Good for hiking but NEED TO BE WATERPROOF!
Germany was where some of the first compression socks were developed (Jobst, Juzo; the "J" sounds like "Y"). I worked at a job that focused on Germanic Studies, fascinating. German engineering is very reliable but I find it can also be kind of "one track." Hence, my remark in my headline about waterproof. You may retort that if one swims then socks are not necessary. I live in Texas. Here and many other places we participate in water sports & recreation that involve NOT having our legs submerged all the time like rubber rafting, casually floating on rivers using old truck inner tubes (& drinking beer, prost!), & lots of boating either motorized or not. Thus, having waterproof socks or sock designed for water sports where lots of swimming is not involved really need to be designed and produce. There are MANY Texas Germans. I invite you to come here the Texas German Dialect someday.

Excellent and worth paying a premium
Other brands of compression stockings may be less expensive but these are the very best. You can actually feel the compression and they are sturdy and can be laundered without losing compression. They are also good looking and they don't look like they came from a hospital supply store! They also last a long time and the various colors are subtle and look like regular socks.

Work as adverised
My husband wears this in the 20-30 mmHg. He used to wear the stronger pair, 30-40. These are great for looking more like a traditional athletic sock, and he prefers them to the standard compression socks. They basically look like regular sport socks. They only down side is the seam at the top wears quickly. There is a fold at the top and it's stitched there, and the thread comes out within a few months. Also, the bottoms seem to wear thin quickly, but if you are looking for compression socks that don't make you feel like you are a senior citizen, these are for you (not that there is anything wrong with senior citizen status, but if you are twenty years from it, you prefer to look a little more like you are wearing regular socks...)

I was very uncomfortable and when I wore the support nylons my legs felt better but my attitude was not good
I work as a medical assistant and stand from 8 to 10 hours a day. I don't know how I ever survived before these athletic support stockings! Well I do know , I was very uncomfortable and when I wore the support nylons my legs felt better but my attitude was not good. I hated the way the nylons felt in my Ladik shoes even the toeless . I buy these all the time and love the price I found on Amazon!

Strong compression
Price offered was quite a bit lower than that in the retail store. These stockings work great with hiking boots, and despite the thick material, are not too hot for summertime wear. The 30-40 mmHg compression is quite a bit more noticeable than the 20-30 mmHg version of this product that I also have. They provide more efficient support but are much harder to put on than the 20-30 mmHg stockings.

It is fine doing today because I am constantly moving
Compared to the other brands, I thought the price was a bit expensive. However, The results were OK with the exception of the foot up to sock. There doesn't seem to be any compression there and it allows the blood flow to pull in that area. It is fine doing today because I am constantly moving. In order to combat that problem I have to keep my feet elevated at night .
