Not for the Taste, But Absolutely for the Results (and a smart buy vs. expensive brands)
To be honest, NOW Foods Micellar Casein isn’t the kind of protein you drink for pleasure. It doesn’t smell great, and the flavor is very mild, slightly milky, and neutral at best. But that’s completely expected from pure, unflavored casein, and it’s also what makes it one of the cleanest and most effective proteins you can buy. Here’s what really impressed me: the quality rivals top-tier, far more expensive brands, yet it comes at a significantly lower price point. Each serving gives you 19g of pure micellar casein, which digests slowly to provide a steady stream of amino acids over several hours. This is exactly why casein is so valuable, it’s ideal before bed or between long gaps in meals, keeping your muscles nourished while you rest. In my experience, I’ve noticed reduced nighttime hunger and I wake up feeling less hungry in the morning — clear proof that it’s doing its slow-release job. The ingredient list is refreshingly short and transparent: Micellar casein (the real deal) Non-GMO sunflower lecithin (a natural emulsifier to help it mix better) Speaking of mixing, with a proper shaker or blender, it mixes surprisingly well for a casein powder. The texture is smooth, and it thickens nicely, If you add milk it thickens too much that I couldn't believe it at first, perfect for a creamy shake before bed. If you want to improve the flavor, try blending it with greens or chocolate powder, it easily takes on other flavors. Why I rate it 5 stars: - Clean, minimal ingredient list. - Excellent slow-release protein for overnight recovery. - Keeps you full longer and helps prevent nighttime hunger. - Outstanding value, performs like premium brands at a lower cost. Specially when Amazon lowered the price for like 3 months. Overall not delicious, but undeniably effective.

Clean and High quality just as expected from Now Sports
I'm perplexed by the bad reviews and complaints about taste and mixability. Reading those, I expected a foul tasting clumpy concoction similar to unflavored BCAA or EA powders. What I actually got is a pure casein powder, that looks just a bit coarser and darker than their Whey. Mixing with half milk and half water, this Casein powder tastes amazingly clean, similar to Now Sport's Excellent unflavored whey isolate powder. The taste is naturally more milky than why isolate but nothing unpleasant in the slightest. Mixability is great in a Blender Bottle(with the metal ball), and the texture of the end product is smooth and creamy. I haven't bothered to check for any residue at the bottom of the bottle, but if it's there I couldn't care less as it would get lost in all the cacao powder, flax, and chia seeds that I typically add to my protein shakes. Regarding the effects, I absolutely trust Now's lab work and label, so it works as well as any other pure casein supplement. TLDR, highly recommended great tasting casein powder from a well-respected brand, makes me a happy (and returning) customer.

Old school vitamin company
Old school vitamin company that started selling sports nutrition several years back. Great quality. It's unflavored so ofc it's not going to taste wonderful. But mixed with, e.g. vanilla yogurt, it tastes just fine.

Great quality, consistency and no foul chemical smell.
the product quality is great. no visible foreign objects, inconsistency in the powder texture or foul smell or such (this is a dairy derivative so it will have that smell though). mixing it is not easy though and the taste is not good at all (but that is due to Casein's nature anyhow) and that is where my problem is. The unflavored whey protein isolate from Now foods is a breeze to drink. I mix it in a quart of water and gulp it down easy. but this one doesn't sit right with me which is why I am not finishing it as fast as I should. However, it does make you feel satiated and doesn't cause bloating too. This is a great protein but I personally am not able to deal with it that well (maybe a flavored option mixed with milk would be a better option, but then the extra sugar is concerning).

It doesn't dissolve in any liquid!
It is truly unflavored, but it doesn't dissolve in any liquid! The colder the mixture, the more it forms clumps that do not fully mix -- not even in a blender on high speed. That also creates a cement-like mess along the sides of the container that is hard to clean. Mixed into yogurt it has a gritty, awful mouth feel. Not recommended!

NOW Brand versus Nutricost
I had been buying now foods casein and whey for years and switched a couple of years ago to Nutricost because it was about 10% less expensive. This was a huge mistake because the quality of Nutracost is as poor as their product customer support. In particular the casein has always had a slight rancid smell which I assumed was somehow normal don’t ask me what I was thinking. So I’ve returned to now foods and the product is fresh and sweet and it’s also better food quality with slightly more protein and calcium for the same weight and 50% as much sodium.

Tastes Horrible
I'm not knocking the value of a good casein protein powder. It sure does its job. However, I have to say that the taste is just horrible, cringe-inducing. It's not "unflavored" at all. I have another NOW unflavored powder that is, in fact, unflavored; however, this Micellar Casein is not that. I try to mask it by adding Stevia drops but mostly I'm avoiding using it.

Casein protein powder
This is good protein for late evening use. It digests slowly over the night to provide your body with a continuous supply of protein for rebuilding your muscles. It tends to clump so you need to mix it quickly.
