Decent GPU when on sale. Otherwise go with a RTX 30 Series GPU
UPDATE Date Written: 11/18/2022 Rating: 5/5 ★Price★ With the GPU often going on sale for $280, I'd have to argue now that it's a great deal for budget build PCs. I gave this thought, reconsidering GPU prices of the RTX 3060, 3070, both their variants. I've also been watching market prices closely for the past year. EVGA sales are more frequent so you're not going to be waiting long if they're not on sale. The RTX 3060 12GB is normally about $450, and it isn't that much faster than the RTX 2060. The RTX 2060 6GB is about $350 but goes on sale often. Would you pay $75-100 extra for 10% performance increase and 6gb of additional ram? Personally, I don't see it as a problem unless I wanted to play at 1440p, 2k, 4k resolutions. ★Performance★ This is an important note to anyone getting this GPU. Do not use fan coolers. Get liquid cooling, a bigger PC case with fans, and you'll be surprised at how cool this GPU runs. I've been able to max out my settings all because I kept my CPU from heating up my PC. Without a doubt, if you had a small PC case using a stock cooler, you'd experience what I did in my last review. It made a huge difference in performance. Because there's no thermal throttling, I've been able to play every game with max settings at 60FPS at 1080p. Highest quality DXR does somewhat take a hit, mostly due to the lack of VRAM. Easily, this is a worthwhile GPU for budget PCs. I should note that you shouldn't try to overclock this card as there's no voltage control. ★Problems★ This section isn't to remark on issues, but to explain how you should have your PC case optimally set up when using higher-end GPUs. If you're still using a fan cooler, I recommend what I suggested above and purchase a bigger PC case with fans along with liquid cooling. It will go a long way, not just for your GPU, but for every component in your PC. It will drop all temps dramatically, keeping it all alive longer. I wouldn't be surprised if fan coolers were the primary cause of suddenly dead GPUs. The RTX 2060 6GB rarely hits temps of 50-60. Will be updating review to show benchmarks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL Date Written: 7/13/2022 Rating: 2/5 ★Price★ At the time of purchase, RTX GPUs were overpriced, often $100s over MSRP. I was able to get mine for $280 brand new which seemed like a good deal, especially when the RTX 3050 performs worse than the RTX 2060. Now that GPU prices are closing in on their MSRPs, buying the RTX 2060 KO Ultra was more of a loss. I can confidently say that the RTX 20 Series is no longer worth the money, and you should be looking into a RTX 30 Series instead. I won't even recommend getting the RTX 2060 12GB as you can find the RTX 3060 OC 12gb that costs a little more, if not nearly the same price. Of course, avoid the RTX 3050 as well. ★Performance★ If you're buying this GPU because it uses a binned RTX 2070/2080 die, you should know that it doesn't offer better in-game performance than its predecessor. With DLSS/FidelityFX enabled, it runs at 60fps 1080p with raytracing settings on high. However, there is an obvious loss of quality when upscaling 720p and below to 1080p. When upscaling is disabled, it runs at 30-45fps on average. For that, I can't recommend this as an "entry-level DXR capable GPU". For non-DXR gaming, it can easily achieve 60fps at 1080p/1440p resolution. While it's a fair and considerable upgrade from a GTX, I would much rather have a RTX that can handle raytracing without upscaling. ★Problems★ Because of its two-slot design, the heatsink doesn't disperse as much heat as its three-slot predecessor, and so it heats up more. Without a doubt, it would struggle to stay cool in PC cases with poor airflow or were too small. The GPU's fan curve seems to max at 85%, so you will need EVGA Precision or MSI Afterburner to allow 100% fan speed. As a warning, it will get MUCH louder. The GPU's power limit is clamped, so you can't safely overclock the GPU very much, if at all. The RTX 2060 Founders Edition can be overclocked to perform better than the KO Ultra. Not that I'm recommending the Founders Edition variant, I still believe you should look for a RTX 30 series GPU, except the RTX 3050.

Seems to work fine, very good for the money
This wasn't a dramatic upgrade, but I can tell the difference. I'm a bit of a gamer (FFXIV currently) and in game, things render more quickly and it all looks, well more vibrant. My monitor isn't capable of what the card can do so I'm not commenting much on high end performance since I can't currently utilize this to it's potential. This monitor is fantastic for someone that deals with images and video as the color is suburb but does not have top "gamer" speed capabilities. That said, I find the action to have improved over my 1650. My system is a i5 which delivers much better performance than expected since I disable and limit background programs and tasks severely. It doesn't have much that starts and runs when I start it up. Only the bare necessities. At $200 this card was a very good deal, and my little system is humming away nicely. But. Be sure you have the power supply cable you need that is made for your power supply brand. This one is only a year old and came with around a dozen different cables, all except this 8 prong PCIe the card needs. I got one and it didn't work. Because it was made for an EVGA power supply and would not work properly with a Corsair power supply. So I had to wait for an additional couple of days for the right one to arrive. So if it won't plug up and you need an additional cord, be sure it is the right one. The right one should slide into its connections easily once lined up. So far that's the only headache it caused. Doesn't run loud or seem to get hot, but again I don't try for top performance, as I don't feel any need for it. I don't play the most graphic intensive games and there are plenty out there. "Gamer" often implies one that plays games at 1600 FPS and need a 1080 Hz display at minimum. I don't play those. But overall graphics and video are very good, smoother and more vibrant than with the 1650. Things render much faster and nicer.

good and solid rtx card
Little late writing the review of this product. That being said, I've literally thrown everything at this card, including multiple kitchen sinks, and it stands worthy. very worthy. 3.860x1080 resolution gaming on ultra settings of red dead redemption check 1080p max settings in every game, no problems no sweat check reshaded rtgi, mxao, into ultra settings on every game check can it handle rtgi/ssr/mxao reshade in skyrim special edition under vulkan with 4k lods and 4k textures/4k diffuse on everything in game, and still have 35 fps with 100gb in mods. check rdr2 in vulkan with rtgi/mxao/ssr/hdr in 1080p of rdr2, check marvel avengers in vulkan, reshaded, make settings, 1080p. check new vegas in vulkan with rtgi/mxao/ssr, with 4k lod, 2k occlusion maps and 4k textures/diffuse with 40 fps. check do I run everything in vulkan, with reshade, rtgi, max mxao, ssr, smaa/fxaa, reveil and maintain 40. yes (only 2 games Ive found that dont do depth buffer in vulkan is bioshock infinite and in power armor of fallout 4). even fallout 3 runs vulkan great. metro exodus, doom eternal, gta v. check serious sam 4. oh yes, without reshade it still pulls 140 fps in nightmare settings on doom eternal horizon zero dawn with reshade, yes. perfect assassins creed odyssey. perfect I was a little leery on spending so much on a graphics card. but within the 1st day or so of gaming that feeling has been wiped away. it's a very quiet card, it handles very stressful gaming under full load and doesnt give in to heat at all ive never found a reason to overclock it, because it's not really needed. the only con is that it does not come with the separate power connector to the psu. I actually didnt get to use the card for the 1st week because I had to get a connector through the mail, which led to some frustration. that being said, it was worth the wait. another con is not many games actually support rtx hardware ray tracing, at least that I have, but reshade and pascal glitcher make up for that). ghost runner and metro exodus how ever are fabulous looking. sure, it's not a 2080, or even a 30 series card, but it still does a super job for gaming excellent upgrade from my nvidia 960, or even over the series 10 nvidia cards

Great now, better when the fan issue gets fixed.
(This is for the EVGA 2060 KO Ultra Gaming) It is a good card so far, but with the following issue that I am waiting on a response from EVGA to finalize my review. This is the exact message I sent to Tech Support on evga.com: "The card in question is my 2nd one. I replaced the 1st through Amazon's free return program due to an issue with fan revving. Turns out this 2nd one is the same and the issue was not defective hardware. The issue is this: On the default fan curve, at idle, the fans kick on at 39 C. They are not just on, but they rev from 0% to maybe 40%, back and forth, second after second, until it drops down to 35 C. The revving is very loud. It turns off at 35 C then slowly gets back up to 39 C and starts again. If I adjust the fan curve manually to not come on until a set temp (41 C for example), it has the same issue of revving, but it does not stop and just jumps back and forth from 40 C to 41 C, back and forth, revving each time. If i set the fans to any speed below 36% to make the fans not kick on from 0%, it will not hold that %, it will jump from 0% to the <36% with the same revving. The way I have fixed this for now is to have the fans never lower then 36%. I do not want that to be permanent as I want the fans to be off below 45 C to keep the computer quiet when doing anything not graphics card related. (for reference, my small case has the card sitting at 41-42 C at idle.) The best fix I can think of for this is to be able to have a more detailed fan curve. One where I can tell the fans to turn on at 36% at 46 C, stay on until 35 C (without revving), then go off, and stay off, until it gets back up to 46 C. Currently that type of fan control is not available with X1 or any software I can find. I guess there is also the issue where any speed below 36% will not hold steady, but I have a feeling that is "meant to be" that way and can't be changed. I can work around that. Is there currently anything in the works for the 2060 KO's bios or drivers, or even just for the EVGA Precision X1 fan control software to better fine tune the fan control in that way? Or another possible way to look at this: Is it better for the life of the card and fans for the fans to stay on 36% constantly, or for the fans to be on for a while, then off for a while, and so on (as in the way I want to be able to set them)?" (2/16/2020) EDIT: EVGA Reply "Hi Brandon, Sorry you are running into this issue. Keeping the fans at 36% is not bad for the life of the card. Currently with the 2060 KO being new, there may a future Driver update to fix the issue. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. Regards, EVGA" Not the most problem solving reply. Oh well, I'll just keep the fans at 36% minimum until a possible future update with better fan control. It is a great card at it's price point otherwise.

Performance and Value
I really like this graphics adapter. Deciding which card to get was a multi-day challenge. I was a diehard ATI fan for decades but decided to try NVidia this time. I'm not disappointed. My old AMD HD Radeon wasn't cutting it with 1080p conversions so I got this so I wouldn't burn out my 2nd Gen Intel CPU. My machine now runs conversions with no CPU load. I decided to try it on all of my old games (hl, hl2, counter-strike, even quake/quakeII) with the highest absolute max settings and get exceptionally high framerates. Even WoW runs at over 60fps. I can't hear the GPU cooler over my chassis fans. My old card sounded like a hair dryer. Even though I expect the price to fall further, this was still an excellent buy at $230. The card has generous GDDR6, decent clock speed, plenty of CUDA cores, (and Ray Tracing) for that price. And I compared them ALL. To be honest, the next-day shipping option tipped the scales a bit. But I traded that off for aesthetics. Although it is extremely well-built and looks good, the card isn't a showpiece with disco lights. The back of the card shows circuitry instead of a finished coverplate. On the plus side, better cooling.

Value for Perforance can't be beat!
Upgraded from an OEM Rx580 and the difference is phenomenal. I couldn't reliably game at any settings under 1440p resolution so I bought this bad boy and paired it with a Ryzen 7 1700 processor, 32gb of ram and an NVME drive. Now I can game at 1440p resolutions with all settings maxed out and the frame rates almost always stay above 60fps. Playing Witcher 3 never looked so good, or operated smoothly. The 2060 is by far the best bang for your buck. This particular EVGA SC Ultra is overclocked right out of the box but has room to overclock more. With it's current over clock of 1755 it is performing about 1-2 fps better across the board than a standard GTX 1080. Considering the cost for a GTX 1080 currently the savings are huge! Your saving at least 150-300 bucks depending on the brand. Just buy one already. Update: It's been quite a few weeks since I bought and installed the SC Ultra duel fan RTX 2060 and it has performed solidly with no sign of overheating, coil whine, artifacts, crashes, or driver issues. I have played some of the most graphically intense games such as The Division 2, Witcher 3, and BFV at 2k with max graphics settings and never a hiccup. EVGA has built this particular card with grit. I've owned several Nvidia cards but EVGA always seems to impress.

This is just simply THE brand to get for gaming cards!
If you're wondering what different brands offer, here's a guideline that applies to current GTX 10, GTX 16 and RTX 20 line of cards: PNY & Zotac: Cheaper build materials, underpowered, up to 20% lower performing cards than reference, more noisy, smaller cards tend to overheat. MSI: Good quality build, smaller cards with smaller fans tend to overheat, good performance. ASUS: More expensive, good quality build, exceeds performance, lower noise levels and temperatures compared to other cards. EVGA: Better price than ASUS, but near to same build quality and performance, exceeding MSI's performance, lower temperatures, higher clock rates. EVGA cards are generally identical priced to PNY or Zotac; but offer superior performance, customer service (in USA), and longevity. EVGA generally is a 10-15% better bargain than most other cards. for 24/7 usage, choose between the more expensive ASUS, EVGA, or the slightly less performing MSI, and not bother with PNY or Zotac. EDIT: For GT 16xx cards with below 75W power consumption, you're ok with a single fan design. For cards using more than 100W (like GT 1660 Ti, RTX 2060 or up; you will need a dual fan design) For cards using more than 145W (Like RTX 2080 or up) you'll need a triple fan design. RTX 2060 with triple slot single fan cooler, are cooling very bad, and aren't recommended. Same with dual fan 2080 designs.

Necessary upgrade for ancient hardware
Used to replace an even older nVidia 9800 GPU that is no longer supported by nVidia for the latest Linux kernels. No issues with Athlon quad CPU under Mint MATE 22.2.

Small compact size that will not fit in most pc cases.
AWESOME CARD... very fast, great price, vivid colours, small compact size, it is the width of three cards with a huge heat sink, instead of a very long card with three fans that will not fit in most pc cases. I bought this mainly for use with VR and it's EPIC!!! I Recommend this card to everyone.
