Must have
If you are new parent or buying for a new parent! This is an absolute must have. I did not purchase this until my baby was about a month old and I wish I had it so much sooner. As a new mom or dad when you are trying to settle a very cranky baby you find your self shushing so what feels like hours. This thing does the shushing for you! Saving your checks, jaws and lips from over tiredness. It can be really quiet of really loud, I love how adjustable it is. It is compact so you can easily take this everywhere with you. It will calm your baby! Only downfall is that it is runs on a 15 minute or 30 minute timer. You will have to restart it after the times done as there is jo way to keep in on as a constant noise.

LIFE SAVER!
My newborn literally can’t live without this thing! It has a 15 and 30 minute timer and can get VERY loud (if you want it to). It’s super easy to travel with and just needs batteries if you’re traveling. I will say, after talking to a couple other moms just make sure it’s the kind of “shushing” your baby prefers. It’s a nice slow shush but some babies really like the quick paced shush and this is not that. Highly recommend if your baby likes the slow shush.

Amazing product that saved our sanity at night.
Love it. It has been a total live saver. If you’re on the fence about whether you need a dedicated shusher, let me tell you—you do. Our LO loves rhythmic noise, and while making the "shushing" sound ourselves works, it’s exhausting to do for 20 minutes straight at 3 a.m. The Baby Shusher mimics a parents voice perfectly. It has two timer settings (15 and 30 minutes), which is usually more than enough time to get our LO to drift off or calm down. It’s small enough to toss in the diaper bag so easy to use on the go. Has an adjustable volume which comes in handy when a loud crying spell comes on, and easy and simple to use. No apps or screens. Just twist the top to turn it on. It has definitely made our bedtime routine much smoother. Highly recommend for any exhausted new parent!

Mom of twins
I know there are free apps for white noise and shushing, but the fact is, none of them have a speaker shaped liked this and there's just something about it that makes the shushing A LOT more effective. I have a nursery white noise machine and a MamaRoo bouncer/swing that comes with all kinds of noises but none work as well. I bought this when my twins were two months old, hoping it would buy me a few extra minutes of sleep here and there and it has!! Not just minutes either....I can hold one baby or another off from waking up so soon if I just turn this on. I really do love this thing. I stick it in a diaper bag or car seat when we're going somewhere or won't be home for naps. Batteries it comes with do not last very long, but the ones I replaced them with have and this thing gets used every day and night multiple times. The only thing I wish is that it had some sort of mechanism that made it come on once a baby starts fussing. You do have to turn it on manually and there is a 15 min and 30 min setting which is enough time to soothe a baby back to sleep. I find that if I turn it down as far as it will go BEFORE it shuts, the automatic cessation of the shushing doesn't wake them back up. I did make that mistake a few times that it was so loud and soothing, that when it went off, one started crying again....so I have to "wean" them off of the sound sometimes. You will feel crazy for spending this much money on a shusher, but it works! And anything that buys some more sleep time is worth it in my opinion!

Not durable, but until someone does it better, it may be a must
I’m hesitant to give this anything other than five stars, because if you have a baby with colic and this hasn’t broken yet, it is a life saver, and I found no adequate substitute for it. The negative thing is, it is not at all durable and it has design flaws, and it’s clear from reviews that these same problems have existed for years. This makes it seem like the maker is intentionally failing to fix the problems so that the item will break and you’ll have to buy another one, or at least won’t be able to pass it on to another family. Specifically, the speaker is on the bottom. The only way to set this down flat so it won’t roll is so that the speaker on the bottom is muffled. For the thing to work, then, you either have to set it down in a way where it will roll or to have it dangling off your wrist while you are trying to wrangle the screaming baby. This is a recipe for the thing falling to floor. And if that happens, odds are it will break. Mine fell from a cushioned dining chair to the floor, and even that distance was enough for it to break. On the one hand, $35 for increased peace for you and your screaming bay is worth it. On the other hand $35 for a basic speaker that does nothing but say “shhh” and breaks after a month seems steep.

Great for newborn sessions.
Works great for newborn sessions! The only thing I don’t love is that it only stays on for 30 minutes max. I wish it had an option to stay on. Other than that, great!

A great idea wrapped in terrible, cheap product design, sold at a premium price.
This thing was SUCH a disappointment. They took a great idea and just made a completely terrible product. For $10 I'd be fine with this, but for $35, it's going back. The pros: I does make a "shhhhhh" sound, which is great. And now the cons (you might want to freshen your quarantine cocktail): - It makes a shushing sound, but it will only do it for 15 or 30 minutes. If you want to shush longer, like all night for instance, you will have to keep getting up to cycle the power. Maybe they knew a constant-on would burn through batteries too fast (more on that in a min). The fact that you can't just set it to ON and leave it running is the primary reason I have decided this device is useless to me and needs to go back. - It is a highly directional speaker, meaning you can hear it pretty well if it's facing right at you, but it sounds very quiet if it's pointed away from you. But they designed it like a torpedo, so you can't stand it up with the speaker pointing at the baby's head. The speaker faces down if you stand it upright. The only flat surface is the one the speaker points at, so if you lay it on something next to the baby like a night stand, it might very well roll away. It will stay put just fine if you put it on a soft surface, like next to the baby's head in a crib, but that violates Safe Sleep protocol. A product design that incentivizes people to break Safe Sleep rules sounds like terrible design to me. - It's not super loud, so it has to be pretty close to the baby's head, depending on how loud you need the shushing. I bought this thing for the times when my baby is really pissed and I need pretty aggressive shushing, and it just doesn't cut it. The volume is fine for if baby is already calm and sleeping, but does nothing to soothe a baby that's already crying because it's not loud enough for him to hear over the noise he's already making. - Battery life. As others have said, buy lots of batteries. Why they didn't make this thing USB rechargeable like everything else is beyond me. At $35, it needs to have a rechargeable internal battery, like the $12 white noise machine we have. - Battery access: when the batteries die, first you'll think "didn't I just replace these?". Then you'll say "crap, it's 4AM, I have a screaming infant, and I have to go find some batteries AND a screwdriver". What fun! Some may say this is a safety consideration, but I challenge you to find an infant that needs a shusher that could possibly summon up the dexterity to get batteries out of a standard snap-on battery cover. My toddler could do it, but toddlers don't need this thing. When you put it back on, the battery cover lid is also the power switch, so don't screw it on too tight or you won't be able to turn it on. - Dead on arrival: this is a product that's designed to soothe unhappy babies. That means when a parent gets this, they're probably a little exhausted and frustrated. This is exactly the kind of product that needs to work when it arrives. I found a bunch of heavy grease (inexplicably inside of the battery compartment) covering the electrical contacts on the screw on cap, preventing it from turning on. I really, really wanted to like this thing. I was so excited to get it, and then so disappointed at how poorly this great idea was executed. What's worse, they basically have the market cornered - in a greenfield market, they could have made slight changes and actually had an excellent product. For $35, that's what they needed to do. But I cannot bring myself to spend that much money on a product that is so incredibly poorly and cheaply designed.

Actually writing this review at 4:42am as I literally can’t believe how good this device is. Baby is a very restless sleeper feeding every 2 hours or so. And normally can’t get him down to bed until 1 am in morning after being awake from t time bath time then he still wakes every 2 hours , he’s thriving but it’s extremely frustrating that he’s so hard to settle despite cuddling rocking , dim pink light sleep cloud sleep bear et etc we’ve tried them all. So this arrived yesterday, we did the normal routine bath massage etc bottke and around 9 we just thought we’d try our very wide awake baby in his next to me bed with this device … never thinking we’d also be able to go to sleep as this never happens … so as usual out baby fought the sleep grunting and growing and thashing about. ( 5 weeks old lol ) but there was silent phrases where we could tell the shushing of the device was taking affect After a good few tries to fight sleep off our nighthawk lost the battle to this device and was asleep. We also then went to sleep thinking in an hour or so hed be back up. …. So it was a huge surprise to look at clock to see time when he did wake. It was 12,10 am … so baby had around 4 hours sleep !!!! We fed changed winded and put back in cot and set the device going agajn … same thing … baba tried to fight the sleep but again lost the battle to the shushing .. we all fell asleep and next time baby woke was at 4:10 am …. That’s another 4 hours ! Fed changed winded back in cot , device back on and baby trying to fight sleep but device has won again and as I write this baby us fast asleep. . Only thing is … in now wide awake with excitement of how great this product works 😂

Good product, short lived
It worked great, baby loved it, incorporated it into bedtime and naps and it was great. The design is brilliant because it can live in the crib with baby safely and it’s better than an app because it frees up your phone and you don’t have to worry about someone calling or something and distrusting baby. It’s worth it. Only lasted about 6 months, then stopped working... but at that point baby didn’t need it anymore so I was okay with it.
