ishiness
Williams' poetry requires some bio, and Charles Tomlinson's introduction in this edition has proved helpful. also Wendell Berry has published a handsome critique in "William Carlos Williams of Rutherford" that helps to mitigate some of the ishiness that may result from reading Williams without understanding the man. that beins said, Williams speaks well to the listeners of the finical new millenium with a mind for the migrant-flux consequences of the coming century -stressing the "thing" and the "American idiom" with attention to detail and irrepressible imagination "flung outward and up-disappearing suddenly" (from "Strains" in Al Que Quiere)

Superb
A superb selection of Williams' poetry in a handsome and durable small volume. The editor, Robert Pinsky, selected an appropriate spectrum of Williams' verse across his long career, including all his most famous poems. Reading and rereading these poems is always rewarding because of Williams' ability to capture arresting images, experiences, and states of mind. As with all anthologies, some choices may be arguable. I would like to see all of his great, late poem Asphodel included but Pinsky's choices make sense and reflect his sure knowledge of Williams' work. This book is a great addition to the worthy American Poets Project.

Another excellent volume from the American Poets Project
William Carlos Williams: Selected Poems (American Poets Project) As stated in another one of my reviews, every single Library of America volume I've ever purchased (including volumes from the American Poets Project) have been of the highest quality, superbly executed and just plain beautiful.Already possessing several volumes of William Carlos Williams work, I purchased this compact, delightful volume as a gift for my oldest son (who shares my appreciation for both great literature generally, and poetry specifically). Upon its arrival (delayed, once again, by amazon's ridiculously slow delivery) I was more than pleased, and felt proud to be presenting my son with such a first rate representation of W.C.W.'s work.

Enjoyable
William Carlos Williams is a wonderful poet who incorporates the mundane and interesting things happening around him in his poetry. One word will suffice: enjoyable.

they are still as good as they were when they were first written
I've been reading William Carlos Williams since the seventies. His poetry was ground breaking at the time of there release, and to me, they are still as good as they were when they were first written. His portrayals of every day people and pastoral scenes are still worth reading. His rhythms in his short poems are worth studying for any poet. I recommend reading his selected Poems.

Classic Piece of Work
I purchased this book for a class that I was taking on Modern and Contemporary poetry. Williams' writings are thought provoking and this compilation does an excellent job in highlighting some of his best work.

Nice quality.
The media could not be loaded. Binding is so tight, thats the only complaint i have. It's very uncomfortable to open. But binding and paper quality is perfect.William Carlos is one of my favourite poets. He picks up simple things in our life and reminds us that "In modern day people don't have time to stop by and smell a rose".Please buy his poetry and make yourself a favour.

Selected Poems by William Carlos Williams
This is an excellent collection of poetry and really highlights the talent of William Carlos Williams. The poem `This Is Just to Say' evokes the stolen pleasure of eating fresh plums. However, it is worth buying the book for the `Pictures from Brueghel' poems alone, because the paintings are brought to life with the images expressed in each stanza.Unfortunately, I can only award the book four stars because the cover is so flimsy and the paper quality is poor.
