Works if benzocaine (active ingredient) works for you
I have used this product for years. Before I discovered it, every time I got waxed I seriously considered whether or not I wanted to torture myself like this. I have very sensitive skin and bad defects in the skin from scars and stretch marks. After using it, the pain is significantly reduced. I put it on 30 minutes before, then another application right before, then wipe it off. If I do not wipe it off thoroughly it does interfere with wax adherence. If I am getting waxed instead of waxing myself, I just inform the aesthetician that I have used a numbing cream, and am not suffering from any sort of medical issue. I do have to make sure the hair is trimmed to a reasonable length, no longer than 1/4 inch, or it will still be painful. I find this lasts at full effectiveness for me about 30 minutes, so if I am getting legs and Brazilian I have them do the Brazilian first. The bottle is smaller than I would like, but this has also been the most effective for me. The active ingredient in this is similar to lidocaine, so if topical lidocaine like in Bikini Zone or first aid cream works for you, this may as well. If it does not, keep trying until you find something. Itโs worth it. For me personally, all of the -caine type topical anesthetics work well, for a very limited time. For reference I have Scandinavian type skin and hair.

Didn't numb my skin at all
Maybe it was just me and other people really did have more luck, but this didn't numb my skin at all. I've waxed many times and i'm pretty used to the pain by now, except for my legs. Used this on a test area on my arm where i'd pluck hair, still felt the same amount of pain. Then I used it for real on my leg, no difference at all. Save your money! Take ibuprofen or another pain reliever and just wait about 30-45 minutes for it to take affect. It doesn't completely make the pain go away, but it helps a little and it does a lot better than this cream.

Yes, it really does help!
The most potent numbing cream on the US market! 20% is crazy work, but it is effective! I would imagine it would work for tattoos though I used it for waxing. It's thick, so it stays put after application, even if you're up and moving around. It did not irritate my skin, which surprised me because I have sensitive skin. No discernible scent. I will definitely use this again if I go too long between sessions. Did it make a full Brazilian painless? No. Did I expect it to? No. But it certainly reduced the pain that comes along with your first session or going too long between sessions. If Amazon sells a cheat code to waxing, why feel like Steve Carrell in the 40-year-old Virgin??

Definitely took the edge off
I hate shaving in winter. You get done, everything looks fantastic, then you walk out the door and BAM! Your legs look like Sasquatch's pits TWELVE FRIGGIN' MINUTES after you just shaved them. So I decided to grow a pair of ovaries and epilate this winter. I'll be honest with you - I am not the type of person who can handle pain. Maybe my brain doesn't have that part installed. Whatev's. I cannot wax without some kind of pain relief. Since my doctor would not put me under twilight anesthesia, I purchased the No Scream Cream for the hair removal. Now, let's be reasonable. No force on Earth is going to remove the pain from waxing or epilating. You're tearing hair out by the roots from the layers of epidermis BELOW the top layer, which is where you would be applying this cream to. I noticed a reduction of approximately forty percent-enough to get my legs completely hair-free, though I might have invented a few new curse words in the process. It made the process bearable. For that, I give it four stars. I would have given it five, but I felt that $20 for an ounce of this stuff was too much. It was vastly oversold. For what it's worth. Your mileage may vary. Individual pain thresholds tend to do that. If you're a wuss, this might help you make it through a waxin'. If you're a complete BAMF, you should be good to roll. Then again, you probably wouldn't need a topical anesthetic in the first place.

I figured it out now
It didn't work for me at first and I wasn't going to try again but after watching a few videos of women who used it I gave it another try. So, what I did was apply it and wait one hour, then applied the rest of the tube (I did brazilian wax so it took the whole thing) and waited for about 40 more minutes, I could wait more but I didn't have the patience. After applying it twice I felt the difference, I still felt some pain but not as bad as without the product. I think I'm starting to like the product but it's pretty time consuming so make sure you have enough time to do the whole process, from numbing to waxing, etc.

BUY IT NOW, Don't miss out on a (mostly) pain free wax!
THIS CREAM SAVES LIVES! In all seriousness, everyone knows getting a Brazilian bikini wax is horrifying. It's a painful process, but necessary for all the thick-haired ladies out there. I bought this product after reading every review, good and bad, and hoped for the best. I was so afraid that I would be one of the women who the cream did not work for. That was not the case AT ALL! This stuff works, but you have to put a lot on. It's a small tube, and I will be lucky to get three waxes out of it. I put a THICK layer on 45 minutes before my appointment time, then reapplied in my more sensitive areas 20 minutes before. 5 minutes before my appointment, I went in side and wiped it off in the bathroom (it is somewhat messy, so I wore a dress and nixed the underwear!). Now, don't think that you won't feel a thing using it, because that is not the case. You'll feel some, but it is MUCH more tolerable. I would say it takes the pain from a "I don't think I will survive to the end" to a "oh wow I'm surprised at how little that hurt." Moral of the story: BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! I do believe that it is worth mentioning that you'll get the most out of your wax if you have 1. A skilled and knowledgeable wax specialist. My first time, I don't believe my wax specialist did a very good job informing me about good post-wax care and actually performing the procedure. I recommend asking around to find the right person for the job. 2. Use a soap in that general area that your wax specialist recommends. I had been using the pink Dove bar of soap and apparently that leaves a film that can get in your hair follicle and make your follicle thicker, making waxing more painful. 3. EXFOLIATE. Ask your wax specialist to recommend type of exfoliator to remove dead skin. This will also make your wax much more tolerable.

Damaged my skin -- DO NOT BUY
Does not work at all! I followed all the directions although I was unclear on how it would absorb into skin that has been prepared for waxing (too much hair). I put it on 45 mins in advance, did not rub it in. Felt some tingling in the beginning, so I thought that was promising. Went to my wax appointment, and IT HURT EVEN MORE THAN USUAL. I've been getting waxes for two years now. I thought I would try something like this to reduce the pain, which isn't excruciating, just inconvenient. But this made it hurt even more. And, on top of that, my skin was waaaaay more sensitive and now I have some damaged areas that bleed when touched and its now three days post-wax.That has never happened before, and this useless cream is the only new variable. I have asked for a refund, and never want to see this crap again.

I did enjoy the results
Reading the reviews, they appear neutral - some say it worked, others say it did not. I was unsure, but I thought it is definitely worth a try! I followed the directions carefully. I also decided to do an experiment on some areas, so I applied double layer on some skin. I was honestly excited; finally finding a product that will help me experience some degree of less pain. However, to be honest, it did not have an effect on me. Unfortunately, I still felt every bit of agony as my hair follicles were being ripped out of their root... I did enjoy the results, of course. I am also considering of going back for a wax in the near future.. just extremely nervous about the pain.. it is 45 minutes of torture! I am hoping to find another product, cause this did not work on me. For those that it did work, that's wonderful for them. I hope I find a product that will work for me as well.

It doesn't work well
It didn't really work on my skin. I tried it several times still no luck! They give you free samples of products in the package, which shows great service. Overall, it's not something I would purchase again

this cream is amazing - highly recommend
this cream is amazing - highly recommend! waxing still isn't pleasant, but nowhere near as awful as it is without this cream. the one downside is that the shipping costs are equal or more (I forget) than the cost of the product, which doesn't make sense - but still worth it. I would buy more if the shipping costs were more reasonable.

Terrible First Impression
When I opened the package I was extremely disappointed. First of all, this product is expired. On the label it says expiry 03/12. Being that there is active medication in this product I feel that this is extremely unacceptable. Secondly, the product has clearly been used, there is dried up cream on the outside of the package and therefore I am not receiving the amount that was paid for. Finally, the packaging came extremely dirty, actual dirt was present on the tube of cream.
