A wonderful rollercoaster ride.
This series, I have purchased to current 4 installments and finished them in less that 24 hours, is a wonderful read. A little slow getting started and then then it doesn't stop. I am looking forward to the 5th installment and will be watching for the pre-order link. For me the best part was there are NO involved sex acenes for pages at a time! I have removed author from my preferences because they would spend up to 11 pages for sex. There is flirting and attraction, but the action and depth of the characters take to forefront, including the gargoyles. I smiled, laughed and even teared up through parts of the stories. Awesome lead character!

WHAT A FUN READ!
I really enjoyed this book! While short, it was an interesting world created by Author, Rebecca Chastain. I found this book through book bub and am really glad I decided to grab it. Right now, all three books are in Kindle Unlimited so go out and grab them as it will offset the monthly membership fees. In a book of 91 pages, you don't have time to truly flesh out characters but Ms. Chastain does a great job of getting personality traits across. I immediately loved the heroine and wanted to kill the villain myself. The kooky friend is like someone I know so she was a great addition. I automatically loved and wanted to protect the gargoyles. So, as far as emotional involvement, (a must have for 5 stars) I was hooked immediately and stopped everything I was supposed to do and read the entire book immediately. I am going to read the next two today as well. I am very enthusiastic in recommending this book to readers young and old alike. There is a good balance of action, adventure, suspense, mystery and mayhem. I thing anyone who reads "Magic of the Gargoyles" will enjoy it and will pick up 2 & 3 as well. Happy reading. KUDOS Ms. Rebecca Chastain on a tale exceptionally well told....keep writing, I'll keep reading.

Exciting and well-crafted novella that will leave you wanting more
Mika is nothing more than a mid-level earth elemental in a world that prizes full-spectrum pentacle potential (FSPP). However, she didn't let that stop her. Honing her talent with quartz until she rivaled any FSPP, she was bound and determined to work for herself. But her life changed the moment a baby gargoyle barged into her apartment, drawn by the scent of Mika's magic. Reluctantly, Mika went to help even though she was scared and out of her depth. Magic of the Gargoyles is written in first person. As such, we get an inside look into just how frightened and insecure Mika is. We also get to see how courageous she is and what she is willing to give up on the behalf of this baby gargoyle who trusts her. I will admit I have now read this novella three times. The first time had me upset as I wanted more. That will forever be my lament with good novellas. They're never long enough! I was excited to discover it grew and turned into a trilogy. I have also read most of Rebecca Chastain's books. She is a talented author. I have a single complaint about this book. There was a pile up of adjectives near the beginning and it caused me to notice more as I continued to read. Except for a few instances, they merged into the story and ceased to bother me. I highly recommend this novella to readers who enjoy fantasy. I also encourage you to read the entire Gargoyle Guardian Chronicles Trilogy. It gives you an excellent taste of Rebecca Chastain's style. If you enjoy it, feel free to continue with her entire body of work.

Avoid it.
I've read a few books and very much love the gargoyles, but I hate the amount of physical pain they are put through. The FDP explanations aren't easy to understand either. It's not a good series for people who love animals.

Unique and Exciting
The heroine of Magic of the Gargoyles, Mika, is trying to hone her skills in quartz but right in the middle of her first job, she has a baby gargoyle at her door, frantic and scared. Unsure about what is going on, Mika follows the baby into a really bad part of town only to discover powerful elementals abusing their gifts. Upon completion of her current mission, the baby gargoyle indicates that rest of of her nest has also been kidnapped and will be sold to the highest, and meanest, bidders. Mika has no choice but to intervene and hope for the best... The location of the story is pretty ambiguous - it could almost be anywhere. This allows the reader to take what descriptions are given and build their own version of the world Rebecca Chastain has created. Mika is a compassionate soul. She is working hard to complete a job that should catapult her quartz creations to the top of everyone's list of supplier. When a gargoyle in need asks for her help, she stops her current task to come to another baby's aid. Then Mika continues to push aside this monumental career maker or breaker to help rescue the remaining babies. Magic of the Gargoyles is a such a fantastic book. The plot is unique and exciting. The story line packs such a punch that you can't help but be drawn into and fully engaged in the story. The emotional content is in regards to the plight of the baby gargoyles was palpable. Mika's emotions transfer to the reader. The author did a wonderful job developing the story in the short urban fantasy novella. I'm looking forward to continuing with the series with book 2, Curse of the Gargoyles.

Fast paced action + Daring heroine + Supportive allies = Magic of the Gargoyles
One of the few times I bought an e-book without reading the blurb , even a free one, I hit jackpot. The book cover and the word 'Gargoyles' made me get it and I can say without hesitation that I haven't regretted it! The picture and the name are self explanatory. The book cover is like the story, unpretentious and solid. The plot is simple but chock-full of adventure and action, action meaning fantasy-kind action and not too much violence. We have a plucky heroine, Mika and her side kick and best friend, Kylie, and the plot of rescuing baby gargoyles from kidnappers. How Mika saves the day using her earth elemental power forms the bulk of the book. I especially liked that the story is different from other fantasy genre books and also that it's about gargoyles about whom I haven't read much. The kid gargoyles were sweet yet deadly, in their defense of Mika. The world building is detailed enough to sustain the plot and it gives a peek into Mika's world of elemental magic. I, for one, would like to read more about Mika and her cohorts. The only regret, or two, I have is that I didn't start the book as soon as I got it and that it's a novella and not a full length novel. Other than that, kudos to the author, Rebecca Chastain. I look forward to her future books. In the meantime I am going to check out her other novel, A Fistful of Evil. My rating : 5/5 My reread factor : 5/5 Floryie

A fantastic new series
I loved this book. I read this through Kindle Unlimited and enjoyed it so much I purchased it. A well written, imaginative and exciting story. The world building was excellent with a fast paced storyline. The only negative is that it isn't long enough. Highly recommend.

Magic of the Gargoyles
What a fast paced story. It catches you right away and never let's go. I had to read it all and didn't stop. It is now 5 a.m. it's a fun read with a serious criminal side. The main characters are a pleasant surprise and I loved the gargoyles. They sound sooo cute, I want one.
