Ordered this maintenance kit for my Stihl FS40C Weed Trimmer to get it ready for summer mowing / trimming season. It was compatible with my model with no issues. Before installing the kit, it would take several pulls to start and now it starts up on the first pull. It was also very easy to install and I only needed a few tools pictured. The spark plug was also gapped properly and ready to install. The kit includes an air filter, spark plug and gas filter.

I have a Stihl trimmer model FS-56 and edger model FC-56. I believe the model differences is mainly to designate the tool's purpose as both engines look identical and use the same service components. Stihl wants $20 for the same components in this kit and I would have to drive 34 miles round trip to get it as they are not available online. This brings me to the Harbot kit. The kit came with everything the Stihl kit has at half the price. The spark plug came correctly pre-gapped. However, being loose in the box with nothing to protect the electrode left it susceptible to the gap changing during shipping, so always confirm this setting before installation. The fuel filter appears identical to the Stihl and was swapped out with no issue. The air filter is where there is a trade-off for the lower cost and convenience of online availability. First it is about 10% thinner than the Stihl filter. Second the hole in the middle is much smaller and overall size of the filter larger. Bottom line is it will not fit out-of-the-box. To address this, I used a 3/8" bit and drilled out the center hole. This provided for a nice snug fit around the center post. I inserted the shaft of the same bit into the holes of both the old and new filter. Using a sharp scissors and the old filter as a pattern, I trimmed the new one to the proper size which solved the size problem. Once everything was replaced, I filled the tools with a fresh batch of mixed fuel. Both tools started, idled and revved normally even after about 5-minutes of running. I have not had a chance to use the tools at length so it remains to be seen if they continue to perform properly. If there are any issues, I will post them. Right now I am not certain if I will re-buy this kit. Although not hard to modify, I would much rather not have to do that.
