What I like best is the small gell-packs that are inserted into their own packets and secured. The pens are inserted on the opposite side of that pack. They definitely stay at the right temps but I've only taken short 8hr trips so far. Not sure how long they actually stay cold yet. My issue with it is that its larger than I expected and for some reason (I don't know if mines defective or not) the zipper cover is sewn into the zipper itself. This means that to zip and unzip this case you are pulling it over the zipper cover which makes it very difficult.
