So good (better fresh)
Short story: My grandparents are from Italy and these beans are big there. When they moved to CA they bought a house on acerage to grow everything (and I mean everything) so I ate fresh fava beans along with all the other vegetables, fruits, grapes, tomatoes, beans, peas, etc., etc., that they grew. The way my nana made these beans with bacon bits, onion, olive oil, a hint of garlic, and cooked them until extra tender, omg, I couldn’t wait to get home from school to go to her house to get some. Not cookies, FAVA beans. Go figure. To this day, I never forgot the taste of Italy, the freshness of her cooking. Right out of the garden. I miss that.

A tasty lower-carb bean
I’m on a vegan diet temporarily for Orthodox Christian lent fast, and the problem I encounter with a vegan diet is the excess of carbohydrates. Eating an excess of carbs has a negative impact on my wellness. I compared fava beans to other beans such as turtle beans and garbanzos, to find fava beans have a higher protein content and significantly less net carbs. They don’t give me that sluggish bloated horrible feeling of too many carbs. In addition I find them more flavorful than most other beans. I guess some fava beans have the skins removed but these do not. All beans have a skin but fava beans seem to have a thicker skin. To me it’s not a problem. The skins are a little chewy, the texture is interesting, not crunchy or papery. I like that the can has 2 servings, not 2.5, as it's easier to control the serving size and macros that way. I make something like ful with it, flavoring it with parsley, lemon juice, and garlic, but I make a keto flatbread out of coconut flour and psyllium husk to go with it. Then I add half an avocado over the top, which is not likely authentic to the dish but I need the fat when I’m doing the vegan thing. (It’s also delicious with an egg over medium.) Really, ful is such a tasty and energizing breakfast, I love to eat it. I have ordered the box of six cans twice. All my cans have been in excellent shape.

caveat emptor
I am not allowed to explain why, but I threw every can from my order away. What started as a concern for my health has evolved into a concern about the coercive relationship between the vender, the mediary and the customers.

Good BUT was looking for Super l;arge FAVA, This is not it/
The taste for a fava there- Great. The bean in these can are small. Was looking for Suoer size 3/4 - 1 inch bean. This is not it.

Beans tasty, but cans nearly always 100% hugely DENTED🙁!!
These imported Lebanese fava beans, while tasting good, however, consistently come with heavily dented, sub-par cans, which customers consistently complain about. Surely these could be grown and processed efficiently and properly in California, where nearly anything can be grown??? Can’t imagine why not?!! What’s the story-behind-the-story here?? Shall be looking in the future for some “Made in USA” version of this product—that’s for sure!—with reasonably dependable shipping & packaging going on.
