Bought the 2005 Adventure Pack Collection, the best way to own the OGs.
So, this is a review for the (what I like to call) "2005 Adventure Pack Collection", which contains the original Jurassic Park films.Although I did like Jurassic World, I am ultimately not a fan of the Chris Prat/Bryce Dallas Howard trilogy. Even with the reuniting of old characters along with the new ones in Dominion, they just failed to do anything truly new.In terms of the product I bought, this is such a great design that it outdoes anything else they have released as a Complete Collection later on. The way how you open the case like as if you are entering the large doors of Jurassic Park is a special feeling all on its own. Even the pictures they use to represent side that contains a disc just screams creativity that has long been since lost. I highly recommend buying this version if you can.In terms of the films, here's a quick review of each one:"Jurassic Park" - One of Steven Spielberg's best! And the best one out of the entire series. I remember watching it as a kid and knowing I was witnessing something special. Later got the chance to see it in theaters for the first time."The Lost World: Jurassic Park" - At the time of watching it, I wasn't a huge fan. But when compared to later films, it's definitely far better. While the characters aren't that great, what makes it entertaining are the stuff they do with the dinosaurs. Plus, that San Deigo scene was entertaining as well."Jurassic Park 3" - Definitely the worst of the OG trilogy, but still far better than Fallen Kingdom and Dominion. By this point, it was clear that there was no real plan for this one. But from time to time, you do get moments that gives you the Jurassic Park feeling. And that's my thoughts on the OG Jurassic Park trilogy. As relics of the times they were made in, they hold a special place in my heart. If you are interested in owning the trilogy of the originals, the "2005 Adventure Pack" is the way to go.

Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy Blu-ray Review
Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy Blu-ray ReviewI absolutely fell in love with Jurassic Park the first time I saw it in 1993. It, along with Terminator 2: Judgement Day, are the two films that I think really changed movies and Hollywood in general. Jurassic Park may be the very definition of popcorn flick but it has an intriguing premise thanks to author Michael Critchon, a perfect cast, a director who knows how to balance awe with terror, and top notch visuals that still hold up well 18 years later. This is undoubtedly the best Jurassic Park has ever looked but it is showing some signs of age. That doesn't bother me in the least however, Jurassic Park was an early entry into the world of CGI and some shots don't hold up as well in 1080P resolution. Overall detail is leaps and bounds better than the DVD but there are some scenes that suffer from crushing blacks. There is also a noticeable amount of grain which is occasionally overpowering but I'd rather see too much grain than have it completely scrubbed away with excessive DNR. Jurassic Park holds the distinction of being the first film released in DTS and even after 18 years it still sounds great. Bass is nice and tight, the surround channels are used often and to great affect, and dialogue is always crystal clear even when the T-Rex and Raptors are causing havoc all over the park. The special features on Jurassic Park are also good. The headliners are the newly produced Return to Jurassic Park documentaries that are included on each disc. The first segments make up the bulk of the extras on disc one. Dawn of a New Era, Making Prehistory, The Next Step in Evolution run about an hour back to back to back and are really well done and feature interviews with much of the cast and crew and give a great look inside of the entire process that brought Jurassic Park to life. There are also some older extras including a Making of... documentary, assorted featurettes, and a SD trailer.Film: 4 out of 5 starsVideo: 3 out of 5 starsAudio: 4 out of 5 starsExtras: 4 out of 5 starsThe Lost WorldYear: 1997Rating: PG-13Runtime: 2 HR, 9 MINA phoned in sequel that is technically superior to its predecessor in almost every way except in plotting and heart. I hadn't seen The Lost World in a number of years and it's actually a better film than I remember giving it credit for but it's still far from a great film. The same year Spielberg directed Jurassic Park he also directed Schinder's List, similarly the same year he directed The Lost World he turned around and directed Amistad. In 1993 he directed two back-to-back classics (albeit completely different types of classics) and in 1997 Spielberg attempted to repeat that success and came up short. Not all the blame falls on Speilberg, Critchon's novel didn't do the film any favors. The Lost World tries to upstage Jurassic Park at every turn but something creatively was lost... and why does Jeff Goldblum have a black daughter? They couldn't find any other way to work a black guy or gal into the film?Even though Jurassic Park looked very good The Lost World's video transfer easily beats its predecessor. Black levels are superb, the level of detail is good, and while there's a layer of grain present it never comes close to being overpowering. The audio is even better than the video and if I had to sum it up in one word it would be "Spectacular!" The dialogue is always crystal clear, all seven channels come alive with a flurry of activity, and your subwoofer will get a wonder workout because the bass is intense.Extras on The Lost World fall short of what was included with Jurassic Park. Two documentaries are included; Finding the Lost World and Something Survived are decent but it's a bit of a circle jerk with lots of people saying how great the film is but never mentioning some of the issues that hinder The Lost World. The rest of the special features are pretty forgettable with some "vintage" featurettes, some semi-interesting deleted scenes, and a poor looking standard definition trailer.Film: 2 out of 5 starsVideo: 4 out of 5 starsAudio: 5 out of 5 starsExtras: 3 out of 5 starsJurassic Park IIIYear: 2001Rating: PG-13Runtime: 1 HR, 32 MINThere are movies I hate and then THERE ARE MOVIES I HATE. Jurassic Park III definitely falls in latter category. For a movie that was filmed almost 10 years after the original film some of the effects looks downright terrible. Pay close attention to the dinosaur attack when the plane is stuck in the tree, ask yourself "If Spielberg directed this would it look this bad?" It's a lazily written film where somehow another kid that's wise beyond their years end up on dinosaur island. JP3 is filled with tons of cliché action staples and clocks in at an embarrassingly short 92 minutes. The only saving grace of the entire film is Sam Neil but he's the sole cast member that I wasn't rooting for to die.Unlike the abyssal film the video and audio are amazing. I think only the most persnickety videophiles would be able to spot anything to complain about. JP3 features a reference quality soundmix; the surround channels are constantly busy even in the calmest scenes the ambient noises completely envelop you. You'll never have any problem understanding the stilted dialogue thanks to the well balanced front sound stage. Last but not least the bass is foundation shaking but never out of control. It's really too bad that the best looking and sounding disc also houses the worst film in the franchise.Jurassic Park III features the last installment of the newly produced documentaries, this one being plainly named The Third Adventure. Like The Lost World documentary there is very little discussion of this film's shortcomings and it's mostly clip after clip of cast and crew saying how great the film is ten years later... blow me. Also included are some featurettes first released on the initial DVD release, another SD trailer, and a good commentary track featuring the late, great Stan Winston and various members of the crew.Film: 1 out of 5 starsVideo: 5 out of 5 starsAudio: 5 out of 5 starsExtras: 2 out of 5 starsConclusionOverall Score: 4 out 5 starsIf Universal had released the original by itself I would not have purchased this set because of my general dislike for the sequels. Jurassic Park still remains a very effective action adventure, while The Lost World isn't quite as bad as I remember it being, but Jurassic Park III is just as miserable now as it was 10 years ago and I'm still waiting for my apology from all involved for how it turned out. For anyone that's worried about the presentation you can put your fears to rest because the Jurassic Park trilogy has never looked or sounded better. I think the special features could have been a little bit stronger but the newly produced documentary starts off extremely strong until petering out some in regard to the sequels. If you're a big Jurassic Park fan then I think overall you'll be very pleased with this set otherwise you might want to wait and see if Universal releases each film separately so you can pick and choose your poison. Either way, "Welcome back to Jurassic Park."

JURASSIC PARK: PALEONTOLOGICAL THRILLER!
Paleontological thriller. The set includes the first three original Jurassic Park films. The first is 'Jurassic Park', the second is 'The Lost World Jurassic Park' and the third is 'Jurassic Park III'. The first introduces the park and the mad cap entrepreneur behind it. The second sees a group of scientists explore the lost world it has become. The third sees a group of gullible tourists explore the park, unaware of its horror. The music by John Williams is memorable. The plots follow the story of Jurassic Park from its mad cap creation to it becoming a lost world of dinosaurs.

How far we've come since then
These films are great little romps through dino-world gone bad, and still look pretty good after all these years, but Blu-Ray does expose the fact that rendering dinosaurs these days has come on in leaps & bounds. My son is currently obsessed with dinosaurs, and watching the Beeb's Planet Dinosaur demonstrates the improvements in CGI since then, as well as all the new data the Palaeontologists have uncovered since then. I could do without John Hurt calling anything with fangs a "killer" every few seconds though. But I digress...Check in your brain at the lounge door, grab a brew and enjoy some classic scenes of peope running away screaming from the big bad dinosaur in the best quality you can (unless you have 3D). Why does that kid start waving the torch about in the first film though? I mean... why? The Spinosaurus in the 3rd film is my favourite, but Tea Leoni's screaming did get on my nerves after a while. You just know all the nasty people are going to get dismembered (and a few of the good guys too - very heroically of course), and I'd kind of forgotten Peter Stormaire's cameo in Lost World as an appetiser for a bunch of tiny Compsognathus? Compsognathii?. I can't believe I didn't even need to look that up... oh the things that parenthood teaches you!Good fun, and a good price. Having seen my son unfazed by the blood and guts of Planet Dinosaur, I'm wondering if he'd be ok watching this. Probably best to wait until he asks... cue the call from social services!

Great trilogy packed with exciting adventures for the whole family
Jurassic ParkTwo archaeologists are whisked away to a private island where they discover their tour guide has managed to find a scientific solution to bring dinosaurs back to life.1993 and Spielberg continued to knock out blockbusters and this dinosaur caper is a revolutionary mark on cinematic scale which paved the way for two sequels that never matched the uniqueness, the anticipation and the awe of this action adventure. Jurassic park contains those moments of brilliance, the ripples of water, the dinosaur in the rear view mirror and the raptors. This is a great family adventure, showcased at an actioner not too scary for young ones and not too shallow for the older viewer, a masterpiece that is endlessly watchable with a brilliant score and performances. The Lost WorldThe sequel to the phenomenal 1993 released broke box office records once more and with all the excitement and eagerness surrounding its release its no wonder it disappointed many, we all expect too much. However this has a validation to its failure. For one the charisma of Jeff Goldblum's Malcolm from the first film is lost in a sea of ordinary scripting and there is no humour to match the bored expressions. Using Vince Vaughn, and many other middle aged men fail to generate any form of excitement, even using two T-Rex's lost out with many in a 100% unrealistic trailer shakeup. Whilst there is mild consolation in the raptor field chase and a T-Rex in the real world there is no redemption to be salvaged as this constant usage of dinosaurs meant they were no longer exciting and fierce but more a mere formulaic style that adds little excitement and freshness to a series that needed it.Jurassic Park IIIThe final instalment is a redemption of the atrocious second outing, using a tense script and a knowledgeable selection of dinosaur attacks to generate that same feeling as the first, a blend of anticipation that wasn't scary but had you on the edge of your seat. Here we have many new dinosaurs a story of rescue and a tantalizing prospect of pterodactyls that justifies their reputation, in a big bird cage! The score is fixed, the lighting is edgier and the action scenes are fully revised thanks to Joe Johnston's clever weight of necessities. This is a fine way to end and although there are talks of a fourth we should all be grateful for a series that has been full of action and dinosaurs.8/10

The Past Era
Yes this one is for my collection, The story is fabulous and the acting is marvelous drawing you into the movie making you part of it, Nothing like anything else. One of the top movies for the year maybe just me, but when you collect you have got to find something different and this is it. The monsters do their jobs at a fast pace that will keep you on your toes, exciting and a whirl spin of a roller coaster ride of effects that will keep you intrigued with it all. Now it's not for the very young as it is so realistic that you won't move when you come into contact with the creatures. Dinosaurs and humans just don't mix. A fast paced action edge of the seat feeling so be prepared, No more as not to spoil it for you and its a great show. I rated this an A grade plus for full on entertainment that will keep you amused so what are you waiting for, gather up the popcorn, pull up the chair, put your feet up and relax to a magnificent night of thrills and spills watching something unusual and very spooky. Enjoy!

first two great third not as good
jurassic park 1&2 are decent movies but I have to say that 3 is a bit of a let down, the idea was good but badly carried out this had the oppertunaty to be quite good but I am sorry to say that I would have fed a lot of the cast to the dinosaurs especially William H Macy and Tea Leoni and their band of so called rescue team, some films suffer from way to much screaming and ever more increasing silly scenarios and jp3 is one of them, obviously a case of the studio not knowing when they had streched a story too far, all in all my wife and have enjoyed watching all 3 movies and no doubt will view jp1 & jp2 again not so sure about jp3 possibly one evening when we have nothing better to do, no doubt there will be viewers out there who will enjoy jp3 very much like those who enjoy the films cloverfield and monsters, both of which we found to be the biggest piles of manure ever shoveled out of a film studio, at the end of the day though its down to what one likes so sorry to those who enjoy these films I have not rated very highly.
