This is the little iron that could!I was in the market for a new iron after my Rowenta finally bit the dust. As a sewist, I iron seams and finished garments constantly, so I need an iron that offers precise control over both temperature and steam—but I wasn’t willing to shell out nearly $200 for one. This classic Black & Decker iron does everything I need for under $40, and I absolutely adore it. I actually look forward to using it every time I sew!It heats up quickly and features an automatic shut-off if left unattended (a must for peace of mind), and it glides through fabrics with ease. It switches temperatures quickly and the steam shut-off button works instantly—especially helpful when working with fusible interfacing or adhesives where you don’t want steam.While this iron isn’t huge (my previous iron was larger), I wouldn’t call it small either—it’s definitely not travel-sized. It’s the perfect size for everyday ironing or serious sewing projects.One of my favorite things about it is the look. The retro, mid-century design is so aesthetically pleasing—it feels like you're joining generations of home sewists who’ve relied on this classic iron. In fact, I’m pretty sure I used a circa 1979 version of this same model growing up; my dad’s old college iron ended up in our camping supplies and worked perfectly 30+ years later!One thing to note: This is not a lightweight iron. While I wouldn’t call it heavy, those specifically looking for something lightweight may want to look elsewhere. Personally, I love the weight. It presses seams effortlessly with minimal pressure—exactly what I want in a sewing iron. The first time I used it, I literally said out loud, “Now this is what an iron should be.”That said, if a heavier iron might be difficult for you to maneuver (for example, if you’ve lost upper body strength or simply prefer something more compact), this may not be the best fit. My grandmothers, for instance, would probably find it cumbersome. But for me? It’s perfect.

I think I tried every iron out there. I got sick of having wet clothes with so much steam and no way of ironing to dry the fabric out. Then I remembered my mom's old iron and what a pleasure it was ironing with it. With modern irons once you turn off the steam the iron isn't as hot. Not with this iron, it irons beautifully wet or dry. Its heavy, but you don't have to press hard to iron. Its smaller, but it gets in the corners better.

Finally I threw away my old iron that wss still working after 20 years and purchased this iron.I like the heaviness and the shape of this iron, which seems old-fashioned to my liking. Heavy irons are easy to work with for me. No need to press down - just glide. The temperature control is easy to adjust and the steam works constantly well without dripping water on clothes while ironing.At first filling the water, I was worried about the water filling hole in front that has no cover, but it wasn’t a problem at all. Rather, I wish it showed the water level clearly. Not a problem if I need to fill just a little amount of water, but it is difficult to fill the water full without spilling. Maybe I should’ve measured the amount of water more carefully. And it would’ve been nice to come with a plastic beaker like my old iron. I wish I’d kept the beaker when I got rid of my old iron. And the obtuse shape might not be ideal for some delicate or sharp corners.All in all, if it continues to work for a long time like my old one, I’d be happy with this iron.

Great iron, works well. REALLY HEAVY. I have wrist tendinitis and it's just not for me. Will be kept as a back up dry iron but overall, ouch! And I kept burning myself but that's probably user error...

This iron is fantastic. I was needing to replace my Rowena that I loved and thought I would be spending a lot of money to do so. I am a quilter and ironing seams flat and crisp is necessary for accuracy. I wanted an iron with a pointed end and wasn’t sure about this iron not having that. But the iron is heavy and I get get open flat seams without any effort. This is what I remember an iron to be. It’s a great price for a wonderful product.

I bought this iron several years ago, and it has since worn out. I was so happy to see it available on Amazon. This is my favorite iron. Easy to use, nothing fancy about it. I'm very happy with my purchase.

If you want a basic iron, that has some weight to it, that works extremely well, heats up quickly but also shuts itself off when not used in a certain time frame, then this little Black & Decker iron is for you.This is the second one I've purchased. Ive tried the more expensive brands but they can't compare to the smooth glide over all fabric types of this little gem.This a no frills iron, but it has all the necessary components (steam, different settings, an ample cord) and it gets the job done.When this one cease to handle the job, I will purchase another one.Excellent value for the money !!!

La he visto en generaciones y yo y mi casa no vamos a hacer la excepción, es pesada pero te facilita la presión para pasarla tiene el calor y el vapor perfecto simplemente la mejor plancha aparte que no tengo que decir que es para toda la vida.
