I may not really NEED this versatility, and it may be a tad cumbersome for frequent use, but I got what I wanted when I bought it. This thing has hundreds of reviews and all I can contribute is that I got a good copy that works great.

very clear and relatively fast zoom.. great quality will definitely be buying more Sigma products... it i everything it was shown to be..

A very good product for the price you paid!

Having had this lens for a few years, now I can tell you it is a terrific deal for the price. Mostly used for wildlife, I recommend, a good sturdy tripod. I find, the auto focus to be sharp and fast. Many shots I have taken using center focus, panning and continuous shooting mode, while shooting birds in flight. On a sunny day, with high shutter speeds, you can shoot some award-winning photos. Low light conditions or, handheld at over 300mm would be a different story. But, you won't find a lens that out performs this one, without spending a few thousand dollars more.

I bought this lens from another company 6 years ago and I still love it. It takes great photos, very crisp and clear. I use it for a lot of the sky events, esp. the Moon and get great shots.

Je ne m'attendais pas à autant de qualité et d'efficacité. Le piqué est tout simplement très correct pour ne pas dire excellent. L'autofocus ultrasonique est un vrai bonheur, rapide et précis. Après une heure ou deux de prise en main, je réussissais des photos très satisfaisantes. Le poids ? Ben oui, c'est une habitude à prendre. Je l'utilise (presque) toujours à main-levée et il est conseillé dans ce cas-là, d'avoir un sac ventral où l'appareil peut reposer entre deux prises. Mais comme le stabilisateur est très efficace, cela me permet d'avoir les photos que je souhaitais faire. Je le conseille vivement. Pour un zoom aussi puissant, passer de 50 à 500 d'un geste est tout simplement un rêve, surtout dans l'animalier où il n'est pas conseillé de trop bouger pour choisir son cadrage.

Very very good quality lens. Good for macro shots as well as distance. The anti-shake function works well. Heavy, but not overly cumbersome in use with a K-5. Recommended especially because the range from 50-500 supports not having to change lenses too often. Love it.

I wish I'd got one of these years ago, but it's the usual story of waiting 'til the price goes down. What a fantastic lens this is, crisp & clear and in good light pretty fast! I didn't expect too much hand held at full length but even with my shaky old mitts it is astounding! It is heavy but so well balanced you soon get used to it. The auto-focus struggles a little in low light but so does my 70-300. I have found the 2 stage anti-shake interesting in that the in-camera one seems marginally better but for panning shots stage 2 is a boon! It's early days yet and things may change as I get more used to the lens. Get one, you won't regret it!!
