I did purchase the risers and with time I can remove forms next step into biking. I am over 65 and with medical issues but these bars allow relief from hand numbness and fatigue. UPDATE: Ok l have been cycling for about 2 years now, l have ridden over 6k and l don't know why l waited so long to purchase the aero bars!! Yes the may not be the lightest out there as some riders have stated. But, they are stiff in the right places and really STOP the numbness from my hands and my forearms, lhave taken one of the risers off and making me more Aero and increasing my speed as l am more comfortable with them.
