial result and we continued to see gradual improvement beyond that. It has now been 4 months and the results are marvelous. My dog weighs a little over 30 kg and we give him 3 tablets daily, one each in the morning, afternoon and night.
