Great for Tour Guides!
I'm a tour guide here in Las Vegas and occasionally walk groups of up to 15-30 people through Fremont Street. For those of you who haven't been here, it is similar to Mardi Gras and Carnaval, lots of music and distractions. Usually, I would have to yell over the din to tell my stories and of course yelling gets pretty tiring, so eventually, you cut you're explanations and stories shorter and shorter as the night goes on, thus doing a disservice to your clients as well as yourself (tip wise). The Aker Portable Amplifier 16W version is just what I needed. -Now I can talk normally all night long and my group can finally hear me. It gets just loud enough so you can hear me like I was yelling, but my voice comes across in more of a conversational tone. With a slight adjustment of the volume knob, I can use the amplifier inside the casinos without disrupting anyone's gambling enjoyment, which is important, since you DO NOT want to upset the Casino in ANY way. -The amplifier projects in the direction you are facing. I can also swing the projector around to my back to talk while I'm leading the group. -I wear the item using the straps as a belt as the clip does seem weak and likely to break. -The microphone is meant to drape over your ears and BEHIND your head, not over. I was concerned about a previous review about the microphone not fitting anyone's head, but have since figured out that they were morons. Trust me in saying that this is a one size fits all mic. -Issues with Feedback were nil as long as I wore it as a belt and didn't bend over to bring the mic close to the amplifier. -Came with an additional amp cord so maybe you could play music from an ipod and talk over the music (haven't tried this) -Comes with a little sack to hold all the items -Seems to hold a charge well. -Charger comes with the item, though the battery isn't readily accessible. Directions says that the battery is good up to a year with constant use. My recommendation is to go with the 16W version as it seems to be the same size as the 14W and you can always use the extra volume in certain situations. The Aker Portable Voice Amplifier is black, small and unobtrusive. The voice quality is good and does an excellent job, especially for the price. (I wouldn't use it as a voice amplifier for singers - it's not that good - lol) Hope this review helps!

The product rocks!!
I bought this product for classroom and small group settings where I needed a little more projection. Once I got the hang of adjusting the volume and positioning the mic to avoid feedback, it worked like a charm. I didn't have to strain my voice, in fact, it was projecting my whispers to the back of the room. I loaned it to a teacher who lost her voice after coming back from maternity leave so she could keep on teaching and not strain her voice. I love the product and highly recommend it.

Great Amplification
I looked long and hard to get a small voice amp with big sound. In my profession. people like Caliphone, but while knowing nothing, I studied various brand specs, and saw the Aker had much more bang for less buck. It also had a belt clip which was important to me. Also, the charging was easy and the charge lasts for 16 hours which was more than most. The sound is powerful; it reaches across most of a large city playground. I can talk low in the gym and everyone can hear me. The sound is clear. The insides of the product are quality. The accessories could be more durable. I'm pretty hard on things, and although I was being careful, the belt clip broke on day two. But, it also had a strap I think goes over the neck/shoulder, but I used it as a belt. It was fine although you can't run because it will bounce; with the belt clip you can run. Also, the i-pod connecter conked out after a couple of days and I promise, I didn't pull on it. That's the reason I gave the amp four, not five, stars. I also lost the headset. The seller, TK Electronics, was amazing. He replaced everything and sent me a new headset and belt clip and i-pod cord. And they got here so fast. I expect this model # is discontinued to make room for a new one. I highly recommend Aker and TK Electronics, so if you need a personal voice amp, get TK to recommend an Aker model # for you.

A Little Powerhouse to Save Your Voice!
I have had this little powerhouse for over two years and it works perfectly. TEACHING: It doubles the volume of your voice when speaking. If you are a teacher and want to save your voice, then this is for you. PERFORMING: I even use this - with several others - in my vocal acapella group. When walking and singing outside (like Christmas Carols) we can be heard 50 feet away. It adds treble to the voice which can still be heard live. You singers know what I'm talking about. RUN TIME: I don't know! I have never had it go dead! After 2 - 3 hours of talking/singing, it's still going. DURABILITY: I dropped it once and thought it was all over for the unit. But... to my surprise, it was fine. Get this little guy if it fits your specific needs as a teacher or performer.

Fine product, for the price
I think this product is one of the best personal voice amplifiers you can get for under $100 and their customer service is great. I use mine for my job as a tour guide. Admittedly it does have a slight problem with feedback but I think that's partially because I often use it in echoey places. My headset broke after a month and a half and the company immediately sent me a free replacement...what service! The battery life seems great as well, I've never had the box die on me (as long as it starts off fully charged) even when I use if for 8 hours straight.

Only Lasted a Few Months
I'm a school librarian at an elementary school, and my voice therapist recommended I buy a voice amplifier since I have vocal cord issues. I decided on this one. It started out working wonderfully, but it didn't last. After just a few months of use, it now screeches and makes crackling noises whenever I try to use it. I'm disappointed. Now I'm on the hunt for another one.

Model Number Confusion
Short Version: The features keep changing, even though the model number is the same. This is a problem, and a big disappointment, as the MR2200 I received does not include the (stereo) Line In, which I use to attach my MP3 player to it :-( NOTE: The Mic input is MONO and will not properly play stereo inputs. Long Version: I'm a big fan of the AKER series of rechargeable speakers. Over the years I have purchased 4 MR2200s, 1 MR 2800, and 2 AK 38s. The best features are the volume for the small size, and the battery life (4-6 hours at full volume!). The worst aspect has been poor quality control. Note: I use these speakers exclusively to play music from my MP3 or phone using a stereo 3.5mm connector into the Line In input. On several of the models, the Line In becomes intermittent and cuts out. It seems that it simply isn't very rugged. Also, one model I bought did not play both channels right out of the box! (An easy way to test this is to play Led Zeppelin's song, Whole Lotta Love at about 3:03 into it you will definitely know if both channels are being played.) Another thing that has changed over time is the feature set. All of the previous models I purchased had at least two inputs--each takes a 3.5mm jack, but one is for a Mic and is MONO, the other is LINE IN, for things like MP3 players and is stereo. Over time AKER added slots for USB, and most recently for microSD. (I'm still waiting for Bluetooth!). Alas, the features change, but the model numbers do not. I presently have one MR2200 that has a Line In. I ordered a second one expecting to get the exact same model; that way I could splice the signal and have two speakers in my backpack for the East Bay Bike Party on my unicycle. But the new one that I received, the subject of this review, was DIFFERENT. It now came with a microSD slot -- nice feature, but not what I need, and NO LINE IN. AND NO, YOU CANNOT USE THE MIC INPUT -- YOU WILL ONLY HEAR THE SECOND CHANNEL EVER SO FAINTLY -- SEE THE LED ZEPPELIN TEST ABOVE. So, Aker, or TK Products, or whoever is responsible for marketing these products really need to get their act together.

Perfect for Public Speaking & Superb Sales Support
I give frequent talks to noisy groups of between 100 to 300 people, and it has taken its toll on my throat. This device is _exactly_ what I needed. It's compact, light, easily portable (has a belt clip and a cord for wearing the speaker around the neck or waist), rechargeable, and is very loud and clear. At first I wasn't sure about spending this much money -- I was worried about the quality and the weight -- but the sound quality is both loud and very clear, and the speaker is very lightweight; I couldn't believe that something so lightweight could produce that kind of volume. It's worth every penny. I would also definitely recommend this seller; he responded to my questions with lightning speed, and using the rush delivery option it was in my hands less than 48 hours after I ordered.

Not that inpressed.
I have not used it outside of the home I boughtit because iI sing and play to the vets and the elderly. I am hoping it will be loud enough for them to hear. I feel that the headset is very cheap and won't last I am constantly adjusting it. Perhaps I should have gone for the more expensive one by I didn't really have the money. I will be singing for the vets this month so I should find out more.

Five Stars
Came promptly and works as advertised.

I was disappointed that the lapel microphone (ordered separately) did not work ...
This product did what it advertised it would do. I bought it for an elderly person whose voice is very weak. I was disappointed that the lapel microphone (ordered separately) did not work well because the head-set is not very practical to wear all day. And I would have liked the device to be smaller, however, again - it was as advertised.
