Q: What is the lifespan of these connectors?

Usally my hoses gets holes before the connectors give out.

Q: Are these water tight?

I bought this pack from Harbor Freight specifically to use for water lines at residential pressure levels (my home is 90-120psi), and the connection was water tight for me.

Q: Can these handle air and steam?

I do not know if they will handle steam. I bought them for use with an air compressor -up to 300 psi. I have had no problems with them. Make sure to use teflon tape on any threaded connections.
