## Questions & Answers

**Q: what are the preferred rpm, feed rate, plunge rate so that i can configure my CAM software?**
A: I use trial and error on tapered BN bits as the geometry varies from the tip as you move up the bit. For 3d carving I will run a roughing pass first, then change to the TBN and start at about 2 IPS for both feed and plunge and move towards 3.5. I will start my rpms at 12k and go up or down. Whatever tip size, I generally use 10% stepover. As I run test passes on the wood type I am using I listen for any stress or chatter. As I finish the run and the bit stops spinning, I verify that it is not hot to the touch and finally view the test carve for results. Again, this is my process for any size TBN.

**Q: Is there a SpeTool database?**
A: Yes, there is just go to SpeTool website and you can download the database for Fusion 360, Vectric, and others there.

**Q: How many inches per minute do you run with this mill? my no load rpm available are 8,000-24,000 rpm. any suggestions appreciated**
A: I do 18000rpm in my cnc and find it leaves a nice cut on hard woods

**Q: What are the general speeds, spm, and depth for this bit for oak carving, for fine detail ? I am just starting out. Thanks for any info. jc**
A: I can't give any suggestions because I don't know what machine you have, spindle or router, horsepower nor it's rigidity.

I picked up the SpeTool Tapered Ball Nose Spiral Router Bit (1.0mm tip / 0.5mm radius) for detailed carving work, and it performed beautifully. Cut Quality & Precision: This bit is excellent for fine detail work. The small tip allows for very clean, controlled cuts, making it ideal for intricate designs. I used it to carve a detailed log cabin into wood, and the results were crisp with smooth transitions and minimal fuzzing. Control & Stability: The tapered design really helps with rigidity. Even at small diameters, the bit feels stable and predictable, which makes it much easier to work confidently on delicate features like grooves, corners, and texture lines. Finish & Durability: Edges stay sharp and leave a surprisingly clean finish for such a small bit. I didn’t notice any burning or chatter when using appropriate speeds and light passes. Value: For the price, the quality is excellent. It performs like a much more expensive precision carving bit and holds up well under careful use. Bottom Line: If you do CNC work or detailed hand-guided carving and need a reliable bit for fine detail, this one is a great choice. Perfect for architectural details, textures, and small-scale relief carving. Highly recommended.
