The other one is "newer" basically. Wont notice much a difference in quality. Its like the difference between a 2013 and 2014 model car. Few small upgrades but the car works the same

Well, I have two Amp connected with a Boss BV9650 and 2 ohms speakers I everything is running perfect, so I thinh you won't have problem, the only think I dislike about Sony is the easy the Cd slot get damage good luck

What gauge type should I use, 4 or 8?

I have the same amplifier and 8 gauge works perfect. 4 gauge should't make a difference since the power you are consuming is low.
