Aurora AS810SD 8-Sheet Strip-Cut Paper, CD and Credit Card Shredder Basket

Great addition to the home office.

In our house we have something referred to as "cardboard mountain." I am a bulk shopper and also frequently buy things online. This influx of cardboard is far more than our normal recycling bin can handle on a weekly basis so the excess cardboard began getting stacked one day in the corner next to our kitchen garbage. The mountain grew bigger and taller each week over the past year or so despite my best efforts. Recently I saw someone on Facebook post about using this shredder to break down their cardboard. I took a chance and bought one because any way to remove that heap of recyclable eyesores would be a game changer. The day it arrived I was so excited! A shredder is a silly thing to be excited about but I had hated cardboard mountain for so long. I fired it up and sure enough, it ripped through the cardboard!! It can eat through most normal boxes/Amazon/etc. with easy, including the very package it came in! Heavy duty boxes not so much, but that's ok by me. It runs for about 15-20min at a time before needing to cool down which is plenty in normal circumstances (took quite a few goes to chew through the whole mountain) and its fairly easy to cut boxes down to the width of the opening. This shredder has given me the corner of my kitchen back and I no longer worry about guests looking at the looming stack of boxes representing my many many online purchases. I've tried recommending it to friends and it seems they don't share my problem, but hopefully someone here does. It's truly an excellent little device and for the price point, I'm happy with it regardless of how long it ends up lasting.

Product does exactly what it is advertised to do. Yes, it cuts paper into strips, not confetti--just as it's name promises. For my purposes--shredding credit card offers, bank statements, and other documents with personal information--strip cuts are just fine. There are much easier pickings out there for identity thieves. Probably not sufficient for those under surveillance by the FTC or FBI. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is that it struggles to shred 8 sheets of paper at a time if they aren't exactly aligned and inserted at a perfectly straight angle. A more accurate maximum would be 6 sheets of paper. Still, this is a minor complaint for me. I shredded more than 2 years of old papers in two evenings, and the shredder only overheated and shut down once each evening. After allowing it to cool for a few minutes (as the directions say to) it resumed functioning with no problems. Credit cards presented no problem. Didn't try the CD shredder. I would caution parents of young children that while it would be pretty difficult to get tiny fingers into the top, a small child would definitely be able to touch the sharp blades of the CD shredder from the underside. So, keeping the product out of reach of young kids would be advisable (but really, when would allowing a child to get near a paper shredder ever be a good idea?)

I am very happy with Aurora shedder mach. It does exactly what it says. Run for 15 minutes ( maybe a little more ) and cooling time 2 minutes. And strip cut doesn't jam, much better than cris cut. I don't know how I didn't see the Aurora when I purchased the Woolschen which is a NIGHTMARE. Jam all the time, only runs for 5 minutes and 30 minutes waiting time to cool off. So stressful that I didn't return , I dumped it in the garbage. Do not recommend cris cut.

I'm very happy with this inexpensive but well-made shredder. I chose a strip-cut shredder to shred phone books, junk mail, and magazines for starting fires in my fireplace. It's faster than I expected. It can shred groups of phone book pages as quickly as I can tear them out. I used it heavily over the winter to shred the equivalent of about a 2-foot-high stack of paper. It's still running perfectly. The motor has thermal protection: if it overheats, it stops running until it cools down. Being run continuously, it can fill its basket twice before overheating and stopping. I have a few minor criticisms: It often doesn't fully eject the paper, so you have to pull the last strips out by hand before emptying the basket. There's a single sensor in the middle of the slot, so when shredding narrow items, sometimes it stops and you have to press the manual run button. It would be nicer if the basket were clear so you could see how full it is. The slot is only 8.75 inches wide, so some larger mailings have to be folded to be shred. I wish it were just an inch wider.

This is a great shredder. Sturdy and shreds quickly but it is a little loud. I’ve never had a shredder that was quiet though. I put 3 sheets of paper at a time to avoid jamming. It fits nicely in my closet while not in use.

Great buy. Grab it before its out of stock. I did couple of searches for a good Shreder and found that all of them with all shredding capabilities are almost for 50 bucks. I found this and read all the reviews and got this product. Am using this since couple of months and found it great with No trouble at all. Adavantages: 1] Shreds almost 8 to 10 pages simultaneously. 2] Also easily shreds unopened envelops which contains the dummy plastic credit cards. 3] Shreds CD/DVD into 4 to 6 pieces. One at a time. 4] Shreds Credit Cards. One at a time. 5] Shreds Stapled bunch of papers. 6] All this for a price 29.99 bucks is a WORTH. Cons: 1] CD/DVD is cut into couple of pieces. So if its your personal CD/DVD you might need to shred the shreded peices too. 2] Same goes with important credit cards. 3] But no worries its just an extra additional one time effort. Grab it :). Overall its awesome and I found no real cons. in it. Its a shredder with all features at a price of only paper shredder from many other brands. Now my brother is using this shredder and it is still working fine but these days AmazonBasics shredder are looking good for the price. ok, so I bought this mainly to shred my cds from high school. I had a bunch of stuff stored with random junk on them that I wanted gone. Anyways, it shreds in both parts. The one side just breaks them, but the other side shreds them lol. it looks funny to see a shredded cd :D Anyways, I had problems figuring out the cd part at first. I didn't know you had to push the button and then hold it even after it's done because sometimes the pieces get caught in the bottom and it just needs a little extra to get those out. That's why i just used the shredder on it at first. lol. Anyways, I have tried up to 6 pieces of paper on it so far at the same time, and it can probably do a little more. Like 12. Actually, I put a catalog in it and it done the catalog :D All those pamphlet I had from old work places it done those too including my WalMart Debit Card from back to when I worked at WalMart :D The only problem I have with it is sometimes I will switch the thing to reverse and it goes the other way creating a mess for me :( I didn't deduct stars from it though because that is more of my problem. Actually, I wish that I had bought one with a bigger case because the tub doesn't hold much for me. I bought the little one though because I just wanted it in my room and thought I didn't require a bigger one. I guess I was wrong :( Anyways it works great though :D I assume after I shred all my other papers and just shred what comes in the mail it will be ok. LoL i guess it depends on the thickness of the magazine. I just tried to shred a thick magazine and it didn't take it lol :) oh well. Those aren't really important. Oh ya, and it doesn't do coupons. Well it kinda does, but doesn't. Update: The cd shredder is annoying. Every time I shred a cd it gets stuck in the gears or a piece gets stuck in the gear and I have to go in with tweezers to get it :( The trash can is so small, that by the time I have started on my stuff it's half-way filled and after it gets half-way you basically have to change it because the paper gets stuck or jammed in the shredder part :(

Muy buen producto y llegó a tiempo. No tengo queja y para lo que dicen que ojalá y el bote fuera más grande entonces no sería apto para oficina y costaría más. Es cómodo para mover y funciona muy bien. Se puede adecuar a otro botes más grandes, trae como un extensor.
