So this explains why my 2 gallon pot was barely able to fit into THIS 5 gallon pot. **Q: Are these one time use pots, or will they be able to be washed and reused a few times?** A: Reusable. I use the 7 gallon (trade) size and it will take 2-3 years for a plant to mature and produce a pineapple. Like you, I have to bring mine inside each winter and I will trim some of the lowest leaves to be able to make a little more room. Another hint is when you bring them in, you will need to put them in trays but I also put a wrap of clear cling wrap around the pot so when you water the plants, it doesn't leak out the sides and miss the tray.
