## Description

A sleek and classic EDC knife, the Kershaw Cryo has a 2.75” stainless steel drop point blade durable enough for daily demands. Designed in collaboration with custom knifemaker Rick Hinderer, this blade blends craftsmanship with usability. Drop point blade design is coated with a carbo-nitride finish to enhance strength and corrosion resistance, so you can use this blade for years to come. Made with safety in mind, the assisted opening allows for quick opening and features a liner lock that holds the blade in place while deployed. With multiple carry options, the pocketclip supports left- or right-handed use in either tip-up or tip-down position. For those looking for a timeless tool, the Kershaw Cryo is an ideal choice for everyday tasks – whether it’s on the job, hiking, hunting or camping.

Review: High Quality Pocket Knife - Kershaw's Cryo pocket knife is the perfect size for an everyday carry knife. I love the speed assisted opening feature. This the first pocket knife that I have owned that had assisted opening. The blade snaps out and locks safely and securely. The 2.75-inch blade is perfect for packages, rope, cord and other typical daily uses. It should serve me well. The blade is razor sharp out of the box. The grip is comfortable, and the speed assist lever serves as an extra safety feature to keep your index finger from sliding forward onto the blade. I can get all four fingers on the grip if I choose to.
Review: Great for the money! - Great little EDC for the money. I don't know why many people compare this to a tenacious though. I feel that other than the money this knife is in a completely different size category. If anything a better comparison is the Spyderco Persistence. Not looking at price, this knife is also comparable to a delica or mini griptilian size. I have all three of these knives and I have to say this holds it's own against the delica and mini grip. Other than the blade steel, build quality is just as good as both of them. The frame lock is stout and for a knife this size if you can break the lock...you aren't using a knife for what it was designed to do. I will say that the mini griptilian axis lock is still my favorite. It's quick, super smooth, and easy to open as well as close. I would place this in second behind an axis lock, followed by a liner, and last a back lock. I have never been a fan of back locks. By design they are always a little more difficult to open due to the pressure they place on the tang. Also the location of the lock requires more fumbling motions of the hand to close it. As for ergonomics I have to say the delica comes in first. The handle is just a tad bit longer and in the hand feels so much better than a mini grip, but this doesn't fall to far behind the delica and would give the Cryo second place. As for weight, it's a "heavy" knife. I personally am not phased by weight unless I am wearing slacks. In jeans, I sometimes carry my Benchmade Adamas 275...now that is a heavy knife. In slacks this knife will weigh you down and pull your pants. If I am wearing slacks I would recommend a sub 2 ounce knife. Blade steel is your run of the mill 8CR13MOV...it's "good" Chinese steel. On a knife this size I don't see the benefit of higher quality steels to be honest. A knife this size isn't going to see heavy and hard use from me. This is a small everyday knife that I might use once in a blue moon. If I know I am going to be somewhere where I want a harder use bigger knife I will take something with better steel. 8CR13MOV will take a razor sharp edge. First thing I do with all my knives is reprofile, sharpen, and strop. It has a nice mirrored edge and will push cut paper. As soon as I start noticing the edge dulling, a quick strop gets it back to a razor edge. My only grip about this knife is that the tang on the blade is not drilled for the ball detent. What this means is that the blade will not stay closed if you remove the torsion bar for the assisted opening. Unless you have a drill press and want to drill your blade...you are stuck with an assisted opening knife. I have never been a fan of assisted opening but I am happy that the sound of this opening is not too authoritative. I carry this knife as an EDC, the last thing I want is to flip this open with a loud clank and draw any more attention from sheeple than I need to. Also keep in mind that the torsion bars on all Kershaw assisted opening knives will eventually break. Kershaw's customer service is great and will send you replacement torsions bars and screws no questions asked. I have broken the torsion bar on my blur twice already. I took it out completely in my blur, which unlike the Cryo is luckily drilled for the detent. All in all for the money it is a great little knife that holds it's own against knives much more expensive than it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: where is this knife made?**
A: These knives are made in China. Is still a great knife. I have the Cryo and the Cryo 2. Feels great in your hand. Feels like a knife should feel.

**Q: can this knife be easily closed with one hand?**
A: After playing around with the knife more and more it does get easier to close with one hand . I do recamend this knife, it is amazing!

**Q: does it have any sort of locking mechanism for safety?**
A: There is no additional safety mechanism beyond the frame lock itself. I have never had an issue with the blade unlocking even inadvertently however, even under high pressure. The locking arm extends further behind the blade than many of my other folders and is an extremely safe design.

**Q: is this knife stamped china ?**
A: Absolutely.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My New EDC Knife
*by J***N on July 10, 2016*

I looked at this knife for a while before actually purchasing. I was carrying a larger folder knife and every now and then if I had to carry other things around in my pockets it would get in the way. I saw the other reviews on this knife and made note of it's smaller size, but it took me a while to actually purchase. I am glad I did purchase this knife. Build quality is great, the finish is flaw free, and every bolt and screw is tight. The blade also came very sharp and has held up for a few weeks now without needing to be resharpened. SpeedSafe assisted opening took only a few openings to get the hang of opening quickly. I would have to say it is safe to open the knife this way. Fingers have to be out of the way or the knife cannot open. It's also on the opposite side of the handle from the blade which would make it very difficult to slip and have the fingers go in the way of the blade, probably not impossible, but much more difficult than most other knives I have owned or handled. The way the blade locks into place when opened is very strong. There is a part of the frame that, when the blade is up, drops down underneath the blade to keep it from closing. Myself and a few others from work spent some time messing with this and trying to get it to fail, but none of us could. It feels safer than the knives that have the lock on the back of the handle that acts like a button press. It's very possible to, when trying to pry something, grip the knife in a way that depresses that lever. It seems very difficult to do that with this knife's frame lock. When gripping, the hand is wrapped around the frame which would make it very difficult to spread the frame open and allow the lock to disengage. The color is nice and not too shiny. Light doesn't create a glare on it when it's in my pocket. Overall this a very nice knife. I would say it's best use is an every day carry knife. It's the right size and weight to clip in to the pocket. I wear it all day and it hasn't been in the way of me getting anything out of my pockets yet. Very pleased with the purchase.
