Works for me and I am not quite 58 in. It is not easy to use, though. Helps some.

What is the difference between the adult size and the kid size?

This may be wrong but I felt adult size about same but balloon tougher to inflate.

Are the balloons made of latex?

Yes. My doctor recommended I purchase knowing full well I have a latex allergy - I was bummed.
