Nice Shorts
I was looking for a good pair of hiking shorts, and went with these. These shorts are 35% cotton, so they were heavier than I was expecting. I'll keep them anyway, as they appear to be well constructed, and fit really well. I'm a 31 waist, and ordered the size 30 shorts knowing that they had some "stretch" built-in. I was afraid they might be too tight, but they fit nicely. Not too snug, but tight enough so they can be worn w/o a belt. The stitching looks good, and the zippers work and appear to be of good quality. The shorts look good; if a tad long for my taste. They are marketed as "urban survival shorts". Honestly, I'm not sure what that means, but there are plenty of pockets with good closure for security. As noted; I was really looking for a lightweight pair of hiking shorts; something that would dry quickly and pack really easily w/ little bulk. Toward that end, I was hoping for some mesh pockets and interior crotch. These have neither. Still, the quality is good, and they're comfortable. They may not be exactly what I was looking for, but they're nice shorts. They are as advertised.

Great tactical shorts, fit and wear well and are more comfortable than most
I've tried others like 5.11 and the material on these Hard Land seem to strike the right balance of being strong and tough without being too scratch, stiff and uncomfortable. I've been using a pair of their long pants for USPSA competition and with Summer here needed a short pair to stay cool but still wear well and fit well. These are perfect. I'm 6ft 0in tall and normally wear a 32" leg for long pants, the 9.5" inseam is just about right -- falling just above my knee -- any longer and they'd be too long (for me) since I don't want that uncomfortable feeling pulling over my knee when you sit. I normally look for about a 9" inseam on shorts. So for those with shorter legs you might consider something shorter if this bothers you.

Nice work shorts
TLDR: Buy them. They're worth the money.I work maintenance in Arizona which means hot weather and I also operate a pool which means im getting wet often. I needed a pair of shorts that stood up to the more demanding jobs but weren't dummy thicc like Dickies or Carhart that retain all the water and sweat, and these are perfect for that. They don't feel quite as durable as the ripstop my army uniforms were made of but they dry a lot faster which is a trade off I'm willing to make. The material fades a bit and isn't quite so "silky" after a few washes (might be the soap i use combined with the desert sand), but if you're buying these to work security or law enforcement which I think is what they're intended for they might start to look a little too drab for your dress code.I like the key loops that hang below the belt line so you can access them while wearing a tool belt or duty belt, but I'm not sure why they put the plastic one on the right side only. I'm left handed and I'm not a big fan of the fabric loop on the left side for keys. I ended up hanging a carabiner off it so I could get to my keys easier as the fabric loop likes to twist and curl up after washing and it is tricky to use without looking at it. You could maybe iron it flat and it would work fine but plastic rings on both sides would be an improvement in my opinion. The belt loops are beefy which is nice. Their spacing is good and I don't have any areas that sag below the belt line even with tool pouches on my belt. If you're getting these for security/enforcement I assume you will have a duty belt which I think you need. With the belt loops being so wide you don't have a lot of options as to where your gear is mounted. I have 2 belt mounted tool pouches and a flashlight; the tools sit on my right/left hip with no extra room so the flashlight needs to be much further back than I usually wear it with regular work pants. Not a problem per se, but something that might be good to know.Lastly, and the reason I ordered these specifically. They came in my size and don't make me look like a bum! I'm a large guy and most "tactical" style pants/shorts don't come in my size in general. I'm 6'1" 270lbs, and when I do find pants in my size they have a titanic crotch/butt area and the shorts come down to my shins. These fit well without a bunch of loose fabric and don't restrict my movement when bending or kneeling by getting caught around my knees. The elastic waist in the back is just a bonus and means you don't have to play around getting the sizing just right. Order what you think you need and it gives you enough wiggle room that it is still comfortable whether it's slightly too big or too small.

Good fit and quality, almost perfect.
Quality seems quite good, both in construction and material. Seams are all well sewn and even. Material is substantial enough to be durable but still light and comfortable. Design is good with one minor exception. There are eight pockets and all are very usable except the two smaller pockets on the front with the velcro flaps. They are small and anything you put in them totally prints an outline on your thigh. Oh well, there are still six very usable pockets. I really like the zippered side pockets. As far as size, I'm 6'1", 205 lbs. I could wear 34 but I like the roominess of the 36. There is elastic to make them a close fit but I still need a belt for a secure fit. I'm okay with that, as I normally wear a belt anyway. I will likely buy another pair in a different color soon.

Overall amazing shorts
I recently put on weight due to not working from an injury and got these for work shorts til I drop the weight. I'm 5"11 250 with a gut and love handles, I got size 40 and they fit good bit need to be worn with a belt cuz of the elastic in the waistband which is no big deal. They rest right at the center of my knee so not too short and not too long. I use the zipper pockets on the the left and right leg for my cell phones I have a Note 10+ and iphone 7 plus and they fit together in the same pocket with no issues. My issue is with the velcro on the rear butt pockets. I dont need pocket flaps nor do I need velcro. I use my rear pockets for hand tools while on the job and the flap gets in the way and the velcro keeps the pocket closed not allowing easy access to said tools also if I need to sit on the floor while working the velcro grabs the carpet.

Very Well Made
As some one else already said, these shorts are exact size. A 32 is 32, a 34 is 34. If you need 33, buy the 34. There is a tiny bit of stretch to the waist, but not much. The quality of the zippers and the material is high quality and I'm pretty sure these shorts will last a good while. The other good thing is that the metal items don't set of the TSA metal detector alarm at the airport.

No odd # sizes
Will have to return these sadly, as they're a too big. Bought a 34 for my 33" waist and they're just a little big. They fit fine in the waist due to the elastic insert on the waist band but kinda sloppy on my. They are really nice shorts! Fabric is a medium weight, well made, stitching looks excellent, good quality zippers. If they had a 33 I'd be all over 'em. Hope this review helps you make the right call.

One issue.
One issue: the side leg zipper-head broke right off the track on the second day. I spent $10 at a tailor to repair and reinforce. Recommend a stopper at the end so zipper doesn’t slide off when manufacturing. I still love the shorts. Well made. True to size. Would buy again.

Good but...
The fabric used for the main button and eyelet could have been thicker. I might modify to avoid tearing it. The pants aren't too tight - not contributing to excess pull. Just a little worried that normal activities will tear them.
