TECHNICAL PRODUCTS No. 15 Rubber Plug for 4 Inch Pipe

Needed this to stop water from entering my pond filter while I cleaned it. Fit in the pipe snugly, even before tightening the screw, which was awesome, because the pipe is vertical and I didn't have to worry about it slipping in. Once in place, I just tightened the screw. It blocked all the water. Not even a trickle. Love when i order something and it works as expected.

Replaced an old rubber plug that wasn't sealing tight with this one and it worked great!

This is a great product but would be perfect if the wing nut was metal or came with a nut and lock washer option.

Had a unused clay pipe joint in my 120yr old house that they just covered with dirt. Slid right in and a tight turn and it is not moving or leaking. Choose this one as the other plugs are to big as this clay pipe was around 3.8 inches.

I'm only commenting to explain why this plug has or uses a Nylon wing nut, IMHO. The Nylon nuts stops water from entering the plug through the bolt itself. Using metal nuts as one person here did will work but if the water had any pressure behind it it might spring a leak of sorts. IMHO! A person can buy a metal washer that has a rubber center to prevent such leaks at most decent hardware store. Good luck.

This is a perfectly good pipe plug but for one issue - which makes it useless without a change. The hard plastic (maybe nylon) wing nut is not strong enough to seriously tighten the plug in the end of a pipe. I replaced it with a pair of steel nuts. They act as jam nuts and are tightened with a wrench. For those of you who don't have a stash of nuts and bolts in your basement, you'll have to go to the hardware store for two 1/4-20 hex nuts. Or you could use one nut and a lock washer. Either way would work.
