After 3 Years, Going Strong!
I like to submit reviews after I've used a product for a while -- we live in world where so many things are built to break, and when you're paying this much for a vacuum, you want to know it will stand the test of time. First, this is the stripped-down version, but the sucking power is tremendous -- enough that it easily takes care of our hardwood floors, but also works for our heavy rugs, even a large "shag" rug. Lesser vacuums will use spinning rollers to move carpet fibers around, but I'm pretty sure that equal or superior cleaning can be accomplished just with the massive suction power of this vacuum. We love that it's also light and quiet. The simple attachments are well thought-out -- you can easily shorten or lengthen the working end, and the brush attachment is GREAT for cleaning window screens. After three years, the cord is still retracting like the day we bought it, and the suction is just as strong. Note that this is an investment, and to keep it healthy you probably want to go with miele brand bags made especially for this vacuum. They're pricey, and if you're plastic conscious, they have a plastic attachment on each bag. But the way they filter the air (along with the other filters in the vacuum) means that super-clean air emerges from the top of the vacuum. That's another plus, by the way -- the external air vent is on top of the vacuum. We've had other vacuums where it vents out the back, often blowing dust and dirt around. But straight up means that that doesn't happen. I'm trying to think of some cons, but after trying so many other lesser vacuums in the past and having so many break (cord not retracting, power button malfunctioning, etc.), we're just so happy with our "princess miele". A final note is that the three years of service from this vacuum haven't been gentle years -- we've gone through two moves, and loaned it repeatedly to a neighbor who didn't have a vacuum. It's been used pretty hard. As for me, I'd rather spend more on a product that not only works great, but stands the test of time. Ends up being cheaper on the wallet and easier on the landfills to not have to buy vacuums repeatedly (which is what we did before this -- once we bought two in one year!) If you're looking for an easy-to-use vacuum that kicks butt and keeps going strong, this is your baby.

Wow, straight suction isn't in the same category as gutless no-bag vacs
Our bagless vacuum that we've had for several is progressing getting more and more gutless. It just doesn't pick up even small lightweight bits. I grew up with bag vacuums and after some research found this Classic C1 Miele. We have a lot of hardwood floors in this new house and one of the reasons I decided to go with this model is because of those floors. The other was the "pure suction" description. I didn't care for the floorhead it came with. There is a vinyl strip that seems to have contact with the wood floors while vacking. This same head was horrible for our cotton area rug. EVen on the lowest suction and the tile floor setting, it roughed up the cotton and I ended up with a lot of lint. I ordered the Miele SBB 300-3 Twister Parquet Floorhead, spendy, but reviews sounded good, and it was worth it. And I just ordered the (shhh... a non-brand model) Turbo Head cleaner for that cotton rug and the rooms that have standard carpeting. The Parquet sweeps our hardwood and tile floors beautifully and I recommend it. They are cleaner than they've ever been with our old vacuum. The Turbo Head tool arrives tomorrow. It has rave reviews here on Amazon and I anticipate that it will work well. The vacuum itself costs more than any vacuum I have ever owned, and when you add the two additional floorheads it has been an expensive item. But, it is working extremely well (I don't even need the higher suction levels for most of what I do), it is lightweight and easy to move about the house (I'm retired, glad for that ease of movement) and seems quite well made, with high quality plastic than the previous (brand name not disclosed) vac I bought at a chain store. The various tools snap on and off easily. Overall I've spent about $425, but am satisfied with the product I now own, which matches our needs, and anticipate it lasting for years.

Five Star Vacuum Cleaner That's Great For Everyday Needs!
The Miele Classic C1 Canister Vacuum is a quality choice. As I write, have had mine for about 6-months. It thoroughly cleans thick or Berber carpets and easy to move between rooms with its long power cord. The motor has powerful suction to pick up objects such as food crumbs, tiny paper, small plastics, and pet hair. Canister encasing is sturdy plastic which does not break or scrape easily. Attachments fit well and useful on most upholstery surfaces. The vacuum is best suited for basic cleaning. Retail price for the vacuum is around $400, but sometimes had for less. The only drawback to report is vacuum bags/filters are pricey if one uses genuine branded replacements. So far, am completely satisfied!

A superb high quality vacuum, easy on my 77 year old back..
I have hardwood and linoleum flooring. On my first day of using it, I would give it 10 stars if I could. My wife has been wanting to clean all our baseboards due to dust buildup on the baseboard top. Using the brush attachment I was able to clean all the baseboards in our bedroom behind our bed with one pass of the vacuum. Impressive Suction! Be sure to buy the Twister hard floor head (extra) for hardwood floors. It's more effective than the included combination rug/hardwood floor head. Nice bristles keep it off the floor to pick up larger stuff and is gentle on the hardwood flooring. It has a much lower profile than the included combo head. I can even vacuum the floor under door stops. It also swivels to allow you to get around tight spaces (like a toilet) easily. I don't have enough time to remark on durability directly, but the plastic used seems to be very sturdy. Good quality materials and design. It has incredible suction, the best I've experienced on a vacuum. It is surprisingly quiet for a vacuum. I've not noticed any issue with cord length. You do have to move the plug to the room you will be vacuuming. UPDATE: After using this for 3 weeks. I LOVE this vac. As a man, it is one of the best tools I've used. The sucking sound from the Twister head is louder than the vacuum motor. Although the Twister head has bristles that elevate the head about 1/2" off the floor, you notice the suction force to the floor when you pick it up off the floor. Yet it glides effortlessly on the floor while vacuuming. I have not used their multiple use head so I don't know how easy this is to use on carpets or rugs.

Good machine but no motorized head. Great for wood or tile floors and very low pile area rugs.
Good machine, easy to maneuver and picks up well. However, I bought it to use for more in-depth cleaning, to supplement my Dyson, which I find is best for quick cleanups because it dies too quickly. Wanted a bagged system because I have several pets. My issue with this new vacuum cleaner is more a consequence of my failure to consider the limitations of the type of vacuum head this machine has. It’s a flat-faced plastic piece that slides along the floor or carpet. There’s no motorized aspect to the vacuuming action. I assumed it had some type of brush and motorized head because every canister I’ve had has had them. So it’s not so good for carpets. However, I have only 2 small, very low-pile area rugs and the rest of my floors are hardwood, so I can manage with this machine. I have purchased the parquet floor attachment but haven’t used it yet. Other reviewers speak positively about it. I do like the light weight of this machine, its maneuverability, and suction power.

Never knew what I was missing.
I've been using vacuums for more than 30+ years and had the usual expectations of them... mostly loud, harsh vibrations, left an odd residue smell, and usually broken or 1/2 of their original performance and new quality feel after just a few years. Well fast forward to this weekend when I took the plunge into a vacuum brand i knew nothing about and my vacuum game just got elevated. Quiet, solidly built, functional, strong suction, useful on the fly settings and a design that is appealing and classic. On top of all that, the price was comparable to what I payed for a now "curbside" vacuum that lasted only a couple years. The Miele C1 Classis is the "base" model of the Miele vacuum brand but at least for me its worlds ahead of any brand I’ve used before. As far as my actual vacuuming trial this weekend, it handled great with just the base model and the floor to carpet switchable head that came with it. I have about 80% hardwood floors and the rest are either low pile or some rougher indoor/outdoor mats which this vacuum did a great job on. I found that the very accessible exhaust adjust on the handle allowed for fast changes of suction - including when i had to open them up fully going over more shag rug carpets. Maybe in the near future i may add a roller attachment to get more stubborn debris like buried lint deep in the carpet but so far 99% of what I need to vacuum is handled by this machine. If I could make changes to the C1 it would be to have a hand operated off/on switch and perhaps having the vacuum a bit lighter.. but I think those are not possible on this base model in order to keep the costs down and put the money towards the more crucial points of the vacuum like the powerful yet quiet vacuum motor (common to all models) and the overall build quality of the rest of the components. No regrets at all on this purchase.

No Wheels on Floor Head so it is extremely HARD to PUSH around even on the lowest power setting!!!
I just received my Miele Classic C1 Pure Suction Bagged...from Amazon. Used it for the first time today. It sucks up dirt very well……in fact, perhaps too well…..I found it extremely difficult to MOVE across the carpet, without wrenching my back! I stopped and checked the part that meets the floor (the floor head?), because I thought perhaps the wheels were stuck. When I examined it, there were NO wheels at all! No wonder it is so hard to move across the floor! I had to move the suction power down to the lowest possible setting in order to move it across the carpet….at all! When I moved the suction to the highest power, it lifted my carpet up off the floor!....and it was IMPOSSIBLE to move it AT ALL! What is going on??? 20 years ago I had a canister Miele, and I loved it. There were NO issues like I am having today. What is going on??? I was fully prepared to LOVE my new Miele vacuum cleaner, but if no one responds to this email with practical solutions……I will be returning it, PRONTO! UPDATE a day later, I searched for Miele Floor Heads, and found that there is a floor head that has wheels, but it costs and additional $130!!! The vacuum itself costs about $300. But the TURBO floor head costs an additional $130??? So in reality this vacuum costs $420. Plus I read the reviews of the Miele Turbo Floor Head, and apparently it is extremely difficult to CLEAN to get the hair off the rollers.....things like hidden screws underneath the wheels, stuff like that. Really bad reviews. On the "plus" side: it has Excellent suction power.....but I can't use the storngest or even the medium setting, I can only use the lowest setting or the floor head gets stuck to the floor and I can't move it all until I turn the power off. Another "plus" it is very, very quiet when it is running, which is nice. Some of these cheap vacuums sound like an outdoor lawn mower! That was the cheapest Bissell that I tried, and took back because it stopped working after 1 use. I'm really having trouble finding a solution here, without costing an arm and a leg.

STRONG and NOTICABLE suction!
Finally a vacuum that actually sucks in a good way!!! This vacuum provides a STRONG suction for tiled and hardwood floors and has the versatility to go over carpets or rugs. I love this vacuum so freaking much!! It cleans up all the crumbs from our bird's pellets and shredded toys that we have to vacuum every other day. It's truly the best vacuum I've ever owned!
