in a word "Practically Perfect"
Ok, Ok... So two words. So this is my second TOTO toilet seat in 11 years on this toilet and I have 4 TOTO toilets with this seat. The closer work as intended for the life of the seat. and non have physically broken in this 11 to 12 year time. These are Easy to install and dont move around on the bowl like some. I dont recall ever having to re-tighten them down to the bowl, Which is either a credit to the seat or a discredit to my memory. Could be one or both. Fits perfectly aligned to the bowl and the hinges dont flex like some so the seat does not slide off of the bowl when I squirm around like some (if not most) do. It cleans up easy as well. My mom has had 2 Store Brand seats with closures that fell apart after a few short years, albeit were 20 dollars cheaper ..ahh... Less money per seat than these. To be more accurately portrayed. Now for the Bad: the lid is Hard plastic and the seat appears to be hard plastic as well, but after some years of peoples rings impeding across the surface, they get scratched, as well as where the lid has the 2 stops. When they scratch they sort of peel like as though they were painted or more coated over with a layer. This layer is nearly the same color, to a more darker color, as shown in the pictures. Also where one sits the layer develops mini craters/ bubbles and becomes unattractive and unsanitary. Further, the description says solid plastic. This has been the only issue I have had with these. the one shown is 12 years old. To me, They are worth the Money mostly because they are such good quality but could be so much better if this coating was eliminated altogether. I will try contacting TOTO directly on this as well. Again I've replaced one already And after 3 years is starting to show some peal evidence again. This one toilet is in a very high traffic area in a home of 3 so its not in a professional office building where it sees 60 bums a day. Just a few. Please look at pictures and I will update this listing when I have new information. 2/14/2019 update sent email to TOTO a week ago and have not heard back yet. But I will update.. Here is the mail response and contact information if anyone needs it for your product. I do see where hey have changed the design and quality on this seat in recent years... so I was a little disappointed, but decided to go ahead and install it ...
I was quite concerned when I ordered this due to the multiple reviews saying that this seat was not of the same quality as what their TOTO originally came with. After receiving this seat, I compared it to the old original (which had badly yellowed over time) and found the following: - Both seats were of the same dimensions - The new seat did feel a bit more "flimsy" when I compared the two uninstalled seats This comparison seemed to confirm what some of the negative reviewers were saying, so I was a little disappointed, but decided to go ahead and install it anyway. This is where things started looking up. - Installation was easy (I used the hardware I already had from the old seat, but the new seat did come with hardware as well) - The fit was perfect, just like the original seat. - The color matched perfectly. - Most importantly though, that "flimsiness" that was observed prior to installation was completely gone. This new seat is just as good as the old one. The soft close feature took a few weeks to "settle in" and works perfectly now. The seat doesn't move around under use, and leaves me with no complaints at all. I can confirm that the plastic is perhaps not the same as on the original seat (It may be a different formulation), but the look, function, and performance meet my expectations. I don't doubt that the original seat was probably more expensive to manufacture and possibly was of higher durability, but this new seat meets or exceeds our needs. At the end of the day its just a toilet seat, and if its not "built like a tank" I am ok with that. I am not using the thing to block out gunfire after all... *Follow up after 2 years of use: This seat is still performing and looking like new after 2 years of use. We only have one bathroom, so this gets plenty of exercise. Still a fan!

A much nicer toilet seat...
Much better, heavier, and nicer than the seat that came with my toilet. Well worth the extra cost...

Part durability doesn't match the quality of the flush
I won't put anything else in my house but ADA compliant, gravity-flush Toto toilets but the seats and flush handles wear out and need replacement more often than they should. The durability of these two parts don't match the quality and performance of the bowl and tank. The flush handles are made of pot metal and the stress of actuating the toilet flapper valve eventually leads to the breaking out of the internal pocket in the handle where the actuating rod connects to the handle. I think the problem is the flapper valve shuts so tight that if the toilet is not used very often it becomes very hard to trip the flapper and puts too much stress on the handle. The handle also has sharp edges on it and it is not a good design especially considering they are made for ADA compliant toilets. The newer flapper valves made by Korky which Toto now sells seems to have eliminated the sticky flapper valve problem on one my toiltes and I will end up replacing the other two as well. Likewise the toilet seat connections to the bowl also wear out prematurely by breaking from just being sat on and we are not big people and are not hard on furniture, fixtures, or appliances. The seat has a slow close mechanism that doesn't wear out but the cheap plastic connections that are used with the nylon bolt and wing nut to attach the seat to bowl break out on the inside. This allows the seat to wobble side to side and slide around on top of the bowl rim. The result is you end up having to replace a $50 part because the cheapest part on the toilet seat broke internally just like the internals did on the flush handle. I had to replace the seat on a Toto ADA compliant seat at my mother's house for the same problem. The toilet seat and the toilet flush handle are not standard parts that you can pick up in Home Depot and none of the big box stores or the local Ferguson's carried them. Crossing the part numbers and model number is not easy either. I had to get on the phone with a Toto USA support engineer to figure out what I needed to order for a 20 year old toilet. I still recommend Toto toilets highly since I have three in the house and one at my mother's house and have had only one stop up one time in 20 years with six people living at home and never at my mother's. I never got that kind of performance living in other houses with Kohler or American Standard toilets. I just wish Toto would improve the durability of these two parts and in the case of the lever improve the ergonomics as well.

Fits perfectly on my 12 year old Toto toilet--Promenade Elongated--UPDATE
We just replaced the other two toilet seats. Even the one in the Master Bath had finally lost its soft-close ability. The new element in the box was two pieces of clear silicone that fit between the toilet and the hinges. The intent is to ensure the seat doesn't move, a complaint seen here from some others. So that was a good thing. Everything else said, below, from 5 years ago, still applies. Great product, easy swap out, makes the bathroom look like new. ******** This has to be the easiest DIY fix in the whole house. It takes about 10 minutes to change out the old seat for the new. And, in contrast to some reviewers, I found the new seat fit the old toilet perfectly. In fact, the new seat has two slots, and not just round holes, for the fasteners. Therefore, you can adjust the seat by about 1/2" forward or backward to ensure it lines up with the front of the toilet. And a word about how long the soft close feature lasts. I installed 3 Toto toilets, each with a soft close seat, about 12 years ago. The one in the MBR still works almost like new. On the other two, however, the top has lost its soft close feature because, I believe, the users in those bathrooms manually push down the top whenever they close it. The seat itself, on both toilets, is still soft close, which supports my theory. (The seats being put up much less frequently than the top.) So, I expect this new seat to retain it's soft close feature for many years to come. The price on Amazon is just terrific. And as to style, the transitional does not have a bevel on the top, so it looks just like the one I replaced. The only downside to these toilet seats, I think, is that if you use something even mildly abrasive to clean them, they scratch and lose their sheen. All in all, a well made product, with a very useful feature, that practically installs itself.

Finally a seat that works!
I don’t know what toilet seat manufacturers have done with the seat molds in the last few years, but I’ve tried a number of seats and they just aren’t working properly as far as holding peoples nether regions properly on the seat! These work, I’ve replaced two others that looked similar but didn’t work. I’m tired of not being able to sit properly on a seat and have things go where they should! I already had a Toto toilet and so decided to try this instead of the cheaper version that really wasn’t functional and it works great. I’ve put one on my american standard as well, and the back is a bit uncomfortable to lean on on that toilet, but it works better than the others. It’s plastic so probably won’t last a real long time, and I’m not sure the slow close will last even if the seat does, but after spending $40-$50 every six months or so I can say I’m relieved in and on, in several ways!! Honestly, what is going on in the manufacturing world that’s continually creating things that not only don’t work well, but still cost what older, functional, lasting items cost. The public is getting the shaft. Oh well, for now I can recommend this seat. Will update if it’s gone in just a year…

Super impressed with the fit and quality
We have a Toto toilet, and I initially chose another brand of toilet seat because of price and other features. The other brand did not fit very well, and we returned it. We opted to spend more and get this Toto seat hoping it would fit better, and it did. It fits perfectly, was easy to install, and is easy to clean. I initially didn't think I would like a plastic seat vs a wooden one, but this is a good quality plastic. I thought the plastic would look and feel cheap and flimsy, but this seat is so well designed with quality materials. I also didn't think I would like a soft close seat (and it does take a while to close), but this is completely silent and indeed closes with just a soft touch. This seat is definitely worth the extra cost.

Great find!
I was very happy to find this replacement at the price I paid. Considering this item is very difficult to find and most home improvement or 3rd party retailers try to charge you an arm and a leg. The item was delivered quickly and fit perfectly. I did not have any issues installing it and it has been working great ever since.
