Are the stems grown immersed?

Yes. I would recommend planting towards the back of tank.Mine have grown to a height of six inches in the two months I have had them.

For those of you that planted them with the weight, did you remove the foam or leave it on?

There was no foam ,they were in a plastic sandwich bag, no roots,nothing wrapped around the bottom of them. They were slimy, two weeks late and the leaves just fell off when I took them out of the plastic bag.

So I ordered some of the aquatic plants and they are in the transit for almost 10 days now... would they still be alive?

Could be, will depend on temperatures. If nightly lows are below freezing there is no way. Mine took quite a while but arrived okay.
