What is the gap testing the tool

The gap test indicator light shows a proper calibration of tool; when it crimps each fitting the light indicates a good crimp. I've been pleased with this tool and ease of operation. I've used it alot since I purchased it. all crimping tools should have a way to monitor a proper crimp. Some have a separate Go-no-Go gage. This tool shows proper crimp with the indicator light.

How can you determine which end of calibration tool to use for which size ring

I believe the instructions tell you what end to use.

Will this work with all pex pinch rings or a specific style?

This appears to work with the 1/2", 3/4" and 1" rings I used, the style with the little 'ear' on the side( pinch clamps). This is NOT for the rings that are smooth, what they call a 'crimp ring'.
