Soft, shiny, and just the color I needed.
I had recently gotten my hair colored at a salon to be a dark cherry cola using a demi-permanent solution. Absolutely loved it, but I want the color to pop a bit more until the next appointment later down the line (in this economy? it’ll be a while lol). Mixing this shade - Ritual - with some conditioner (plain white kind) was just the solution I needed as a weekly helper. I just added a few good squirts down into the bottle and shook it/mixed it really well. After shampooing, I lathered it in and combed it through to get every strand, covered it with a shower cap to finish showering (left it in for maybe 10 minutes or less), and then rinsed it with cool water. I know Arctic Fox’s line of semi-permanent colors are very gentle, but it paired with the conditioner I use made it feel so silky smooth. I used to use a lot of their purple and violet shades in the past to do this same thing with platinum blonde hair to keep brassy tones at bay without always using toners with developers to minimize damage. Worked really well, so I knew this would do the trick. Just that little bit was enough to make it pop again. Love it. I’ll be grabbing another bottle in the near future to keep on hand because it’s more affordable (compared to paying for conditioners that do similar pushing double the price), smells great, and the color is lovely with just the right amount of red hues without being TOO red. I highly recommend the Ritual shade if anyone is looking for a deep wine-colored tone that stands out. NOTE: If you end up doing this type of mixture like I did as a refresher, but you go to a stylist for coloring, be sure to let them know beforehand so they’ll know you added a semi-permanent color conditioner mixture on top of it (as they often use demi). It’s obviously a vegan formula that is safe without any harsh chemicals that washes out easier where most will do their own coloring at home using this bottle and be done, but your stylist still needs to know since you’re essentially adding a stain to the hair on top of the color that they used that penetrated the hair cuticle using demi-permanent dyes. That way if you ever want to change your color up or even refreshen everything and do root touch ups, they’ll know exactly what needs to be done to get you that color by knowing what is put on the hair.

I like
Ok so here’s some pics. (I dyed this over very faded Arctic Fox “Virgin Pink” and did not dye the top of my head) The first one is the day I did it; the second is the day after (both in the sun). You can see it somehow manages to be both warm red and cool purple at the same time. Confusing... it honestly was a bit more cool-toned purple than I was hoping for, but not too bad. The third and fourth pics are a week after, both in regular inside light (daytime), and then under a bright “happy light”. Fifth picture is 2 weeks later, and sixth and seventh are 3 weeks later (inside and then in the car under the sun). This has actually probably become my favorite color (second to my natural color). I have a warm complexion, with a deeper tone, and I like the way the dark burgundy goes with it. My eyes are light yellow-amber with a small hint of green, and I think that the color could stand to be less purple (like I mentioned) to really go with my eyes, but it doesn’t look too off. The color has lasted pretty well for me, but I only wash my hair two to three times a month, and when I say “wash” I mean rinse with water (I don’t use shampoo). So naturally it will last longer on me than someone who is washing it multiple times a week. The only thing I don’t like is the scent. Artificial fragrances bother me, and it’s a strong smell. Also your hair will smell like it perpetually. But, it didn’t give me a headache or anything, so that’s good. Also, after dying I rinsed this for a LONG time and the water still didn’t run clear. Eventually I decided to just let it be, and it continues to rinse pink every time I wash it (I think I have two times so far). I didn’t have that experience with the Virgin Pink color, but it’s not really a bother. Both this color and Virgin Pink stained the collars of my shirts and coats though... so be prepared. I’d hope the color would eventually come out in the wash? One last important note is that I put the dye on at night, put a cap on, and slept with it. The very first time I used Arctic Fox (the Virgin Pink) I didn’t do that and only left it on a little over two hours. It faded really fast that time, so the next time (still Virgin Pink) I left it overnight and it was a lot better. So I do that now.

It's a good product, better for lighter hiar
It works good, I think it's better for light brown-blonde hair just because it will show better but I have used arctic fox hair dye at least about five times and I had a dark brown hair it worked fine just wasn't very vibrant, I would definitely dye it though good hair dye and it lasts long! (The photos I put were a before and after of this hair dye)

Color Payoff, but Fades Faster Than Expected
I purchased Ritual and used it over my naturally black hair that I had highlighted first. The color came out beautifully — vivid and really well-saturated. I had heard that Arctic Fox is known for long-lasting color, so I had high hopes. However, since I wash my hair every day, I noticed the color bleeding in the shower for the first two to three days. After that the bleeding stopped, but by the end of the week the color had faded quite noticeably. That said, it doesn’t damage my hair at all, and the scent is absolutely lovely. I’m genuinely enjoying using it, and I’m looking forward to trying other shades and mixing colors in the future!

Not sulter long lasting
Love the color. Doesn't last a super long time but it's not terrible. Really depends on your hair type.

Vibrant color for a week with tub/linen stains that last forever.
I bought the color "Ritual" and loved the color. I have black curly hair and usually colors don't show up well on mine. This time I decided to bleach my hair first and then dye it a week later for dramatic effect. It was my first time using this dye. I like how it's a direct dye and I didn't need developer or anything else. I kept it on a full hour with a shower cap. As other reviews have said, be careful to wear gloves and cover any surfaces you don't want to get stained with dye. In that way it's pretty powerful. The color looked good and showed up on my hair nicely, especially because my hair was lightened prior. I want to emphasize that the dye will stain most surfaces easily. Please be careful to wash your hair in a stainless steel sink or something that the dye won't penetrate so easily. I rinsed my hair in the sink u til it ran clear. I completely dried my hair and was able to sleep without staining my pillow (as instructions mentioned). The next day I washed my hair with shampoo/conditioner in the stainless sink again and was surprised how much more dye came out. Again I rinsed the shampoo and conditioner out until the water ran clear. I was satisfied I would be able to wash my hair in the shower without staining it for future washes. I was wrong. More dye continued to come off every time I showered and stained everything. I would completely dry my hair before laying down to avoid staining pillows and sheets. Days later I washed my face when my hair was dry and I got a little piece of hair wet. I didn't notice it at the time and went to bed. I woke up with my pillow and sheets stained. It's been about 6 days since I dyed my hair and it continues to come off every time I shower continuously staining my tub even more. It's not like a typical dye that eventually stops coming off after shampooing your hair several times. My color is also mostly gone now. It seems every time I wash, the dye that I'm seeing coming out is coming right off my hair. I believe it'll all be completely gone in less than two weeks. I'm giving the dye 3 stars for being a pretty color and ease of using it. I subtracted 2 stars because I've never had dye stain my tub or linen and I'm a henna user! I'm super careful about making sure the bulk of the dye/color has fully absorbed into my hair before moving to the shower and fully drying my hair before laying down to avoid staining linen. I did all that this time and it still ruined everything. It was extremely short lasting for my type. I have darkest black hair with type C curls. I've ordered some barkeepers friend and I hope that removes most of the stain in my tub. I think the linen is cooked.

My new go-to hair color!
After breast cancer I began scrutinizing the products I was using. I had already swapped to cruelty-free, but also wanted to ditch some of the other chemical ingredients in products that were on the suspect list. When I found out the products in my salon were NOT cruelty-free, I began looking for in-home alternatives. The search led me to Arctic Fox, which got rave reviews on Youtube almost across the board. After my first use of Arctic Fox (Ritual...was going for a burgundy color), I am wholeheartedly in the Arctic Fox fan camp! First, it smells yummy...like the grape bubblegum I chewed as a kid. Application was easy; I don’t have a lot of hair so my only tools were Burt’s Bees baby ointment in place of petroleum (love the Burt’s Bees too but that’s another review😉), surgical gloves, a plastic hair cap, old black sweatshirt and some old dark towels. I applied directly from the bottle onto the gloves then saturated my hair a section at a time. The gloves rinsed off easily with little residual staining, and there was no residual staining at all on my off-white sink (though I had a spray bottle of alcohol standing by). I followed the directions of blow-drying for 15 minutes then left on another 45. After rinsing and drying the result was a deep auburn with burgundy streaks (my hair was a 5-6 on the color chart...medium brown...with a few blonde highlights), as you may be able to see in the picture. The product made my hair quite shiny, and very soft. While I’m only on day 2 and cannot speak to lasting power yet, I will say there was no discernible transfer of product onto my skin (except ear tips which I did not cover with gel but will next time), just a tiny bit on the scalp, and none whatever on my clothes or pillowcase. Arctic Fox is a keeper! I think next time I will be daring & try purple! Addendum: washing every other day in cool water with color-safe shampoo, the Arctic Fox color lasted about 2 1/2 weeks for me, and faded gracefully.

Works wonders.
Fantastic temporary dye. The colour is vibrant and washes out slowly after a few months. My daughter had dark brown hair and this still came through beautifully.
