A fantastic book for anyone interested in Yoga Mudras for health and exercise.
As someone who has had a passion for numerous martial arts and exercise health of body, mind and spirit systems (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga, Zen and various energy healing systems) for more than 6 decades it is refreshing and joyful when you discover a book you really love. Even though I had been teaching and practicing various Yoga asana as part of my own class for many years, (Chair/Seated Tai Chi/Qigong/Yoga stretching for seniors and the physically challenged), I was not that familiar with the numerous Mudras. What a joy when I found this absolutely fantastic 224 page soft cover book (Mudras: Yoga in your hands: a simple technique to achieve lasting health, happiness, and inner peace by Gertrud Hirschi) on Amazon, which I immediately purchased. Even though the delivery service as always was very quick, I was in the process of reading a few other books before I began reading this one. I just finished reading this book and loved it. In fact, I have now included several of the Mudras in my own personal practice and in my class.I cannot express enough how interesting, educational and valuable this book is for anyone into Yoga or who is seeking a simple and effective way to use Yoga Mudras as part of your overall health and meditation practice. I loved this book so much that it is now an essential text in my personal research library. The clear explanations and illustrations make this a simple and easy text to learn the Mudras; however, like any skill, one must practice in order to benefit from the exercises. This excellent book is organized into three parts. Part one focuses on “exploring the Mudra concept.” It explains what Yoga Mudras are and its origin, and various other details on using Mudras for specific things. The second part is about “the Mudras” and using it for body, mind, and soul and also the Mudras of Hatha Yoga. The final part explains the “practical applications” of Yoga Mudras. There is also a very informative appendices section. If you are into Yoga this is a must book to have in your personal library collection, but even if you are just seeking to learn a simple and effective book on using “Hand Yoga” techniques this book is for you. I highly recommend this book.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Tai Chi/Qigong/Yoga for seniors and the physically challenged).

I'm happy with this purchase because the language is simple
There are so many books out there, and you can never tell from a few pages if it's the right selection for you. I'm happy with this purchase because the language is simple, but does not trivialise one's desire for true knowledge. There's lot's of cross referencing, and an index so you can skip all the preamble and go straight to your area of pain or concern. Mudras are my best self-help health discovery yet! I can do them while standing in line at the bank, on the treadmill, lying in bed and still get some relief from my complaint even if I don't have time for concentrated meditation, or am not in a place conducive to rest and meditation.

Excellent book!
The only problem I have with this book is that I can't decide which mudra to work with first!I have a neurological heart issue and using two mudras, in particular, from this book, have been invaluable for me. My heart palpitations will slow and steady within just a two minutes, and the one for low blood pressure is very balancing. I can feel my breathing open up more in my diaphragm when I use the one for low blood pressure. I have used some of the others in the book, too, and again....invaluable! This book has opened my interest in yoga, in general, and have begun some gentle chair yoga. I didn't realize just how healing and balancing yoga could be until finding this book.I have the kindle book, and had gotten the paperback from the library, which got me started. I have no problems, at all, with the kindle book. Some of the other reviewers were complaining about the kindle setup, but that must have been resolved. It is very good, now.

Excellent photos and explanations
I had a hard time putting this book down. For anyone obsessed with mantras, this is the book for you. I have recommended the prana mudra to all my patients on the first visit, and find that if I instruct them and have them perform the mudra before treatment their acupuncture session is more effective. Personal experience, however, not something I can prove. Excellent photos and explanations; while reading this I felt like I was truly given a gift, and not just reading something that someone wrote to make a quick buck.

Invaluable book
This book is written from a highly experiential view point, lots of practical information and low on theory. Hirschi guides one on a self discovery journey, not a doctrine filled coda. As a person who has severe limits on what I can do physically, using the hands works really well. Slowing down, being thankful and looking inward are all extra benefits. I love that most of what she shares is highly intuitive and is the fruit of her own deep search.

Wonderful Book
I love the layout as well as the information in this book. Starts out with discussing mudras and the authors personal experience. After that is the 'catalog' of mudras, with illustrations of the hand positions, description and a meditation suggestion. Love this book, it has already become a go-to item for me for various issues and ailments. I also incorporate mudras into my home Yoga practice.

Great for focus
This book is brilliant- it takes meditation to a whole new level - good if you have excessive mind chatter as it gives an additional focus. But also good if you're the type of person that likes to have a reason for meditation.

Excellent
I really like this book, I don't think it is just placebo but genuinely believe the techniques and practice of mudras work. I confess that I am, unfortunately, not disciplined enough with my practice however, the writing is engaging and informative, a book I will dip into when I can with the aim to one day maintain my practice more frequently.
