I used this as my text for Intro to Early English Literature. We read a lot of stories. I plan on keeping this book set because I am an English Major, and it's great for reference and historical anecdotes. I have had to purchase Norton Anthologies before and my biggest complaint was how big and bulky they are. I would have to carry it to class every day, but not ever need more than 30 pages in any one lecture. That's a lot of weight to my backpack, and I'm not a young student. I've seen students carry multiple large copies around for different English classes! This version though came broken up into three different sections, and I liked it much better because then I could just take the necessary volume to class and not lug around as much weight. Review: It is amazing how the English language has evolved - The textbook is mostly required in English major classes. I am using it for my English 230 class and the stories are fascinating! It is amazing how the English language has evolved!! You will read quite a majority of Anglo Saxon writings and will have to translate certain Latin roots and words to understand the poems and stories. For the shipping, the textbook came right on time; from what I remember, it arrived in 3 days and I didn't do fast shipping! lol.
