Review: Jolly Good Time!!! - This is the first time for me to read this author, I have read literally thousands of Regencys. I LOVED this book!! The Plot is very good, the characters are well filled out, there's not a bunch of descriptive filler (that I hate), the hero is manly without being dictatorial, he is handsome and moral. The heroine is great, she is a tough. Woman yet she is womanly.. She Has a good heart, she is beautiful and smart. But best of all this book is Very Funny, I couldn't put it down. It has it all. Sadness, Drama, Romance, Comical, and a Firm appreciation Of what you can do if you have to. I Would Highly Recommend this book to anyone that wants to really enjoy a book and I am going right over to the online desertcart and buy another one of her books Review: NICE INTRODUCTION TO THIS FAMILY - I enjoy this author's writing style and own many of her books. This at times had more filler than was necessary, that is why I only gave 4 stars. I did enjoy how we meet the women of this story, and how the H is introduced to us. You will laugh at times, over the happenings of this family. There is lovemaking, but only once and within marriage at the 95% of the book. We do get HEA, a twist at the end that I didn't see coming. We meet two of our H friends, and I hope they will win some of the girls hearts. There isn't a cliffhanger, we get romance that builds slowly too. Yes, I recommend this story and any other books by this author. I am not going into the premise, as many have explained it. You will find strong H and h and a cute story line to keep you busy for a few hours. (ljb)

TOTALLY AWESOME PICK ME UP FUN READ!!
I absolutely love Collette Cameron style of writing. Her books include a little bit of each emotion known to man, including humor. Wagers Gone Awry is the first book in a new series, Conundrums of the Misses Culpepper. This particular story unfolds the story with the five Culpepper sisters finding out that their home, which is a country dairy farm they actually work and support themselves with as well as paying rent to their guardian, the owner of the farm. On one rainy, stormy night they receive written notice that the farm now has a new owner, which unknown to them at the time, won the property in a card game. Within a couple of hours after reading the correspondence the new owner, unexpectedly shows up at the door to look over his property he thinks to sell. The new owner, Earl of Ravensdale, Heath, is a city guy and really doesn’t like the country. He is in for some unforeseen incidents as he rides his horse to the farm, and the weather turns stormy, raining, and very windy. He has a night like no other in his entire life, and as a result shows up at the door in a dripping muddy mess, only to find that his property is actually the home of five sisters who he will have to remove to sell the property. The sisters have lived there all their life and in no way want to move. So what happens when these country girls who actually work to support themselves and a city Earl clash when they meet? Just imagine!!! As the eldest, Brooke, discovers the Earl didn’t purchase the property but actually won it in a card game, has an idea of a wager she proposes. Then let the fun begin!! The Earl, if he wins, gets a new mistress, but Brooke has no plans to lose. With Wagers Gone Awry being such a fascinating page turner from page one through to the last, I am very much looking forward to this entire series and can’t wait for the next in line. I very highly recommend this book, or any other book written by Collette Cameron. This author has a permanent place on my reread keeper shelf.

Good afternoon read.
This is my first book from this author. I really like the story and characters. I only gave a three star rating as I wanted so much more. The plot was perfect and made the story unique and exciting. My disappointment is lack of story in areas of the romance, details about the other girls... More interaction amongst the characters and lastly... So much time was written about the poverty state of the property and the malnutrition of the family... It would have been exciting to read about the transformation of the house and all of the girls. Just as much as it would have been great to read about the reaction of many seeing them for the first time as proper ladies. They is so much opportunities with these gems. I will buy the series and I truly hope the author gives the other girls more in their stories. I would also like to hear how this couple Marie's as heads of households.... So it's a three star with encouragement...

Brooke and Heath
I enjoyed this story immensely. Five lovely Culpepper women, two sisters and their three cousins, are living in rather abject poverty on a dairy farm that had been in their family for ages. Unfortunately, when the sisters' father died, the land and buildings went to the nearest male relative, a particularly unpleasant cousin, Sheridan Gainsborough. He was their appointed guardian, but instead, he took half of their profits from the dairy farm, charged them rent, and otherwise, completely ignored them. Brooke was the oldest at twenty three. She managed the books and the sales. Her sister, Brette, and cousins - Blythe, and twins, Blaike and Blaire - all tried to do their part to help bring in money. But it was never enough. And then, Sheridan lost the farm in a card game....... Of course, their misfortune is our gain because this is where the Hero comes in. Heath, Earl of Ravensdale seems like a poor hero, at first. Oh, he's wealthy and handsome alright, but he seems cold and lacks empathy. But then we see, he has a conscience. This book takes a different turn as Heath and Brooke get to know each other. I really enjoyed this story. It was fun watching Heath and Brooke fall in love. There were some funny moments and a horrifying event. But all's well that ends well and we get our Happily Every After. I can't wait to dip into the rest of the series, so I can follow the exploits of the rest of the Culpepper clan. Come along and join the fun. You know you want to.

Not really a spinster
Hidden away on the farm are 5 gorgeous females that would have stayed hidden except for a gambling cousin. He gambled away a part of the property that was not entailed and Heath is the lucky guy who won. Enter Brooke who is the glue that hold the family and farm together. She is considered on the shelf and has way too much responsibility on her thin shoulders. One of the household members take exception to Heath claim and just about does Heath in. There a lot of laughs and mayhem as this story unfolds in a house that is falling apart and a farm that is full of cows, milk and manure. The undeniable chemistry between Heath and Brooke makes for lots of steamy kisses. I love this story and can't wait to read all of their stories.

Absolutely loved it!
This has quickly become one of my all time favorites! I am so lucky to have stumbled upon this author and this book! Brooke is one of the best written characters in historical romance. Strong, determined and kind are only a few of the amazing things about this character. I absolutely adore her, her sister and their three cousins. Such a truly strong group of girls who deserved so much more in life and were devastated to find out of their impending eviction from the only home they’ve known. Heath had no idea what he was getting into when he won a bet granting him ownership of land. Set on selling as quickly as he could be rid of the farm, things quickly begin to change the moment Brooke steps through the front door. Add in her sister and their three cousins, he isn’t quite sure what to do anymore. After miss-haps, a concussion, an ill serving and yet more unexpected guests, one wonders if the black cloud following Brooke and her family will ever give way to sunshine and rainbows. What will happen to these wonderfully adorable girls who no longer have a home? I couldn’t put this book down and ended up reading it in less than a day. Absolutely enthralling. I cannot wait to start reading another book from this author.

Nice romance, but...
I liked all the characters, including the dog. The hero was an ass at the beginning, but he redeemed himself. What I missed in this book was more romance. That is not to say the book dragged on. In fact, I liked the pace, I just wanted more before and after the wedding night consummation. The latter happened at the end. I guess it’s a compliment to say I enjoyed the part I read but longed for more. It wasn’t a Novella, but in terms of the actual romance, it kind of felt like it. For the life of me, I can’t put my finger on why. Perhaps it’s because all of - or many of - the characters for following books in the series were introduced, and the main characters had to share the stage. It reminded me a little of a Peter Pan musical I saw once where Peter Pan, himself, sang only one song and near the end. It just felt off.

Great novel to start a new series
I loved the characters in this novel - the sister and cousins characters were laid out so well - even Duffen and Mabry as servants - loved Heath, Leventhorpe, and Hawksworthe and I hope we see them in the rest of the series. I thought the author set up for the series well with this novel without losing the focus of this story.
