Very good summary teaching material

This book is a gem for anyone who already knows English and wants to familiarize themselves with what the IELTS exam looks for,it is loaded with very important tips as you go by,is divided by section to teach you each of the sections separately,has10 practice tests,has answers to check back and see what mistakes you made hence become conscious of those mistakes and comes with a CD for the listening and speaking test,I made a good choice and I passed my IELTS with an overall of 8out of 9 and even got 9 out of 9 in the reading! And I did it all with just this one book.I would recommend this book any day for students who already speak English and are looking to excel.

Great valuable information, its contents prepares very well for the IELTS test. Not only the test itself but many interesting topics nice reading has increased my vocabulary immensely also many new things I've learned. I bought this book 4 months before my IELTS exam. And this was the only study material I used. The content is concise and the tips provided in this are valuable. The study pattern I followed was: 1. Read all the chapters and understand what kind of questions are asked in the exam in the first 4-5 weeks. 2. Solve the practice tests one each week. I think this took about 8 weeks. The practice tests helped me out a lot, since the actual exam follows the exact same pattern as those given in the book. It gave me confidence for appearing for the test. The accompanying CD was valuable as well - since it contains the audio for listening sections and provides a preview of how the speaking section is handled by students. Along with that, youtube videos are useful for speaking practice. Only negative I can think of is the price - way too expensive for the content provided.

Cambridge study guide for IELTS is the most up-to-date and comprehensive source for anyone trying to score good in the exam. The language and structure of the book is very easy and useful. Lots of examples and study tests are included which give you ample opportunity to learn and improve. Best book on the market for IELTS.

I used this guide to prepare for my IELTS and I strongly recommend it to anyone who is attempting Academic IELTS. The guide has nice study and exam tips along with solid preparation material. Not to mention the 8 mock test papers with answer keys helps to prepare better for the test.

The perfect companion to guide the student to IELTS success. The most important part of the book which is dealing with the skills will definitely augment the student's abilities to do better during the day of the exam as these technicalities are absolutely essential. Nothing would be new to the student if quality time is spent working propitiously on the material. If we're confident enough to improve on our weak skill(s), therefore it would be better to work on the related area(s) only. However, if we're interested in deepening our knowledge on the IELTS exam or sitting the exam on the second or third time, I would advise to work on the whole book step by step as this will help us build a solid foundation of the exam and more !

I also took TOEFL before and the OG for TOEFL is way better than this. The book doesn’t really give you much info on how they grade speaking/writing, and the questions are dumb too. There are quite a few academic practice tests that make this book valuable but just a warning that the practice tests here are slightly easier than the IELTS 10-16 series. So this book can be something to start with but not good mock exams.

Very good book for preparing the certificate on your own or for a teacher to use as teaching material. Has detailesd practice exercises with explanations and then tests as well . It has interesting listenings, clear writing asignments with clear explanations on how it should be done, speaking units , reading, everything. Very well organised, clear, easy to use to teach.
