Kalki was the pen name of R. Krishnamurthy (September 9, 1899 to December 5, 1954), a noted Tamil writer, film & music critic, Indian independence activist and journalist from Tamil Nadu, India. Krishnamurthy's first attempt at writing fiction also came during that period. In 1923 he became a sub-editor on Navasakthi, a Tamil periodical edited by Tamil scholar and freedom fighter V. Kalyanasundaram, known as Thiru Vi. Ka. Krishnamurthy's first book was published in 1927.In 1941 he left Ananda Vikatan and rejoined the freedom struggle and courted arrest. On his release after three months he and Sadasivam started the weekly, Kalki. He was its editor until his death on December 5, 1954. In 1956, he was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award posthumously for his novel Alai Osai. Review: great epic - Sivagamiyin Sabathan Kalkiyin great creation. Sivagamiyin Sabathan Kalkiyin great creation. I read it about 75 years ago when I was in high school. I might have read it ten times since then. Still it was excellent to read.

She is too thick...
What I really liked about this book is the story otherwise, this book was a pain to hold. It's as big as holding 5 books at the same time. So if you were to get this book, get an ebook and put this book on the shelf for show. The shipping is not worth it! :(

Excellent work
Superb writing, the writing style was simply amazing. The story will make you feel like it all happened as like this, as it all was merged with real people and most importantly when the book was written more than 70 years ago, the author has known all the characters individually and their own history. Nowadays, it was easy with Internet and wiki, but before 70 years it really needs a lot of reading and ground work as to know all the characters life history. Knowing every one's life history and their own words, sayings, and songs and merging and blending in the right areas is simply outstanding. Knowing the characters individual life history will also surprise you how accurately he merged those characters in his book. A must read...
