Review: Just as good today - This use to be on channel 9 out of Windsor, Ontario when I was growing up in Detroit. At that time I didn't appreciate the stories as much as I liked the special effects and monsters. Now that I have grown (slightly) wiser, I find that these DVDs have shown me a great deal more. The relationships between the characters and how they interact with the unknown. There is a depth to this series that I don't think I noticed before, and this set of excellent DVDs has shown me what I missed before. As far as the purchase goes, I have no complaints. All the DVDs played with out any problems. If you get a set of these in the U.S., you will need a DVD player that can handle other regions. The good news desertcart can help with that to, and they are very affordable.

My fav from childhood
I was a Barbara Bain /Martin Landau fan as a young child with Mission Impossible. Loved this show as a young teenager. BB is my favorite! The special effects for the time (1974) are fantastic on a big screen tv. Had to buy an All Region DVD player but worth it. Only complaint....the episodes are not in order on the disks....you will have to download an episode guide IF you want to watch in order.

It looks great!
I got the set of 48 episodes on Blu-Ray for Christmas 2019 and I have to say they just looks spectacular, although I have not got through them all yet. The colors are so vibrant and the music sounds big! It's great to be able to see everything so clearly. Space: 1999 will never look better. I would definitely suggest buying this set if you like the show however the set is region B, so most U.S. players will not be able to play them. However, my MCE Blu-Ray player/burner for my Mac apparently ignores my region code because it will play them. Woooh hooo!!! I was extremely happy and surprised about that!

Imprint version is region free, "Episode Order" fiasco, and overpriced?
TLDR: Episode order is based on the production codes for each episode, Imprint is region free(I'm using region A player), and 2,000 copy limited edition widely available as of this writing, initially set for $180USD. Copy seems to be all the good stuff from all releases of the blu-ray version packed into one. The MSRP was originally set to around $180 USD. It hurts considering I ordered the Shout! Factory version just a couple of months ago, which was also a little pricey. There doesn't seem to be a high demand for this 2,000 copy limited edition as of this writing. Kudos to Imprint's and Youtube's marketing strategies for making me rush to buy this. The box and packaging contents are indeed well crafted. And the first few pages of the book included is a good read. Although that's all I've read, I've heard there's very detailed information about the production of this show. The promotional content(i.e.: Youtube) explicitly state that the Imprint version is region free, so no need to worry about relying on Amazon's currently listing info. And of course mine is too as my drive is for region A. The episode order is a strange one, but by doing a quick google/wiki search you'll understand why. Plus the first couple of pages of the book explains that during those times, from my understanding, TV show episodes were designed to have no order when they were only shown on affiliated/subsidiary/sister stations and not fully supported by one of the three major TV networks. The U.K./Australia and the US showed the pilot episode first, and then both of them went their own way in which order to televise the episodes(Including Year 2). To simplify the process of ordering the episodes, Shout! and Imprint(And maybe others) order them by production code.

Epic series! It has been a while since I was this entertained by a TV show of any kind.
This series is simply fantastic! Easily my favorite show by far and I'm just three episodes into the series. Be warned that the episodes are randomly distributed throughout the discs so they are not in the broadcasted order. I went to "TheTVDB.com" to arrange my playlist in the correct order for viewing. I already know that I'm going to be sad when I finish this series because it is so awesome! I'm also a big Star Trek series fan so I've already seen how much the latter has borrowed from this gold standard in Sci-fi! This one is an instant classic!

Playable on U.S. Region Blu Ray Players
Picture and sound on episodes is the same excellent quality as the British ‘Network’ remasters. Superior collection of extras compared to the U.S. Shout Factory release ( including the 4 “telemovies”, never released on disc in the U.S. ). Although an Australian release, I’ve had no issues playing this on any of my Region A Blu ray players. Great value for the price.

Great Set
This is an awesome set of an awesome show. Some have complained about the episodes being out of order, which is nonsensical because each story is self-contained. There is no overarching story. Besides, the episodes are in production order. Broadcast order is irrelevant.

This is an awesome collective set to own! Because I just love this old timer TV show I couldn' t help myself from buying it. The price was perfect! Just one thing you must know is that this series does not play in Canada DVD players. Unless you own one that plays all regions, like for example this DVD's collection is region 2 (UK) and because where I live my DVD player only plays region 1 (Canada & USA)! So, because I did not want to send it back, it's hard to find this collection for a good price that plays region 1. I decided to buy instead another DVD player that plays all regions/countries DVD's! HeHe Now I can't go wrong! LoL Despite it all, still happy with this purchase! Thank you!

Was so glad I purchased this collection on Blu-Ray, the colours are magnificent and so much picture clarity. Was great to watch all the episodes again and re-live my childhood. The episodes are exactly how I remember them and some I didn’t. Yes they maybe slightly outdated, but don’t let that ruin the experience. Had so much fun watching and thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely watch all episodes again soon.

There are one-star reviews at the top of the review pile and many people will wrongly assume it relates to this release (which it doesn't). Those poor reviews relate to a 10 disc version of Space 1999, not the 14 disc Ultimate Edition released by Imprint, an Australian label. Everything about this boxed set spells quality. The blu-ray discs, the booklet and the hard case that they fit in are beautiful. Inside of the box, each of the (two) series comes in a separate blu-ray case, with season 1 containing six discs and season 2 having eight. The extra two discs in the second set contain all four of the compilation films from the series. In addition, this set contains extras that were included on both the British and American releases, so Imprint are quite right to call this "The Ultimate Edition". If you're a fan of the series then this is a must-buy.
