will it work on a microsoft surface laptop 3? the vents are on the back

I usually place these 2 circular pads an inch or two from the rear of my computer, but I don’t have vents underneath. The pads are small - 1.5 inches and don’t attach.

Isn't bad having magnets to use it close to the laptop?

Any brought since yes. Magnets are not good around the hard drive. With the transition to solid-state hard drives, it lessens the impact. Moreover, the magnets are on the bottom of. The pads, and did not interfere with the computer. I have been using mine for nearly a year without incident.

Can you remove the magnets?

Yes, infact one of mine pops out on its own and sticks to the other one all the time. They come out pretty easily.
