Comprehensive review
First off, many of these reviews sound a bit fishy, as if they are `fake' reviews made by the manufacturer or whatever to sell the product. This is not, this is an actual user of the actual product and I have actually rated it 5 stars. I'll start by going over the features then list the pros and end with the cons and wrap up with a final impression. Features: All the advertised features above are present so I won't bother going over those. This is more for the `ins and outs' of it. The device itself has a `touch screen' like front bottom portion. All of the controls are there and don't show themselves unless your finger is about ¼ of an inch from the surface of the light. Once there they light up. There is a -, menu, select and + button listed horizontally across the bottom in that order. When you get near the device they light up with an intensity to match the clock face. The clock face has an intensity setting from 1-4, which will automatically adjust UP as the room becomes brighter. For example a contrast setting of 1 helps you get to sleep but doesn't help you see the clock face at, say, 2 in the afternoon, so the auto adjusting feature I consider that a bonus. The light itself has an intensity setting from 1-20. On the lower settings it is a very dim red glow similar to the red of a sunrise (or set) and as it increases it steadily goes to bright white. Not the white you'd expect from a light but the kind of white of a sunny day. Picture a piece of paper outside on a cloudless August day. You can also adjust the `wakeup time' which is the time between program start and the alarm. The default is 30 minutes so if you wake up at 6AM at 5:30 it will start at intensity 1 and `step up' in intensity until it hits your intensity setting and it spaces this `step up' out over the `wakeup time' that you select. It ranges from 20 minutes to 40. It also includes an audible alarm of 6 different types. 1 is the radio, the other 5 are various combinations ranging from light woods birds/forest sounds to nature sounds with light music overlaid. You can also adjust the volume. These sounds do not play until the alarm time is reached. In other words, it doesn't play during the `wakeup time' period. It also has a snooze function. Simply touching the face of the clock turns the sounds off for 9 minutes but leaves the light on and after the 9 minutes, the sounds start again. The light/clock includes 2 different alarms you can set as well as an FM radio (as alluded to previously). A final note is that it also includes a "dusk" function. By activating the dusk function by pressing the button on the side the exact opposite happens than what happens with the wakeup time. It starts bright and eventually fades to 1 then turns off. This very much simulates the evening. Pros: I noticed a huge change the very first morning I used it. Instead of the harsh bleating of an alarm clock your body first starts to notice the increased light then your consciousness notices the sounds and eventually you're awake. This is VERY similar to waking up while you're rustic camping, if you've ever done so. So much so that at first I thought I was back in my tent at Yellowstone. That is really the only way I can describe it. I also liked how the light changed from dim red to bright white as it got brighter. Lights I've had in the past do not do that, you just get a more intense version of the same color light. Cons: This light is NOT meant to treat SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) being that it only puts out 300 lux at 20 in. and light therapy requires at least 10,000 lux. That aside, it can be used in conjunction with a medical grade light box (such as the SAD Light Therapy Box - Alaska Northern Lights- North Star 10,000 ) as a comprehensive approach. That is what I have done and it seems to work well. You also may have problems using it if you're married and you each wake up at different times as it has a tendency to light up the entire room. As brought up by others, you can't completely turn off the clock face but the lowest setting is pretty darn dim anyway. Finally when you click the alarm off you have to immediately turn it back on again, just like with the old-school alarm clocks. Final thoughts: Overall I believe, considering the price and its effects, the purchase was a very good value. I have always struggled with the `up and at-em' routine and even went to the point of drinking energy drinks as soon as I woke up to no avail. Like I said, the very first day I used it I noticed a difference. Within 10 minutes of waking up I was wrestling with the dog. No joke. I have combined it with the use of a light box (see above for which type) and it has done wonders for my mood and energy level. The minor inconveniences I noted above are just that, minor, and I enjoy the features and ability to have a sunrise and sunset `on demand' as I work very long days and during the winter months I am usually up before the sun and down after the sun as the saying goes. The first week I set a `regular' alarm clock as a backup to click off 15 minutes after this one in case it didn't work and not once did I have to rely on it, nor have I had to use the snooze feature. Like I said, entirely different waking experience and if I had the $$ I would buy one for each of my family as a present this Christmas. Hopefully this review helped you sort things out with this model as to what exactly it does, it's pros and cons.

The Truama of Being Blasted Awake is Over!
I'm not a morning person and I love to sleep, so waking up and getting out of bed has always been a challenge for me. Plus I hate to wake up when it's still dark outside. It just feels cold, lonely and depressing. And when the alarm starts blasting it always feels as if I'm being jarred awake and jerked out of something pleasant and wonderful and I have hated that for 45 years, so when I saw something that could potentially make waking up less traumatic I was intrigued. I had to try it. I am happy to report and pleased to say that this light has changed how disconcerting and difficult waking up is. It has significantly reduced the trauma level that goes with being dynamited out of a wonderful and pleasant sleep. Dare I say, it is at times - amazingly enough - actually (gasp) PLEASANT to wake up! When I now wake up, it's light in my room, and because of the light I can set my iPhone alarm to half the volume I used to need. So no more waking up in the dark. No more being jerked from a pleasant sleep in a terribly unpleasant way. Now I seem to be close to the surface when my iPhone alarm goes off, and I drift upwards into wakefulness, rested and un-traumatized from the waking process. I actually find it pleasant to wake up and have the light shining in my bedroom. All in all, I will say that the trauma factor of waking up is now about a third or less of what it was before my new Wake-Up Light. I no longer dread the screaming morning alarm because now there isn't one. I no longer have to wake up in the dark. I have a much easier time waking up. If you need to reduce the volume level of your alarm due to family member considerations this may also be a good answer to that problem. People in other rooms can't hear a light, and if you need to use an alarm clock in conjunction with the light the volume can be significantly reduced while still being effective. I find the combination of a light alarm and a sound based alarm to be both effective and significantly more pleasant than a sound based alarm only. The light is relatively easy to set up, the documentation on how to do so is correct and easy to follow, and once you set the alarm once or twice the process on how to do it easily remembered. There is an alarm #1 which I use during the week and an alarm #2 which I use for the weekend. The clock face brightness can be dimmed so that it's not intrusive in the dark. In the dark I have to look directly at the clock to even notice that the clock is lit. The light that you wake up to can be varied in intensity, and the hue of the light changes also. The light begins to illuminate weakly about 30 minutes before the alarm time that you have set and increases in intensity over the next 30 minutes, so it very gently and unobtrusively begins the process of waking you up in plenty of time to have a gentle ramp-up to wakefulness. I have it set at the halfway point for final brightness, which in daylight doesn't seem bright at all, however at 5:00 AM it's bright enough without being overpowering, and the shade of the light is like a nice morning sunrise. The shape is a nice round-ish shape with a flat section on the bottom to hold it upright, and it leans slightly back to keep it from tipping over. It feels very solid. I would take care not to drop it, but if it were dropped on carpet or a heavy rug it would almost certainly survive I would think. I would not want to drop it on a harder surface though. The cord is long enough so that the electrical outlet doesn't need to be directly behind the nightstand. Mine is about 3 feet away approximately and the cord is long enough that it connects. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a more pleasant (or just less traumatic) way of waking up. Good luck, and happy sleeping!

A good way to wake up
I got this product to see if it could do what they aren't allowed to claim it does, help with sleep problems. It is not a cure-all but does have a noticeable effect that I think can play a part in helping. I have both insomnia and a non-24 hour sleep shifting, irritated by allergies :(. With this alarm clock, I notice that something in my brain is activated that isn't without it. It isn't enough to magically make me function on 4 hours of sleep, but it is a nice way to way up when I have gotten enough sleep and I think can be useful in combination with other things in helping with severe sleep issues and might be more helpful for people with less severe sleep issues. I was hopeful that the sunset simulation would help me get to sleep, but it doesn't have any direct effect. I still find it very pleasant and like it for that reason. I would personally find it more useful it it had 90 and 120 minute settings and I could quietly read for a while before it forces me to put down the book. I could at least read on full bright and set an alarm for when to start the sunset simulation; the alarms are easier to change time than most alarm clocks, but still is less convenient than it could be for me. I suspect most folks will find the provided settings to be fine. I tried positioning the clock two ways: 2-3 feet above me just past the foot of my bed and just above my head and a little behind. I just moved it to the second position a few days ago after two and a half weeks in the first position; so far it seems like both positions work similarly for everything. I like that it gives you a chance to change the alarm time when you set an alarm and that you can turn off the alarm sound or light per alarm if you want, making it possible to use in combination with wake up watches or cd alarm clocks or to help find the optimal combination for two people using it at different times. I find the alarm sounds to be much nicer than most alarm clock sounds. I dislike that the touch sensitivity for the snooze feature is very low and I end up tapping it several times to work (although this could be seen as a feature, needing to wake up that much more to have it stop chirping for a few minutes). The touch controls for the menu and time adjustment work perfectly, but you can't use them to snooze. Also, the brightness buttons are right next to the lamp off button and I occasionally bump them when turning off the light (which affects the initial brightness used for the sleep countdown feature). It doesn't really matter, it just happens to annoy me a little bit. The only major disadvantage is the price; with the colored light and leds I think they have a good design that will hopefully be rolled out more widely at a lower price. I think it is much closer to my ideal alarm clock than any other that I've tried. I once purchased a similarly expensive Zen Alarm Clock, based on the excellent idea of a similar gradual awakening, only with sound instead of light (in theory, with really nice sound). That alarm was so ridiculously low quality with obviously little or no testing that fifteen years later I'm still bitter over how much contempt they must have for their customers to charge so much money for such a poor quality product (even though they at least let me send it back for a refund). I mention this here for two reasons: one, this product is not like that. It is expensive, but there was obviously a lot of design work and refinement to the product. Secondly, I think that a really good gradual sound alarm that could play occasional soft sounds over hours to help you wake up gradually is the main addition that would make it even better. Still, the light side of things is good and it gives you the flexibility to work with other alarms that focus on the sound side.

Glitch with the preview feature, but otherwise - fantastic. Less sleep needed but more refreshed!
I am very frugal and don't care about fancy tech so I hemmed and hawed over this purchase for a while. I also did my research on sunrise clocks before going with the Philips, this one was very highly rated. One of the selling points for me was that it started with a natural red light that eased into orange then yellow, whereas other cheaper lamps just do a low yellow light before getting brighter. I actually have a sun lamp, tied to my Alexa, that turns on when my alarm goes off. But that's just no light to on immediately, no graduality, and it's not nearly as bright. It doesn't have anything near the effect/benefits this one did, so I think quality here matters. Initial set up isn't too complicated but it is a bit lengthy. You can set up two alarm "profiles" so you can set a weekend and weekday alarm profile. I'll also note - information is saved when unplugged, up to 8 hours. You can also use it just as a lamp when needed, which I like for reading/writing in bed. I was frustrated during set up because I set the natural sounds (as opposed to FM) as my wake up noise. When I would test the alarm (there's a 90sec preview feature) it would play FM static. I went back and checked my selections multiple times, even tried setting the noise as FM thinking they were reversed, nothing worked. I googled it to find a solution and apparently there were a lot of people with the same problem! Well, I went to bed and left the alarm set and set a back up alarm on my phone. Color me pleasantly surprised, but when the alarm went off it did in fact use the natural noises I had selected. Must just be a bug with the preview alarm feature. I also woke up immediately to the natural noises (bird song). Now, I am a relatively light sleeper, but I always use the harsh beeps on my alarms and often hit snooze and cycle through a couple before I'm willing to physically get up. I woke up to this alarm immediately and felt great. If you tap the top, it snoozes (light but no noise) for 10 minutes, you can press menu to stop the alarm noises without snoozing. Despite sleeping 7 1/2 hours as opposed to my preferred 9, I woke up feeling ready to go and my eyes didnt hurt the way they always do when I wake up. I am a frugal person but waking up every morning refreshed is worth the $115. I may actually be able to go back to sleeping just 8 hours. I also tried the sunset feature to fall asleep, I set it to just 10 minutes. Falling asleep for me is hit or miss, sometimes its quick sometimes I lie awake for hours. I fell asleep before the 10 minutes was up, but whether that's because of the sunset feature or because the night before had been NYE so I didn't get much sleep, I can't really say. But it doesnt hurt to have the option and I like that it's putting my body back to a more natural rhythm. Summary: The preview feature may not play the correct noise, but at least for me the regular alarm did correctly use the noise option I selected. I like that it starts with a natural red -> orange -> yellow light, as opposed to the cheap-o models that just used yellow light. Upon use- I woke up immediately to the alarm. I immediately felt awake, as opposed to super groggy and grumpy like I normally do. I had less sleep than I normally do but still felt more refreshed and awake than I usually do. Overall, I consider this a huge win and absolutely worth the $115.

Great for Dark Winter Mornings!!!
I purchased this because I'm not a morning person, and I live in a northern state where it's still pitch dark outside when I'm supposed to get up for work. So far, this alarm clock has been a godsend! I'll be honest, I was skeptical at first. Plus, let's face facts... this is a lot of money to spend on an "alarm clock." But I had such a hard time waking up in the morning in the winter, that I decided to take a chance and figured I'd send it back if I didn't like it. I'm throwing away the packaging this weekend. :) Here's some random thoughts and observations about the unit: * I love how the dimmest light settings are reddish. This more closely mimics real sunrise/sunset and helps promote proper circadian cycles. * I use the Dusk Simulation feature every night now. As I said, I'm not a morning person. Instead, I'm a night person and often get a "second wind" when I should be winding down for the night. Whenever I can climb into bed for the night, I put the dusk simulation feature on the lowest light setting (1) with a 30 minute countdown. It slowly fades to darkness over the 30 minutes, and it honestly does seem to help me fall asleep better. * In the middle of the night, if I need to wake up and do something, I turn on the light at the lowest setting (1) which doesn't wake me up as much, but is still plenty of light for digging through the nightstand drawer, or whatever. * I have the alarm set to start turning on the light 30 minutes before the alarm time. So if I need to get up at 06:30, the light will come on at 06:00 and slowly brighten. I've found that I've been waking up around 06:10 or 06:15 because of the light, but not fully awake. Very similar to slowly waking up when the sun rises in the summer. It's much less jaring on me than pitch darkness broken by a piercing alarm, followed by the snooze button. It feels much more natural and I don't get jolted awake in complete darkness feeling crabby anymore. * Ever feel too tired and wish you could tell the sun to shove it and go back down for awhile? You can do that with this alarm clock. A couple mornings, I was just too darn tired to want to wake up naturally, so you can turn off the light but not turn off the alarm. So let's say the light wakes me up around 06:10 and I don't feel hippy enough to wake up naturally, I want to tell the light to shove off, I just turn off the light and go back to sleep. The alarm sound still goes off at 06:30 as scheduled. * I like the "nature" alarm sounds and how they gradually increase in volume over the first 5-10 seconds. My wife was convinced those sounds would be too "pleasant" to actually wake us up, but they do. If you're the type that absolutely would sleep through loud birds chirping and flutes playing, you can choose to wake up to the radio instead. * I wish it had an AM radio. I live in the boondocks and only get 10 FM stations. Oh well, not a huge issue, just something I wish was different. * I love how the time display automatically brightens or dims with the room's ambient light. So you can actually set the clock display to the lowest brightness setting and it will be nice and dim while sleeping, yet you can still read the time during the middle of the day. * When we first unboxed the unit, my wife and I thought it looked like some kind of crazy Apple product. All weird and high-tech looking. I was worried it wouldn't fit in on our night stand. No worries though, once I got it in place, all we really see is the front of the unit, and it blends into our decor just fine. * It's not a substitute lamp. I mean, yes, you can use it as a lamp. But it's not really a lamp replacement. It doesn't brighten the whole room or area like a true lamp with shade will. If you have a lamp on your nightstand already, don't expect this to replace it. * Sometimes I put the Dusk Simulator on for 45 minutes, and I'll lay in bed and read a book on my Kindle Paperwhite, 6" High Resolution Display with Built-in Light, Wi-Fi . I'll have the Paperwhite's light set to 5 and the alarm clock's light set to either 2 or 1 on the 45 minute countdown, and read for 20-30 minutes to help unwind and get sleepy. It's awesome! * When you turn off the alarm in the morning, the light stays on. You have to push a second button to turn off the light. I actually like this feature a lot. Like I said, where I live, it's pitch dark outside when I wake up. Having the light on helps me not to just fall back asleep by accident, and it also helps for actually getting out of the bed and seeing where I'm going. :)

Sunset Simulation!
Originally purchased my Philips SmartSleep, years ago, in order to awaken with light and it does a great job of this. However, the true bonus turned out to be the pleasant efficacy of its sunset simulator go-to-sleep feature. Imagine a light that not only dims over time but also reddens as it dims, and goes through the sort of pinkish-orangish red reminiscent of beautiful sunsets, providing a pre-sleep ambience whose gradually diminishing intensity and simultaneously increasingly red hue does indeed physiologically prepare you to go to sleep. Another Philips SmartSleep plus is that it has intuitive integral controls, ideal for simply winding down without needing to use a screen and/or app in order to set it. While app-based products may offer more proverbial bells and whistles, they also inevitably lengthen the time required to get to sleep... sometimes even defeating the purpose via temptation for just one more text/email message, just one more social.media refresh, just one more news scroll-through, and so on, for however many minutes or hours. The only thing that could be better about the Philips SmartSleep would be if it had a touch-to-activitate nightlight mode, whereby touching anywhere (or, at least, a very large and centrally located button) would either provide a dim reddish light or turn it off. Although easy enough to turn on and off using small buttons while one is awake, this isn't necessarily ideal human factors engineering for the semi-awake, semi-coordinated. Finally, other than this potential improvement, the Philips SmartSleep is well-designed, effective, well-made, and well worth the nightstand real estate it elegantly occupies. While initially shopping, opted for this based on its features, design, and manufacturer -- a decision that has thus far resulted in several years of reliable usage. And, as mentioned, purchased to enable waking-to-light, and soon found that its *sunset* simulation sleep feature was just as pleasant, if not perhaps more so, than the sunrise simulation wake-up. Dividing its cost by the number of days in use, and considering the value of waking up to light, plus being able to add sunset simulation as a pre-sleep cue, Originally purchased my Philips SmartSleep, years ago, in order to awaken with light and it does a great job of this. Since it's used daily, this product's cost became rather negligible over time (price divided by number of days over however many years), and its reliability has proved positively priceless.

A love / hate relationship with a brilliant & confusing alarm clock
This is either my most favorite or my least favorite alarm clock. After 6 months of ownership, I'm still not sure which Let me explain. I'll start with the good. The main conceit of this product - of an alarm clock that uses a gradual and pleasant light to wake you up - is stellar. It works. I've hated alarm clocks for my entire life, but even I can say with a straight face that this is one of the good ones. I never feel jolted awake, and it's so incredibly refreshing to wake up to light instead of darkness. Probably my favorite feature isn't even alarm based: the sunset simulator, in which the light dims down instead of up when you go to bed is also wonderful. It's very pleasant and relaxing, and it's very comforting to fall asleep to There are hints of brilliance to the design. "Tap to Snooze" is a wonderful idea that works extremely well. You can program 2 alarm settings, but you can also temporarily override them (for example, waking up at 6:30am instead of your usual 6:00) without permanently changing the setting. Again: hints of brilliance. Unfortunately, that's where the hints end. Here's the bad... The word I'd use most is "confusing". It's not necessarily complicated or complex, but very little about it is intuitive. Programming the alarm is done via the front via little touchscreen buttons, and it's no more easy or hard as any other alarm clock. That's not where the problem is. The true culprit of bad design is actually operating the clock itself - toggling the alarm, light, sound, and sleep timer. All of these actions are performed via very small, identically-sized buttons along the rip of the alarm. You cannot see these buttons, so you need to rely on what info your fingertips relay back to you to figure out which one to push. But because they're all tiny and same-sized it makes this task completely impossible I cannot stress enough how confusing this is. I've used this thing daily for something like 150 days and I still am making mistakes constantly This is a device that you'll be using when you're tired or disoriented. Intuitiveness should have been a priority. Instead, I find it difficult to use even when I'm at my most awake. Then there are the steps you need to memorize just to use the darn thing. It's been 6 months and I *still* don't know the proper way to shut off an alarm. Here's what I mean: - If the alarm is actively going you can press the Light Toggle or the Sound Toggle buttons to turn it off. The Alarm toggle appears to disable the alarm entirely, meaning you need to press it again to turn it on for the next day - If the alarm is in snooze then things get weird. The Light Toggle with turn off the light, but leave it in snooze. The Sound Toggle with turn on the sound, leave on the light, but turns off the alarm. The Alarm Toggle with turn everything off, but this time it doesn't disable itself. Argh! It's confusing just to type this all out. - If you simply wait too long (~60min) the entire thing - light and sound - shut off. This is likely to prevent alarms from going off all day, but even if you're actively snoozing it it'll still just shut itself off after the 60min are up The entire thing is brilliant and useful enough to overcome its faults. But it's simply not a 5 star product. And is it worth the >$130 price it sometimes runs for? I can say with confidence that no, it's not. At that price point you need to demand a certain level of quality and user experience that this thing lacks. I love it. I hate it. It's complicated. It's an alarm clock. For me, it's the right one for my situation. You'll have to figure out if you can live with the faults.

Excellent way to wake up
This is the second Philips SmartSleep Light i've owned. My first lasted me a LONG time; and waking up to light is a game changer in regard to overall sleep quality. No loud noises; you can choose a birdsong or your favorite radio station to ease you awake; and this is an option under the Menu; in case the emerging 'Dawn' doesn't do the trick. I've never had to use anything more than the light source. Many of my friends don't believe that a light can wake you! But I say they don't know what they are missing. Once you understand the science behind Dawn Simulation you will understand why this is best for your sleep - wake cycles. Especially in the dark winter months; you can train your body to still believe it's spring! Magically. I like all the Menu options available; you choose when and how you want to wake but one of the really amazing features of using a Dawn Simulator is that you are also able to use it as a Sunset at night when you may want to read in bed to relax you into sleep. This is a unique and amazing feature; you set the timer for Sunset; and tuck yourself into bed - the light is brighter and very very gradually begins to fade into 'sunset' and dark. Your brain is easily and happily relaxing into sleep! I love this feature. The clock comes with a very easy to understand User Manual - and there are several Timers options you can use as well. The color quality of the Philips is excellent; soothing and bright IF you want it to be - you make the choices as to the amount of brightness you need or want. I'd HIGHLY recommend this product.

Excellent product
I'm really happy with this product. I found setting the clock and alarm quite intuitive. I like the feature of a 30-minute sunset, as it gives me time to get into bed and sort myself while still having light but I don't have to get up to switch my bedroom light off and turn my room into instant blackness. Love the peaceful descent into slumber. The light can get as bright as you want it - to me it simulates the sun. They say there are 3 colours to choose from but you can't choose. The light is more red and orange at low light and slowly becomes yellow as the light gets brighter. At first I was disappointed that there wen't any colour options but now I'm not sure I would use multiple options, as I would want to simulate natural light as much as possible. Some have commented there is no battery in case the power goes out. While this is true in a sense, I can say that when the power returns, the clock doesn't need to be reset - it keeps the time and alarms that were stored before it lost power. I'm not sure how long it keeps the settings before it needs to be reset. I unplugged it for an hour and everything was as before when I plugged it back in. So I'm happy with that. The radio is a decent quality. Not powerful but also not like listening to something in a tin can. Can also deliver a little bit of bass, so no complaints there. Very happy with this purchase.

Buen producto

Expensive, but I can't live without one.
Horribly expensive here in India. But cheaper than an air fare. I bought my original, glass, model (this one is plastic) in UK, but, after some years its buttons are failing. It is part of my wake-up life. Don't know how I could live without it. And, as I said, cheaper than an air fare. Is it worth it to YOU? At this price, probably not.

A Perfect Product
I was a little bit nervous about ordering this item because of the price but, in the end, I was glad I did. I'm not a morning person and I've woken up, every morning I've used this, with no problems at all. I use this as a radio, a light in the dark, and as an alarm clock. This is a great product and you get the quality you're paying for. Pros: Alarm clock works very well Sunrise alarm, and sounds can be used together or alone Lots of customisation Very bright at full power, but dimmable Good sound quality on the radio Looks great Cons: Rolls easily if you try to slide it Menu takes a little bit of getting used to No battery back up I had mixed feelings when I took it out of the box but I plugged it in and ran the test mode (If you hold the alarm button (1 or 2) it will give a 90 second demo of how your settings will be (this helps you to see the settings you used for the brightness and volume). I didn't know if the extra money was worth it for a few extra features and light colours. Now that I've been using it for a while, I know it was worth it. I love having 2 different preset alarms. I use one for work days and the other for any other time I need to get up. Some people find that they don't wake up at the time they set but that's not the case for me. I instantly wake up when the birds start singing (my audio alarm sound). I do always set my phone alarm in case there is a power outage or in case the alarm doesn't wake me for some reason (It's waken me up with only 3 hours and 5 hours of sleep though). I tend to set the light and volume buttons lower, and angle the light a little bit so that it won't wake my wife. Although that doesn't work, she would wake up to a regular alarm clock anyways. The sunset feature to help you fall asleep is great! I set it to 10 minutes and I've only ever had one issue.... I've never seen it the whole way through! To be honest though, I do think it's great. The different shades represent the sunrise/sunset beautifully and sometimes I've set the sunset just because of how nice it looks. The radio has great sound, and since we don't have a traditional radio, we use it all the time. We get clear crisp sound, and get all the stations without any issues. Since there are no presets, it takes you a little bit of time to change the channel but this is primarily an alarm clock. Adding buttons for the radio feature would take away from the simplistic look of this light. It has a great and simple look to it. The rubber feet on the bottom provide great grip to keep the alarm clock still. The rubber feet are also an issue though. If you're trying to slide it over with one hand the feet will grip and the alarm clock will want to roll. This is not a normal issue but something to keep in mind if you're holding something in one hand and try to slide it. All in all, this was a great buy and well worth the price (even though it is expensive for an alarm clock). Even knowing that there are cheaper and older models out there, I would buy this one again in a heartbeat! If you're on the fence about buying this give it a chance! You won't regret this purchase.
