Kendal Vivid Large Deer Handcrafted Wood Cuckoo Clock with 4 Dancers Dancing with Music

This is a pretty big cuckoo clock, which I just love. It makes a very pretty "furnishing"to my living room. I bought a cuckoo clock about 20 years ago but had to replace itbecause the terminals got so corroded, but I have that hanging in my bedroom, justbecause it is such a pretty piece. The Kendal clock keeps perfect time, (no "cuckoo"noises, thank you), and it is pretty much what I expected and I'm very happy that Ibought it.

I am writing this review 2.5 months after purchasing product so I could give a better review. This is a large clock as per item description 26"(H) (not include the length of the tails) x19.3"x8.3" if you add the tail the height is about 34''. I saw some negative reviews on this product and it made me hesitant in buying this product. I am glad I went ahead and ordered it. One concern was the echo you hear. The clock does go Cuckoo Cuckoo wait a second then repeat it again. I personally have no problem counting the numbers of cuckoos. The tails or the weights are fake, but its not feasible to find a clock that works completely like a several thousand dollar clock. The clock runs on batteries. The sheet that came along with it said that it would last for a full year before batteries need to be replaced. Another concern was did it keep good time. Since I installed it in early to mid december, It has kept perfect time. Another concern I had was with the dancing angels quality, They are a plastic material and the eyes are not colored in. I have to agree the quality could be a little better but who is going to stand 12 inches from the clock and stare at the angels face. The one draw back I have which was noted in another review is as the angels are turning on angel sometimes slightly hits the wood on the inner part of the clock. I haven't noticed any problems with the clocks function due to this despite the angels probably moving around in there about 1800 times ( assuming 75 days) the wood where the plastic piece hits is not damage in the least with this much use. I was so pleased with this clock that I purchased 2 more clocks for some reason the clocks were priced $26 higher than the first clock. But despite that I was thrilled to get 2 more clocks one for my mother and one for my sister. My sister's family all love the clock. At first her girls would run downstairs to see the angels move every hour. They no longer do that now but really enjoy the cuckoo and nursery rhymes. I am not sure if its just me paying more attention but it appears the nursery rhymes songs has more notes in it the longer it plays. The Clock has an on off sensor to so its not suppose to go offUpdate 1 year later clock keeps time perfectly the dancing angels stick from time to time but works very well for a year later

I didn't think it would be that big but I really enjoy it. I have not gotten it to the exact timing yet, but its really a piece of art on my wall.

But first a word about the New Shining Image Company. My clock shipped with only one of the wooden dangles. We did not discover this until Mother's Day, even though the clock had arrived more than a week earlier, because it was a Mother's Day gift. I emailed New Shining Image through Amazon on Sunday, expecting at best to get a reply on Monday. To my surprise, they responded within an hour. On Monday the missing "weights" were on their way, and here in Houston by Thursday. That is truly exceptionally good customer service.An earlier review dissed this clock because "It isn't a real Black Forest Cuckoo Clock." Well, Duh! Sure, those are nice, and an equivalent mechanical clock from Europe could easily run $1200.00 or more. Sure, if you are rich, go for one of those. But for everyone else like us, who have to live on a real-world budget, this is as close as we will ever come to owning a cuckoo clock. My wife loves it, and I am very grateful to have come upon it while searching the web for cuckoo clocks we could actually afford.Yes, this is a battery-operated clock; the "weights" are carved from wood and are ornamental only. It's nice that the pendulum swings via a motor, even though it is ornamental, too, and is not used to adjust the speed of the clock. For $100.00 this clock is a fantastic bargain! It keeps time well; the cuckoo sound with echo sounds nice, and the music with the twirling dancers is even better. The case is hand-carved wood, not plastic, and it has all of the beauty of real wood. The clock keeps time well.I could not be more satisfied or happier with it.

This cuckoo clock is better than I expected. Let’s face it, any cuckoo clock made in the Black Forest that cost 120.00 was bound to be tiny, stamped out, and pitiful. It would have been inaccurate and prone to breakdowns. It would have been like the three losers that I foolishly bought in the the childish hope that I’d get to see and hear the charmingly fairytale whimsical CUCKOO on the hour.So I ordered this one. And It’s great. Big. Loud. Accurate. Cheesey. Garish. Noisy and does all sorts of silly movements. The pedulum swings, the dancers spin, the cuckoo leaps out and cuckoos. It’s got leaves and deer and trees; it’s got three weights hanging on chains. It looks like wood, in fact I think a lot of the decoration is wood. Now comes the kicker, because it’s movement is quartz it’s super accurate and probably won’t wear out for years. It does everything it’s supposed to do. It’s wonderful. It’s the absolute fulfillment of my 8 year old heart’s wish for the perfect cuckoo clock. For a little over 120.00 and free shipping.(There is One thing I might change, if I could, the cuckoo has an echo...why? But I guess that just adds to the whimsy...I

pictures dont do this clock justice very well made and beautiflully crafted ... I gave this to my wife on xmas and she was thrilled havent had time to hang it yet but will do so soon hope it works as good as it looks came packaged very well and was delivered in a timely manner.. only slightly disapointed in that I thought it was made in Germany but turned out it was made in China,,, the ad for this clock did not state where it was made but it led me to believe it was in germany...
