Is this product good to use?

For me, yes. Definately shortens the illness and I don't ever feel below an 85% level. Helps with sinuses at the same time.

Are there any studies supporting the effectiveness of the new, non-zinc version?

The packaging says that the product is clinically proven to shorten colds. I have not looked for or seen any research. In any case, the product helps me. I use it for allergy related sinus congestion more often than for colds. I never had any issues with the zinc version, so I also use the oral mist, which includes zinc.
