A: I replaced the old Kohler cartridge with the same cartridge, and it worked perfectly.

A: Usually there is a geared ring around around the front of the stem that is spring loaded .By pulling it out and turning it will adjust the temp up and down as you turn it there are stops that limit the rotation

**Q: Do you need to apply silicone grease?**
A: No grease needed

The conical design with secure "O" rings allows for easy installation of this Kohler pressure balance cartridge with an exact fit. Be sure the clean the valve housing to ensure proper seating and prevent leaks. The mixer valve works smoothly and is compatible with a wide range of handle and trim options. Durability TBD but the original unit lasted about six years before the drips became a stream with a high-pitch whistle when water pressure varied in the house. The entire replacement process took about 30 minutes as a DIY home project.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Super easy installation.

I had a dripping shower head in my master bathroom. I wasn't able to see the Kohler name on the plate, and couldn't find any set screws to remove it from the wall. I ended up calling a plumber, assuming that I just needed to try to unscrew it from the wall and change a cartridge, but not wanting to break anything or have a water leak in the wall. The plumber said, I think it's a Kohler, and if that is the case, you don't want us to change it for you. The reason being....they charge $516 to change this particular cartridge. He said, you can easily change this on your own, you simply remove the 4 screws, pull it out, put the new one in, and tighten the screws. I ordered the part from Amazon for $47 and changed it myself in about 8 minutes. This replacement couldn't have been easier.
