A Concise Guide to Macroeconomics, Second Edition: What Managers, Executives, and Students Need to Know [Moss, David A.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. A Concise Guide to Macroeconomics, Second Edition: What Managers, Executives, and Students Need to Know Review: Very clear and well written. Short and too the point. Worth every penny. - Best book I've read this year. As the title says, it is concise. Clear with thoughtful examples with unbiased descriptions of conflicting theories. Unlike some older texts, the author includes results from behavioral economics. Read page 146, "Uses and Misuses of Macroeconomics" first because it is perhaps the most important page in the book. If you are taking a macro economics course, you can read this book in a few hours and it will make the course material easier to understand. If you are an amateur investor who reads the financial pages, this book is worth your while. Again, start with page 146 where the author's warnings explain why some opinion pieces published in the financial journals are nonsense (or political ax-grinding). Review: Very educational - Before reading I didnt know what macroeconomics was. I wasnt oblivious to economics, but I never studied it. The amount of information contained really helps explain everything. Some chapters glaze over ways of tracting methods, but there are books that go in depth on those select chapters.

Not a textbook, which is its real strength
I was looking for a text that would introduce people to Macroeconomics concepts and ideas without being a Macroeconomic text book. I did a number of web searches and this book kept coming up as recommended. When I got it and flipped through it, I did not see the graphs and other things I expected -- still with a text book mentality. So I started reading and at first the language is academic. Talking about Output, etc. But after reading the first chapter and allowing my self to take it all in, the book's value comes out. Yes its a bit academic and macro economics has some big concepts, but if you give the book the time to read through part 1, then you will understand more. The books principles and ideas are timeless, but David Moss does a nice job of including commentary on the 2007 recession and the economic policies followed. Overall recommended for people who want to know more about how the macro economy works and make better sense out of the economic headlines.

Excellent
This fantastic little primer covers the basic principles of macroeconomics as clearly and concisely as one could possibly ask for. If you don't have time to read a textbook, this will familiarize you with the basics.

Watch a Youtube video instead.
Concise meaning only the big ideas are covered and less of the details. GDP, money supply, and balance of payments are explained for 20+ dollars. Good if you need a short general understanding. Better if it was cheaper. Worth a read if you have audible

This is very far from my field of knowledge. The book is easy to understand for a lay person, especially with some googling of terms. Gives a great overview of macroeconomics. This book is great if you want to understand the basics of marco without going into many details.

Perfect book to understand the basic macroeconomic principles. Easy to read, not as complex and boring as other macroeconomic guides. Straight to the point, with insightful examples. Thanks to David A. Moss for sharing this excellent summary.

I bought this book to try to understand macroeconomics, so growth, GDP, inflation, real and nominal, supply and demand, cross border trade, balance of payments, deficit spending a la Keynes, national and international economic relationships, etc. This author is a superior communicator and teaches the subject so well. I would recommend this excellent introduction to macroeconomics to anyone like me who needs to understand it without getting in too deep. Five stars from me.
