Aluminium corrodes too, but it creates micro-thin oxide film that protects it from any further corrosion. It has quite a bit of 'twang' to the movement as the top arms are basically unsupported unlike some other stands that have more struts, however I wanted a stand I could easily dis-assemble and this does the trick. The bottom is rock solid and the rubber grips on the top arms work ok.
